- Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose made their debut at the 2012 Survivor Series. These 3 men were new to the WWE scene and quickly turned themselves into household wrestling names. Today all 3 of these guys are kings in the wrestling landscape. In this video I take a look at the rise of the shield from their beginning as a group to their split and subsequent singles runs.

Ambrose was the reason I liked the Shieid. If they would have let him say what he actually wanted in his promos you’d be saying differently.

Few facts about the shield that I know
1 - The Shield was actually CM Punk's idea
2 - CM Punk chosed Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Kasius Ohno as the 3 member of the shield, however Vince replaced Ohno with Roman Reigns
3 - Dean Ambrose was supposed to turn heel in 2014 instead of Seth, but later they chose Seth to turn heel

I think many people have done a complete 180 with Roman since he came back at Summerslam and he turned heel. His promos have been getting better and better and he's changed his demeanor. The Tribal Chief gimmick is perfect for him and his booking has been absolutely perfect the past few months.
We never got the shield back ever since Rollins betrayed them, yh they had a few reunions but it wasn’t the same as their moments from 2012-2014
there was never a proper reunion, as roman was injured before TLC, then Dean was injured after, they had a few matches, but it was never the same, and we will never get it as Dean (Jon) left cause of creative frustrations, sorry for writing a lot :)

I was not into Roman Reigns during 2015-2018, when he came back in 2019 he started to slowly win me over. I loved his stare down with Keith Lee at Survivor Series 2019, when they were the last two of their teams. That was a very good moment of Star vs. upcoming Star, and even though Roman won that match, I didn’t care, I think that he did a fine job letting Keith Lee look strong and like a threat. Then once 2020 came along, Roman was getting better and better and now we have “The head of the table” Heel Run with Paul Heyman. Roman is definitely killing it now, his matches with Jey USO were awesome and had good storytelling. Mox is still kickin ass in AEW, so he is still very good, and finally Seth Rollins has started to get stale and then genuinely hated and became the Monday Night Savior, and created his little cult. Now in real life Seth and Becky Lynch are off TV and preparing to have their first child together, I am very happy for both of them, and absence makes the heart grow fonder. We seen that with HBK, HHH, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, Jericho, Sasha Banks and even John Cena and Roman Reigns, when the people really hated them both at a time.

The best part of The Shield is they made the three-man tag team matches THE thing on WWE television. Every week, you knew you were going to have a dope match and led to great success in the division with The New Day, The Wyatts, etc. into the fold. Jon Moxley, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns became main event players in The Shield, but they made stars out of whoever they worked with too. It was such a fun time.
Today, all three of these guys are on top of the industry as top guys across all the major promotions. Definitely the greatest pairing all time.

The shield were the reason I watched wwe. I’m only 16 and seeing those guys work together was so sick. When Seth betrayed them I genuinely balled my eyes out and still love Roman and hate Seth to this day.

Wow. Just watched the whole video from start to finish. This had me enthralled. So much work, time and dedication went into this one, and it was clear from the video itself. The Shield were an awesome faction, and all 3 guys have gone on to have completely different singles careers since. Hopefully you hit 200 subs today, and bigger things from there. I love the work on this channel.

I met Seth Rollins In 2014. It was when he was a major heel. He went on to sign autographs after the show. He was being a heel when sighing autographs too.
I'll always remember when Seth was being pushed THROUGH the damn moon..... it was an incredible run. lately, and while he's lost a bit of "edge" to his popularity.... his latest match with Edge at SummerSlam was EXCELLENT!! Rollins still has some steam left in him.
After hearing this, it makes a lot of sense why Seth turned on the shield

Happy 10th anniversary Shield! I will never forget their shocking debut at Survivor Series 2012, they immediately freshened up the WWE with amazing matches, they were the highlight each week, 10 years flew by! Now all three, Roman, Seth and Dean are among the biggest stars in wrestling today, hope to see the Shield reunite down the road 🙌

I think we haven't seen the last of the Shield. It may take 5 or 6 years, maybe 10 years, but Dean Ambrose will be back to the WWE for one last run and to be inducted into the Hall of Fame with Seth and Roman.

@@SuperkickStudios John Morrison was away for 9 years, Shelton Benjamin at least 5 or 6, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair came back after almost 9 years. Brett Hart was inducted into the HOF 8 years after the Montreal Screwjob and he came back to do some wrestling in 2010. Everybody eventually comes back. Moxley/Ambrose will do the same eventually and so will Jericho. Probably not Cody though.

In my school days i was a fan of wwe and watched every episode. Whenever shield music hit my mom would join me to watch she was such a fan of Roman and i was a fan of Seth
Roman was cheered until the Rumble. It was the fans wanting D Bry to get pushed is why people started to hate him. Unifying Both World Titles was stupid especially since they introduced another World Title 3 years later.
People never hate Roman. They wanted him to win the 2014 royal rumble,and the fans saw that he didnt win they lost the interest and then The shield split up and everyone knew that he is going to win so they got mad because it was predictable. Plus The Rock help him win that made us even madder

Yeah so right back at all the critics who said they never did anything original! The Shield were the standard barers for most tag teams of today! They were ground breaking in their era and as solo performers they ALL still are!
Best ever stable, all three are brilliant. Most memorable moment was the very emotional night Roman announced his leukemia was back and was met by the other two on his way out of the auditorium. Rollins and Reigns in tears I will never forget.
But you missed their wm30 match between shield vs new age outlas and kane..and elimination chamber between Wyatt's
The Shield is gone now, but it created three big stars. Shame Dean had to leave, and revert back to Jon Moxley to become the star he always should have been.

Have to respectfully disagree with anyone who says that Rollins was the “brains” of the organization. That was retconned into storyline after the breakup.
Ambrose was the original leader and brains. He was the spokesman, he was the guy who gave the signal for the other two to storm the ring. He was the singles champion.
Up until his 2014 betrayal, Seth just seemed like the “third guy” that was there just to round out the group. It wasn’t until after that that his true potential and character was finally recognized by WWE.

When the shield beat evolution they asumed the throne of best group of all time. With no one left to beat the betrayal was a perfect continuation for all their storylines
I've always been a fan of Dean Ambrose I go wherever Ambrose goes but I do miss the shield when they were a thorn at Baron Corbin side and then an epic match between the shield and Baron Corbin Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre
my favorite match of the shield which is probably one of the greatest moments for me for them was their last match and 2018 I think it was one of the greatest matches I've ever watched in 100% one of my top five I will never get old of watching that match it's disappointing that Dean Ambrose isn't with WWE anymore but with the visionary in the tribal Chief going on now it's WWE will forever have some of the greatest moments of all time and the shield will probably want to be the greatest tag teams of all-time sure the bloodline has dominant but they will never be the better version as the shield wants where
