I started my Social Security, my pension, manage my USA investment portfolio, renewed my USA passport, and obtained a 5 year Thai drivers license all here from Thailand virtually with no problems. It’s really not that difficult.

Managing your expectations is key. Different country, different language, different way of doing things. Have a lot of patience and learn to adapt. Learn some key Thai phrases. Cultivate friendships with Thais and other foreigners, they can be a great asset to help you out. When you get frustrated, remember the good reasons you moved to a different country (beaches, lifestyle, weather, etc).
This kept me sane in when I lived in South America 20 years ago, and when I’m in Thailand now.

Good point about the Western food. McDonald's and Starbucks costs the same there as here in the US.

Because old habits, familiarity, and preferences don't necessarily stop because you can get good/great Thai food you never grew up eating and took for granted.

Good video, some USA goverment web sites do not allow access from outside USA, e.g. resonding to dury duty, changing certain info on your Soc Sec. Sometimes a VPN can suffice. Starting your Social security benefits will require you to deal with USA embassy in Philipines if you reside in Thailand.

Big fan of the channel and the no bullshit informal advice. BKK isnt that cheap if you want to live as well/better than same as back home. Maybe less coming from LA/NYC/SFO/MIA, etc. Congrats on your Chiefs.

    Spot on with the food!!!
I pay a small fortune for Peanut Butter, its my lat bastion of sanity and i cannot go without it, 300 baht for a large jar which back home would cost 90-100baht
Multiply this by several hundred mornings of toast with peanut butter and you have spent some serious cash versus eating what we produce from our farm and a few market bought item's
I love your driving with your feet analogy......gold

I just bought a 40oz jar of Skippy super chunky peanut butter at Walmart in Longmont, CO yesterday. 7usd about 245 baht. I forget what I paid for a small jar of peanut butter in Hua Hin from Lotus was. But eggs are over $4 a dozen. Thailand has that cheaper.

Had to take my wife's Thai passport back to the UK to be witnessed and rthey kept a certified by them copy. This was part of registering her as a beneficiary to get a reduced pension, from my occupational scheme should I pop my clogs. As she did not have a UK birth cert. Much easier to do when still working, and going back and forth to home country.

Don't see how your $350/month budget fits as to qualify for retirement visa you still need to demonstrate a monthly wire income of over B65k or maintain B600k
