The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

From an episode of the Sullivan show which featured talented newcomers to the entertainment scene making their TV debuts.
Outrageously expressive with no desire to "conform"! A real breath of fresh air! People hear a unique singer who sounds nothing like Sinatra or Mathis and they cant get on board with it. This man was unique and 100% authentically himself. His performances were dramatic because this is how the music moved him. He reminds me of a Bill Kenny/Mario Lanza with a style his own. I thouroughly enjoyed this performance (Ive watched it 3 times just tonight) and will continue to enjoy it as long as its posted here. Thanks for sharing this one!
I remember him, his brother Larry and his other brother Darryl. 😇
From South Pacific. Great musical..Very dramatic performance by Mr. Darryl!🌹
I CANNOT FIND HIS BIO, ONLY THAT HE ALSO APPEARED ON THE STEVE ALLEN AND MERVE GRIFFIN TV SHOWS, AND PERFORMED IN LAS VEGAS. NO DATE WAS GIVEN OF HIS BIRTH OR POSSIBLE DEATH. NOTHING.
IF HE HAD TONED DOWN PERHAPS HE COULD HAVE SUCCEEDED WITH SOME SOFT BALLADS OR INTIMATE JAZZ. I WASN'T ENAMORED WITH HIS VOICE, BUT HIS MAIN DRAWBACK WAS HE WAS TOO "OVER THE TOP" HERE, AND I CAN ONLY ASSUME THIS WAS THE NORM. HE OBVIOUSLY COULD SING.
HOPEFULLY HE
FOUND HAPPINESS IN LIFE. I ACTUALLY FEEL SOMEWHAT MELANCHOLIC AND SYMPAHETIC FOR HIM.🥺
His act was reviewed in the El Paso Herald-Post 1967 Oct 14:

This means he was born in 1943-44, thus he was still a teen on this Sulivan appearance. I didn't see a obituary notice.

Thanks for the video…the winning lottery ticket , nearly was mine…😂! Just didn’t have the right numbers…😢!
I enjoyed his impassioned performance, and wonder what became of him…like so many others who graced Ed’s stage.
Have a great day!

A very bold move (at the time) by Sullivan to present this very unique
non-white performer.
Sullivan had had dozens and dozens of non white artists on his program from the inception of Toast Of The Town. I'm not sure why you think this was a rare thing for his show.
POST MORE SUPREMES CONTENTT
Very much like Bobby Short.
His vibrato is too rapid for my taste and his hand-gestures were too dramatic. DA
No breath control either mine. Terrible!
The poor man’s Johnny Mathis.
This one was hard to listen to.
Have the feeling he was tying too hard and came off being unnatural.
