Where's the vtec bro
Lindsey is awsome because he actually ask technical question, peoplea re curious, otherwise you hear Ecklund over at MXA reading a script " new cams" bla bla. This is a good brief on how to explain the new models. GJ Vital.
Ecklund talking only what he paid for.
Love my ‘19 CRF250r even more after watching this. The suspension is incredible, the power is great, the battery holds a charge, electric start works mint, though I do miss having a kicker as a backup(took about 6 rides before I stopped reaching for it lol) and the brakes are like the Honda brakes of days gone by. Honda hit it out of the park. I thought I’d miss ripping my 95 CR250r, but it’s been resting in the shop.
I like the dual headers. An engine is like a big air compressor, the more efficiently you can get air in and out definitely adds power.
I cant wait to get on of these one day
A bike thats well balanced will feel just as light as the 10 lb lighter bike. Ride what you feel most comfortable and at home on not whats lightest or got fastest motor. Id take electric start and spring forks and the elxtra lbs
Robbie Dean totally agree
You guys are missing the real point of the dual exhaust. The dual exhaust is to lower the decible output of the bike too.
Do you think the 2019 honda crf250r will have both electric start and kick?
Do you guys know if the clutch is the same as previous?
Roughly 4kgs more than a 250sxf and half of that is a different choice of fork setup, not a huge amount of extra weight. If their power output claims are spot on (like they were with the 450) then this thing is going to be a hell of a lot more competitive ten its been for years.
Great tech brief btw. Nice to see someone asking for the details instead of reading out a bunch of features like they're going through the sale brochure.
I think black rims would have been a good idea. I guess honda can't do everything though
Adds price to the bike.
Thank god my new model came with black wheels💪
aesthetics and marketing are what honda is about
jimmy smyth That's more like Yamaha lol. Honda is in fact very conservative with their bikes looks, not the fastest but durability is second to none.
Icansee u dual exhaust on a single cylinder 250 is conservative?
Battery died after 1 week in storage .. done an oil change on my 2018 bike tried starting it batrery died after few attempts trying to start it
Constantly talks about weight reduction, adds dual exhaust.
I got nothing against dual header pipes, but merge it into one larger single pipe and can.
The dual cans seem more like a marketing want, than an engineering want.
Greco Conduris it's just as heavy as last year's duals.
Evan Anderson which I would bet the engineers would say is 1 too many cans than it needs to be.
Greco Conduris there's pros and cons to having duals. pros are that it makes the bike more balanced, adds power, etc. cons it's heavier than a single pipe.
Its all about marketing not performance truth
Thank you Vital, this is the first real useful interview and info, the Honda guy was awesome, want to say that, thank you.
I'm a fan of the e-start and I am sure Honda will have that dialled?
All the design improvements to the bike including engine sound good! (Leaving out exhaust though)
Would have been great if you had asked why no Hydraulic clutch still?
Questions that still concern me, re using technology from a road department has a few negatives, dirtbikes operate in totally different variables, both from terrain and length of motos and how that effects bike performance and rider performance over a Moto!
So I'm not convinced the dual port dual header design impact is a benefit or a negative, the weight gain is a negative when you look at how hard the engineers have tried to reduce weight elsewhere and wet weight is still 238lbs wow, but Im sure it's been tested vs the 17 bikes to be better, why did it take 10years to realise DOHC was better for higher revving bikes than SOHC, this is Honda 4 strokes are they're expertise! That blew me away that statement right they're!
The Honda guy speaks about why the dual exhaust intakes and why they went that way, exhaust exit ports to header pipes was due to loss of power that is normal often in previous designs, I am no 4 stroke mechanic expert so maybe I'm gonna be wrong here or misunderstood, but this is more of an issue not due to the design of everyone's conventional intake/exit ports/headers but more a material quality, tolerances and mass production process on the production line?
This is a key area an aftermarket pipe company or engine tuner focuses on cleaning up, maybe compression, of valving etc etc, because stock usually have a fair bit of room for improvement, my point is Honda have tried to solve a problem here with another problem with added weight and added complexity yet the same internals due to cost point and high production process will potentially still provide the same issues in a std design re quality it may improve it over previous designs, but it seems like a crutch to a problem not a solution that engine tuners and aftermarket pipe companies have been solving for years pretty easily in some cases!
Now that is all subjective on my part, I don't want to rain on Hondas parade here, but this is where I feel Honda has lost its connection to the market!
The sport always has and always will be ground up riders, not down, where all sports have focused and eroded they're base for many years re numbers of participants due to cost, complexity and loss of engagement and fun! Which is why we do it in the first place!
Buying a 250 like 125cc of old, the first thing even the Honda dude admitted and props to him, was horsepower and across the range, what the Japanese have failed to realise is weight not just distribution is esp key with a 4 stroke! All are still way behind KTM and Husky and that just got even worse!
2nd cost of race season, not just performance, but if I am spending less on a KTM that is lighter faster and easier to maintain, even with the same budget I have more money for development or aftermarket improvements, my suspension works better over a longer moto as the lower weight produces less heat and friction a heavier bike will, let alone the effect on rider fatigue.
It looks good, I want to say good job Honda but against the Euro bikes, I just don't get it, they are lighter, faster, proven, less complexity, more potential lower cost, is this a game changer, time will tell if I am speaking out of my a hole!
To me the Euro's have done to the Japanese what the Japanese did to the Euros in the late 70s and esp early 80s with the 2stroke they never wanted! Honda has always wanted four strokes, its ironic to me they have been bested at they're own game!
What have they won in the decade of 4 strokes, where once they dominated the sport at all levels in the 2t era!
Back then they built the best bikes like KTM do now, no gimmicks just the best bikes right to grass root level in every class! with results that backed that up!
Still good work Vital and props to the Honda guy, he knew his stuff came across great I thought and was very easy to understand with no marketing BS, just facts 👍
Again claimed only weights! 2018 models.
Husky FC250F 229lbs
KX 250F 230.5lbs
YZ250F 231 lbs
RMZ250F 234lbs
Honda CRF250F 238lbs
MaverickDH damn! What an essay. Unfortunately I’m too lazy to read😂
Yes to black rims
How much $$ to add a kickstart aftermarket?
Echo Outdoors probably need a new block so expensive
They should have put black rims on it stock
black wheels are played out and kinda gay like the dude in the video wearing sandals FFS
black rims are fukin sick
Nope, black rims look heavy, clunky and slow because they are the same color as the tyres and there is no definition between the two.
J Edwards lol, never heard something dumber in my life...
overcloth haha
seams they are using old tech mixed with new, dohc with rockers ... maybe they will last like a xr or 350x lol
Surfer guy sounds smarter than the "Honda Guy"
Honda Guy: " Um oh uh, well, uh, um, uh."
How many gears?
Aaron Mitchell 5
Does any one know the price tag?
Mark Finn just released $7999
This bike good for 14 yr old that’s about 5’8
Spicoli, Fast Time at Ridgemont High
8k. WOW.
Pretty sad that my bike thats 16 years older than this weighs less what is the deal with 2 head pipes and mufflers no one else has jumped on to this band wagon tells me its not that great of an idea honda used to be a good company back in the day now all ide buy is a generator
Is it sad that my 1977 RM125 weighs 194 lbs? You might want to focus on bike skills and not worry so much about the weight. Honda has a pretty good idea about what changes need to be made to keep there bikes competitive
Why was he talking about weight reductions so much there's 7 pounds more than last years bike on this one
I would sell my bike rn and buy this bike if only it had a kick start 😒
238 lbs holey fuck
Make a video on the mapping no one has mapping vids!!!!
238lbs wet fluids and oil, without fuel? Wow!
Michael Lindsay ok that's better, some companies call wet weight with fluids why I was checking! Cheers dude 🤙
Michael Lindsay just found some online calculations pretty rough without doing a scale test to verify bikes but it's close enough!
2018 SXF is claimed to be 98.2kg with fluids and oil, NO Fuel!
That's 216.5 lbs for imperial users!
Fuel capacity is 7litres! 7.0l = 5.24kg or 11.5lbs
228lbs total. With Fuel.
That's 10kgs lighter, than this new CRF 250F, 10kgs that's the difference between the weight of the 450 to the 250 Honda!
You are correct dude re the fuel inclu in curb weight again thanks that was good info cheers🤙

It weighs more than a ktm 450 lmfao, hondas are heavy junk. ANyone wants to talk shit just say 238 for a 350f
its gonna be a bitch to get the cam chain off now why not just make it easier like all the bike have it
1st
Dual exhaust is a marketing gimmick. 238 lbs thats heavier than some 450s. Honda has gone down hill since 2008
Hate hondas philosophy
Come on Michael... Flip flops and hat backwards. You and Vital are better than this.
All you need are a pair of Matthes' cargos. LOL
Your concerned with attire on a dirtbike review that is clearly far more in depth and knowledgeable than the others posted so far? Then brazen enough to be rude about it. This is not a boardroom and what people choose to wear has nothing to do with the review or how "better" they are at anything or than anyone else which has absolutely no importance in life at all. He is fully clothed and doesn't look unprofessional just comfortable. Eat ROOST!
