Volibilis was an ancient berber city capital of berber kingdom. Its berber real name is
Walili and that name is the name of a kind of flowers which has a pink colour but its taste is very sour
Thanks for sharing some interesting facts!

There is a huge historical mistake here and all arround the Internet
Is that this city is Roman
Volubilis was the capital of the Moorish kingdom called Mauretania
A local civilization and there is other old cities built by Moors ( old name of Moroccans ).Like. Lixus ( Larache now ), Tingis ( Tangier now ) , Tamuda and Sala ( Rabat) now
Romans conquered North African old kingdoms Carthage in Tunisia , Numidia in Algeria and Mauretania in Morocco
And actually they destroy way more than what they added to this region after the punic wars.
The winners wrote the history obviously
But romans themselves didn’t deny
That North Africa has big history and wasnt empty no man land how new western media talks
Thank you for the information. The place was amazing!
