Dimash refuses to sell his soul to the devil - will not sign a record contract - as he prefers to sing what his heart tells him to sing 😊. This is why so many haven't heard of him, but having a worldwide fan base, he is doing great without signing his life & soul away! 😊💞🙏

The song speaks of the composition of Magzhan Zhumabayev, who is considered an exponent of Kazakh literature. When in 1928 he was sent to prison, and later sent to camps in North Karelia, Russia, Zuleikha (wife of Magzan) followed him, no matter where he was taken, she always found him and came to see him everywhere. She went to great lengths to get him released from prison in 1936, even asking the famous writer Maxim Gorky for help. During his prison term, Zhumabayev received the lying news that his wife had abandoned him, in this sense Daididau was written as a lament for the lost love and suffering of the nation. But contrary to what he thought, outside his wife worked hard for his freedom and in 1934 his sentence was reduced and he was finally able to return to the family. Unfortunately, in 1938 he was forcibly taken to the concentration camp and executed.

Daididau is a sad protest song. In places where they cannot go on the march against acts of governments, protest songs take the form of sad songs to move people towards empathy with that suffering the unfair act so as to be able to make it know and not letting them forget. Magzhan Zhumabaev was a Kazakh poet and writer part of a group of Kazakh nationalists who wanted a new national government independent from their Russian overlords. He was arrested and convicted for the 10-year deprivation of liberty. To break him psychological and emotionally his captors lied to him that his wife, his love, to whom Magzhan called “Daididau”, had run away with a lover. So he wrote a poem “who will I tell about my sorrow and pain”. Finally Magzhan was executed by shooting on 1938. That´s why Dimash was so moved singing it.

This is a Kazakh folk song & Dimash & his uncle did this arrangement when Dimash was around 16 yrs old. At concerts, his Dears sing the chorus with him, which he loves, as we are singing in his beloved native language. In fact, we all join in on lots of his songs in many different languages 😊❤

The version of Adai plus Daididau at his first solo concert in Astana Kazakhstan in 2017 after the Singer competition in China is stunning and has subtitles to Daididau so you can understand the very sad and poignant lyrics. The song is actually a letter written by a famous Kazakh poet imprisoned by the Russians for sedition and told that his beloved wife, Daididau, had left him. It was a lie to torture him and he was devastated. The words of the letter was turned into song which Dimash sings at every concert. Tragically the poet was eventually executed for his writings. The Kazakh people have suffered greatly over hundreds of years as a conquered people who have attempted to fight for their freedom many times with bloody results. They finally got their freedom when the Soviet Union fell apart in 1991. In my opinion, Dimash sings Daididau and Samaltau, another sad folk song about a conscripted soldier, as reminders of their history and to treasure their freedom.

Actually, his work ethic is so different than we in the western world. His family did see that he had a talent in music at a very young age and nurtured it and made sure he had the right education.
So much disciplined practice time and work ethic.

Dimash would never sell his soul to the devil. This is a very spiritual, very family oriented, very talented, inspired & guided by his family....man. just because he is extremely talented, does not mean it came from something unGODly.

Have you already been told that Dimash grew up living with his grandparents, parents and siblings all together, as per Kazakh tradition? Also, there’s a custom called ‘Returning the Son’, where the eldest son is given to the paternal grandparents to bring up. At the age of 47, Dimash’s grandmother Miua gave up her job as a teacher to care for Dimash (and to this day, he still calls her ‘Mama’)…

Amen. It is a blessing to watch a great artiste , the G.O.A.T., btw, perform without pushing his religion blatantly. He believes as I do, tolerance, forbearance and acceptance of different viewpoints- especially religion. Acceptance of viewpoints doesn't mean acceptance of others ACTIONS that violate, abuse, destroy or eliminate others who disagree. Even environmentally, human beings should be open to new ideas that might challenge traditions or practices that could be or are harmful to citizens and their environment. The status quo sometimes needs revamping and sometimes preserving.😊

Dimash just released a song called Omir which means Life. He sings at a piano with his brother Mansur playing guitar. It is beautiful in its simplicity. If you can react to that and then react to the mv he did of this song the year before. That has footage of hus lufe from baby to adult, showing him on stage as a child, later on winning competitions and going on to world fame, meeting world leaders and stars from around the world,

This song is special for Dimash. I'm sure for many Kazakhs as well. I am sure many Dear will leave comments about what the song is about. This is one of his most special song so most Dears especially Dears who knew him from 2017 can sing this phonetically even if they dont speak Kazakh. Dears singing to this song in his concerts always brings tears to my eyes.
