Just for E92 users, you can't do that. First, unplug the aux (Same as E90), then push through the hole cable and after that plug the cable into the housing. After that, do not push hard, it will fall again... (I my case).

i had the same issue so i placed all around on the top of the aux a small black cable tie and it holds better than before now !!!

@That_Hoser_ I was wondering the same thing, might need an extra adaptor for the USB port. In other cases, i've seen that if you put an USB port ,beside the default jack aux, it will overun the cd player ( might not be able to listen on cds).
Not for the 2008 328i convertible- we have a different access panel

I pulled it out from the auxiliary area using needle nose pliers, and got it and in position, but now my car is not starting, could I damage my console by not doing it this way?
Thats a great question, there should be no connection between the two or even remotely close so im not sure what happened!

Just happened to me on my 09 E92 with 100k miles. I have an aux and usb on the adapter... so I used a usb extension male and female and a 3.5mm male to male cord with a female to female adapter at the end to extend the plugs and just left the adapter where it was. Then just covered the hole with some electrical tape. So nothing falls into the hole. Thanks for the video though it is slick how you removed the back part of the console.

Anyone’s aux stop working randomly after you let a friend play music? Not sure if it’s correlated or not. Also my aux box didn’t fall through , but I’m going to check if the cord got disconnected somehow. If it’s still connected and everything looks good , what are some other things that could possibly be causing it to not work/randomly stop working? Thanks in advance! - Nate.

Not sure, I’ve never owned an e92
Your going to scrape up your forearm, but you just put the driver seat all the way forward and then grab the bottom of the panel and pop it out. I got mine out enough to get my fat arm up there to get the jack back in place.
