  • WHAT IS ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY?
Well, it is a Province in Mindanao on the Zamboanga Peninsula, and one that I just arrived in driving my motor across Mindanao from Davao City. In this video, we start in Lakewood Zamboanga Del Sur. The Municipality is literally home to a lake called "wood lake". From there, we head down the highway to Buug, stop for coffee and fruits along the way... before arriving in Ipil, the capital of Zamboanga Sibugay Province.
I was lucky... my favorite place to stop for a snack was open!!!
What is Zamboanga Sibugay? Well, we learn a little more at the end of the video when I meet a local!
    Power On!

Zamboanga needs this kind of exposure, tourism would be of great benefit to the area.

Thank you for promoting our province in Zamboanga Del Sur. I was born in that province particularly in Lapuyan Zamboanga Del Sur. Subanen is our tribal language, good morning in Subanen is "Ghempya Sheselem". I'm now here in Davao city. "Poquito" means "a small", the right translation is "Poco" or "a little bit".

Zamboanga Peninsula was composed of 1 City and 3 Provinces, namely: Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay. Pueblo was the central downtown of Zamboanga City. Dipolog City was the capital city of Zamboanga del Norte. Pagadian City was the capital city of Zamboanga del Sur. Municipality of Ipil was the capital of Zamboanga Sibugay. Chavacano was the official language of Zamboanga City. Bisaya (Cebuano) was the official language of the 3 mentioned provinces. Good luck!!! Pasya is laag in Chavacano. Amping!!! Cuidao!!!

Kuya's "origin" of Sibugay from "Sibug bagay" is folk etymology, uses Cebuano words, and INCORRECT. As usual, when someone claims that the name of some place in the Philippines is because of Word A + Word B, or involves some sort of "misunderstanding" between natives and foreigners, they are ALWAYS wrong. Compound words are very rare in Filipino languages.
The name is derived from the Subanen village of Sibugay (spelled Sibuguey, Sibuguei, Sibuguy, etc. in Spanish records) which was friendly to the Spanish during the Moro Wars of the Spanish colonial period. It's also the origin of the name of Sibuguey Bay. It was a former subject of Cachil Corralat (Sultan Kudarat of the Maguindanao Sultanate) and a significant outpost during the Spanish conquest. The MEANING of the name is not known. But it's etymology would be Subanen, not Cebuano, like Kuya describes it as.

Sibugay comes from visayan word sibog which is come closer to seat.
And you had a mallachan sort of like banana ketchup the original color is yellowish-orange 🍌🍶
And you dip it on fried saba bananas that is similar to plantain 🍌🍌🍌🍶
And you went there before just couple months before the pandemic hit.
And the park that you went was abandoned maybe it was due to the pandemic.
And it had landslide the bus stop 🚌🛑
It gets land slide when it rains really hard 🌧🌧🌧🪨🪨🪨
And it is really hot from 10 AM to 3PM because it is closer to the equator and the sun is further from the atmosphere ☀️
It gets really hot at 12 noon in Canada and US because it is farther on the equator ☀️🕛🇨🇦🇺🇸
And it is like a 10 hour drive from Davao City to Ipil.
It is better to live at midnight because it is less traffic 🕛🚫🚥🚦🚗🚙🚌🚐🚛🚚🛻🏍🛵
And the guy from Ipil had a shirt from Viajero which was ordered online from Cagayan De Oro and sent to Ipil.
