I have a 1999 Lexus RX 300. There are actually 2 separate programming steps required to successfully program the new key to both start the car and control the remote locking and unlocking of doors. The video posted here is correct and will indeed program the key to start the car. This 1st step involves the gas and brake pedals and the security light. I have attached a link below with the same steps that has better audio. The 2nd step to get the remote locking and unlocking key fob functionality involves a sequence using the drivers side door lock. This video shows how the user used his fingers to move the button back and forth 5 times manually, which helped with my situation. Here are links to 2 videos that perform both sequences. When I programed the remote using the door lock sequence, I only turned the key to the "on" position once instead of twice because I saw somewhere that twice will delete existing key programming. Hey great video, was the car throwing knock sensor codes ? Mine was throwing VVT solenoid bank 2 code and I thought that could be causing knock sensor codes but I changed solenoid and car is still having knock sensor codes after about 10 minutes of normal driving no overdrive working And the car is having the same stumbling issues when you accelerate hard ! Going to do this trick next
