A haunting thought indeed. Many simply won't be remembered, sad but true. Mayhaps we shall see how my name ends up... known, or forgotten throughout time.

As a teen, i enjoyed the action. As an adult, I felt great sorrow for the characters as it's part of our history. A lot of deaths. Great master piece.
It’s mythological.. Homer wrote the illiead and the oddessy
@@anneblubaugh58 something like this definetly happened.
@@anneblubaugh58 the Roman’s and Greeks conquered the world. A lot of death and suffering. The writer you’re talking about evidently got his ideas from real life. It’s all history.
@@anneblubaugh58Still based on truth however, men were warroirs, now they're effeminate soyboys with purple hair living with their mommy.
@@anneblubaugh58 The Trojan War we know happened, as archaeological evidence shows the Mycenaeans sacked troy 3 times, the last one just before the Bronze Age Collapse. Obviously, the story itself will be more myth than fact, but almost all the characters will certainly have a basis. A great Thessalian Warrior probably fought in it. And thus, as the Bronze Age Collapse happened, putting Greece into 3 centuries of unable to read or write, and the war tale being passed down only orally, of course the mythological parts sprung up.

Well yes brother it's true one war going inside the head and another inside the world and there is no doubt that if you not win in both you lose the race of everything or whatever it is
How Brad Pitt somehow didn't win an Oscar for Troy is beyond me.
you cant give an oscar to one brilliant thread if the rest of the carpet is shit
Who won that year?
Lotr the return of the king dropped the same year I believe
Um, he didn't win because he didn't deserve to.
They didn't have an award for pretty boy gone bad boy.
Gem of a movie. No matter how many times I see it, it never gets old.
"IS THERE NOONE ELSE?! IS THE NOONE ELSE?!" I remember screaming this line on the tennis court after I'd won against 3 similarly good players in a row. I'd reached a new high and there was no answer to my calls, for it is in my veigns. My great uncle won Wimbledon, and that is what made me great
This shows two things I love about humanity.
1) Those few humans that think and do remarkable things, totally worth of following them.
2) Those that see the value of those remarkable humans, and follow them because of admiration and not fear.
Both are what makes humanity great.
Achilles knew he made the plans, the strategies, and the decisions, but he also knew that he wasn't more than the rest of his myrmidons, that they were equal brothers, maintaining true friendship and leadership.
The honor that the myrmidons felt for him is also admirable. They were one, thus Achilles also needed them.
I was inspired to write all this because of this part 5:50 ("Fighting for you has been my life's honor my lord")
The music behind these scenes makes you feel the beauty of it. Hope for more humans like these.
Absolute brilliant edit. You’ve outdone yourself man.
Thanks man
This movie came out the year I turned 24... Almost twenty years later and it is still my absolute favorite film of all time. There are a handful of other movies that come close, for me personally, but I've yet to watch another film that resonates with me like this one. Perhaps it has to do with my lifelong love of history, particularly medieval and ancient history, or all the Greek mythology I read as a child, I really couldn't say...
Mate I don't understand why it isn't loved as much as it should be. Gladiator is still better but this movie is just awesome as well.
This film is easy to follow and understand, yet it’s not basic and run of the mill. The casting and set are realistic and well done. There are many other films that I like a lot, but they aren’t so rewatchable. I can rewatch this movie many times and it’s still fresh. It’s not only a plot twist or shocking ending which many films hinge on to be good the first watching, but the whole tale is enthralling and relatable.
The struggle to have glory, but also losing it all in the course of it. And even when you achieve it, you wonder if it’s ever truly worth it.
i am with you. Gladiator, Troya, Braveheart and even King Arthur 2004 (not the story, but how he played him). Still waiting for this kind of move about Musashi...
I have never seen anything like this. Please never put it away! Sheer perfection.
You know it's hard to imagine you making a better version of your last one and you pop out this masterpiece that is so in tune with his character I really loved how built him up first before showing him on the screen that was brilliant make his appearance so much more impactful and special. Really enjoyed your song choices especially the second one the way you combined action and emotional side of him together was perfect one of my absolutely favourite parts was showing off the parallel between his death and Hector's always felt they were one in the same. You completely outdid yourself with this fantastic masterpiece Troy has always been one of my favourite war movies since I was a kid and are always feel nostalgic while watching them 💙
You had me at Achilles!
Peace in a lifetime of war...wow..the lines of this movie..surpasses all
Liked, subbed, commenting.
This video made we weep.
I was in high school when this came out. I took notes during the movie on the back of my ticket stub and receipts. There were so many good one liners.
I'm 37 now. I'm a hardened veteran of life's vigors and challenges. I still have much to go, but I weep for my own suffering and tragedies...as well as for the glories and pleasures.
Achilles...the hero that inspired so many...from Alexander the Great to Napolean.
I was a true product of all those historical epic films that came out during this glorious era...Gladiator. Troy. Mongol. Casino Royale (kinda diff but relevant cuz Daniel Craig humanized Bond in such a beautiful way...his lines to Eva Green..."my armor.. you're stripped it from me" is kinda like Achilles with his "in a lifetime of war, you gave me peace."
I am grateful. I was a desperate and poor kid who grew up under immense brutality and criminality...but I kept the faith because of books, my dog and films like this.
I could've...become like a Punisher figure and brought the sword to my abusers. But my dog taught me otherwise. So I became more like Batman instead.
I bled and suffered..and ultimately...exiled myself from my family because they were destined for hell or a jail cell. And for my future children's sake, I left. I took all those arrows so my children may be born free. They deserve better problems than the bullshit that brought FBI marshals to our home.
Forgive me God for being so slow. It has been difficult.
For that glory that was Rome. I wish you well brothers.
One day, may we ride alongside each other on the field of battle like the Winged Hassars...and bring back Constantinople.
My brothers of the blade, I love all of you and wish you glory, gold, virgins and honor.
He was born to play this role.... Achilles.
" History remembers kings not soldiers "
Only the ones who were exceptional make the cut in the anals of history
I watched TROY as a teenager, twice, first at the theatre with my mother, second in school with my mates and teacher. Brad Pitt was absolutly brillant and well casted for playing Achilles, yet, I had troubles liking him until the begining of his relation with Briseis. He starts as a teenager/manchild, reach manhood and maturity, then dies in the end, being at peace with himself. I felt way more "close" to Eric Bana's Hector than Pitt's Achilles, I must confess. Hector was more calm, stable, loyal and vertuous, a husband, a father and a prince. < The man you would like to be with, and you would like to be like >. I knew what his end was going to be, yet I cried during the movie. In the end, both are great exemples, to follow, or exemples to avoid. As I grew up, becoming an adult, then a teacher, and one day, a husband and a father, I understand these archetypes clearly.
Troy, 300, Gladiator
Classics of all time

fantastic edit! i like how you kept his face out of the beginning with the shots of him suiting up until He comes riding in on the horse. As well as using the clashing sounds of big fight vs hector as impacts and crashes to help drive home the narrative. Bravo.
I never get tired of this movie.
Watch this movie time to time. But never see many meaningful quotes until watch your video. Great tribute video.
This is better than the movie, because it tells a story, not a situation.
The stories of people are captivating. Not recounts of events, places, or things.
People, there lives, and the stories they tell is why we are captivated.
This is truly one of the best edits I have seen. So seriously impressed. Should have been the trailer

Bro, I'm borderline obsessed with Troy.
wow this was beautifully edited! it must have taken hours to do it! nice one !
Saw a new Achilles tribute in my home page and got excited when I saw it was you that made it 😆😆
Theres a horrible simplicity to realising whatever you do in the modern day you'll never be remembered, after your grandchildren die your name will be forgotten. I feel as though every man just wants direction in life which is so hard to find nowadays, I weirdly envy all the people living in ancient times where the options were a lot fewer and success or failure a lot easier to define.
The film is true to the work of Homer and Ancient Greek mythology in that it shows Helen’s departure from Sparta, whether willing or otherwise, as the act that provoked the Greeks to go to war. While it accurately shows Paris in love with Helen, it strays from the original when it comes to the character’s fate. In the film, Paris kills Achilles and then escapes Troy with his cousin Briseis. In Homer’s poem, Paris dies during the war after he is struck by the poisoned arrow of Philoctetes.
Achilles the hero of every Greek that called himself virtuous
Yup I'm gonna watch Troy directors cut again! Brilliant promo 👏 💯

I am truly amazed of how great you are at making montages. This is the type of content I would like to produce!
I first saw this film when I was 5 years old (I know, bit too young lol), I watched it because I remember seeing a trailer for it and that it would on the tv that night. I watched it and, whilst there was a lot I didn’t understand, I loved it. And as I grew up I continued rewatching and every time I learned more about the meanings in it. I rewatched it recently at 25 and just had so much appreciation for knowing this film for so long. It’s truly fantastic. The actors, the cinematography…the story itself, just simply amazing
It's an incredible story.
