  • Thirteen of the 39 signers of the U.S. Constitution shared something in common: they were Freemasons. But did Freemasonry really play an influential role in the founding of the United States? Professor Kevin Butterfield attempts to separate myth from reality.

Very astute analysis of Masonic influence during this critical period of our history.

It is interesting how the influence mainly is among the Masons themselves, today. The U.S. constitution is based more off the constitution of Freemasons. Thomas Jefferson, himself wrote the U.S. constitution, and originally wrote it in a way that freed the African America slaves of the time; unfortunately, due to fear of war with the south as well as the British.

Thank you for this brilliant comparison between masonic symbolism and certain symbols of the enlightenment era. It is interesting to see the connections between ideas, concepts and ethic in the "Constitutions of the Free-masons" (1723) and the "Constitutions of the United States" (1787).

    • @duncescotus2342

It's beyond "interesting." The Freemasons are so entwined with the Revolution that there couldn't have been one without them. That is good if you like the American Revolution and Freemasonry.
But, they had a little problem shortly after beating England. France started to get ideas. The Masonic ideals which led Washington to turn bluecoat led Jacobins to behead anyone they could tie down.
Even Thomas Paine, foolish enough to check out the action on the ground, barely escaped with his head attached.
Know your history. Don't believe Masonic lies. If it was anything good in the past, today its just satanic boy scouts.
