    Actually the Merc W124 was offered with rear hydropnuematic on estates as standard and saloons as an option, it had good suspension but not a patch on a Citroen. Shame Citroen engineering’s so basic in the suspension department these days, even VW realise to make a decent riding car you need independent rear suspension.

    • @FerryXtheMercy
      @FerryXtheMercy Před 2 lety +5

      So true! And to realise that even small Citroëns like 2CV and all successors up to and including the likes of Visa and AX used to have fully independent front _and rear_ suspension makes it even more sad 😕 Those weren't exactly expensive cars, so costs alone clearly don't justify inferior rear suspension constructions!
      Really hate the wobbly rear-end behaviour on (asymmetrically) uneven roads of these 'semi-independent' torsion axis rear suspensions so many (not just small) cars have these days 😭

Even with regards to car suspension. This however does not invalidate that the hydro-pneumatic suspension of Citroen was a marvel although too complex to economically maintain in mass production.
