As long as Nigerians are afraid of dealing with corruption we are not going anywhere. We must learn to be governed by the rule of law that is transparent like other countries in the world

It is sad to see other Nigerians celebrating the ongoing mindless destruction of businesses and homes for the sake of a project we all know will soon be abandoned. Where is our humanity as human beings? When will Nigerians unite and take back control of their country by these ROGUE politicians?

LAGOS STATE IS ENFORCING IT'S POLICY OF REMOVING ILLEGAL STRUCTURES, CHANGE OF USE OF BUILDINGS WITHOUT THE RIGHT DOCUMENTATION, OR PLANNING PERMISSIONS AND BUILDING CONTROLS. I SUPPORT LAGOS STATE PLANNING DEPARTMENT, BUILDING CONTROL & MINISTRY OF LANDS. THEY ARE PROACTIVE IN SEALING ANY ILLEGAL STRUCTURE & CHANGE OF USE WITH THE RIGHT GOVERNMENT PROTOCOLS. LAGOS STATE IS COMMENDABLE IN ITS TRANSPARENCY & ENFORCEMENTS. KUDOS TO ALL PARACETALS OF LAGOS STATE IN IT'S PRACTICAL STANCE.

Begging for a few days to evacuate, Haba! If government is about the welfare and well-being of people, it should feel their pain. Most times, the landlords do not tell their tenants the truth about where their property is erected and the issues therein with the property. The landlords concern is to get their rent from tenants. A way the government can deal with this issue in future is to to do a public service announcement through various media sources so that the citizens would know about it and evacuate. Hardship and suffering is real and people should not be sent to the streets unnecessarily. The government should quit encouraging insecurity to itself.

This is definitely not a priority considering the situation in Nigeria. Projects of this magnitude are done in a country that has a good economy.
Nigerian currency is flat on it's back.
No electricity, no pipe borne water, poor health care, insecurity everywhere, school closings, no jobs, poor wages, unpaid workers and pensioners, high inflation rates, no food security, politicians embezzlement and corruption, compromised and corrupt judiciary, terrorism and banditry ,kidnappings and killings. Thousands of
dilapidated roads and bridges across the country. Fuel scarcity and poor infrastructures across the country.
Poverty and extreme hunger in the land. Issues of farmers/herders clashes. Religious and ethnicity clashes.
Discrimination and marginalization issues. Regional issues. Lawlessness and disregard for human and people's rights.
Government officials stealing and abusing the system with impunity. Lack of accountability and transparency from government. Inequality treatment of citizens and discipline. The country is financially and economically poor. The list is endless.
The coastal highway is not what Nigeria should embark in at this point in time. Building is one thing. What about maintenance. Nigeria is highly indebted and how is this project going to be funded and what plans or means of paying back the loans.
Which Nigerian national assets are placed as collateral to obtain the loans.
Issues of climate change and response not in place. Fire stations nonfunctional.
    Clashes amongst law enforcement agencies.
Lack of information gathering and sharing amongst security agencies.
Total breakdown of law and order everywhere.
How does APC know they will be in power the next 3 years knowing fully the controversies surrounding the last Presidential elections.
What's the guarantee that this project will be completed.
2nd Niger bridge took 50 years to complete. Are we looking at another 50 + years project.
Just a means of siphoning money.
Very funny indeed to know that Bola Tinubu is a buddy pal of the contractor and no public bidding on the contract award.
There is a huge devil in the detail.
    Nigerians shine your eyes.
Tinubu owns Lagos and another empire ownership at work.

The government needs to do this in REAL TIME.
Don't wait after the investment is completed, then demolish!!!
The governments, should employ health inspectors and have them, on the daily go out in the field, and look out for these things and stop them before innocent people invest their time and money to it!!!!
The wasted money is not good for our economy!!!

  • @VinoeP

The question we should ask is that was there no notice given because some will wait until the d day. Nobody like to destroy people's home. When any building is marked for demolition, notices are given long before the demolition day. So sorry for those affected.
