The whole song and MV is a satire. It's their self expression and sums up their struggles and everything they went through..The unconventional/weird sound and structure is really intended that way. It's normal to be blown away😅..

Gento is an extremely difficult song to analyze but I'm glad you came out of it sane & intact😁
This MV was self-produced by SB19 once they formed their own company -1Z Entertainment (Pablo as the CEO). The boyz have more creative freedom to put their hearts and minds into their MV, its a big budget MV, I bet they put all their own money to get this MV out. Justin (the youngest) is the creative director, and each has an input for their part. Their MV always felt like a mini Movie, their MV trailer alone is a like a short film. The MV credits shows all the people involved in creating this AWESOME MV.
They can all sing. They can all rap. They made their own music. They can all dance and they are all Filipinos( PPOP culture).
GENTO is a about the journey of the Kings of PPOP. Their music really covers OPM ballad, HipHop, Pop Rock, EDM, Rap Rock with lots of Filipino cultural references through their lyrics and MV.
Pablo mentioned that the idea for GENTO came from when he heard pick axe, metal clacking sounds so randomly. It turned into the gold mine dug site image and then the boom, GENTO. Gento is also a pun for Ginto (gold in Filipino) and Gento being a slang (ganito) for “like this”. Hence the gold theme too.
The whole video is a metaphor for hard work, the context of which is behind the struggle, one's determination and perseverance to achieve a goal or purpose, will help one succeed in the end.
They all sing, they rap, they are good dancers. They make their own musiic. They manage their own group/entertainment company.

I was constantly giggling because I was anticipating you’re reaction when you thought the MV was crazy especially the Alien part. This is a satire theme perhaps more of filipino humor.
I think this is what happens when the members are also the people behind this masterpiece. The members are the creative director, producers, song writer and choreographer themselves. Ofcourse with some professionals help.
And what I’m really happy about is that, You’re the first reactor who used the piano to check the range of Ken(bass) as you know most reactors do high notes. Bass reactor meeting a Bass vocalist
made my day. You must have not recognise Ken from other songs since he also has wide range.
And yes SB19 doesn’t stick to a certain genre so you’ll always hear something different everytime you react to them.

GENTO has been a sing and dance craze all over Asia since the later half of 2023. They've also done a US & North America tour late last year.
The song is written by Pablo (the first singer/main rapper) and music is produced by Simon Servida, a Filipino musician in Canada.
They got all original EDM, R&B, Ballads and all things Pop in that tour.
They are now preparing for their 3rd EP/Album which is part of their trilogy.
By the way, yes they are the pioneers of the new generation of Filipino pop, which is PPop.

I enjoy both K-pop and P-pop.
K-pop MVs sound cleaner, with idols' voices sounding polished.
On the other hand, P-pop, specifically SB19, has more textured and growly vocal tones. That's what I really appreciate about SB19's sound-the imperfections make it more authentic and distinctive.

GENTO has one of those rare song with a lot of story in it. Specially the last part where the Alien is their S.Korean company (ShowBT) mining the SB19 members even thou the SB19 members isn't part of the ShowBT anymore. The Alien still want some CUT from the mine by using the SB19 name.
