- In this video, I take an opal that I bought for $125 about 6 years ago and work on it by grinding, cutting and polishing. The results are astonishing.
The opal is from Mintabie, SA, Australia. In the video, two Ethiopian opal stones from my last video are given away and two more opals are presented from giveaway in this video!

A couple of years ago I bought a tool box with tools and some rough looking stones at a garage sale. I put the tool box away for another day.
Fast forward a couple of years. I came across my tool box and decided to see what was in there. There were several baggies full of different size opal rocks!!! Opal is my birthstone so I was super excited for my find!
I joined the rock and mineral club and learned how to make an opal pendant with a wire wrap.
Now, I keep thinking that I need all those tools and machinery to work on the rest of my rough opals.😀
Love your Channel!
So far you're the only one to explain it effectively just like it is. Lapidary 40 years here. Nice job and thanks for sharing the craft with others.
Apart from the best Opal in history... Your humor is appreciated... Very nice video sir.
This is the first time in 20 years I have ever subscribed to any chanel. This is the whole enchilada for me!
Me too I've never subscribe to any CZcams channel
Woah, hard to believe someone would sell an opal like that for just 125. Those enchilada giveaway opals are beautiful as well.
Look at that opal Colonel…it’s a potch encased enchilada morsel waiting for your brilliant 3D enabled mind at the grinding wheel. Your mission is always to bring clarity to these pieces when no one else can in the format you bring us. Keep up the rants!
Thank you for sharing your opal and lapidary experience with your unique delivery style. You are my go to channel I just discovered!!!
You're very welcome! I'm thrilled to be your go-to channel for opal and lapidary knowledge. If you haven't already, don't forget to like and subscribe for more opal adventures!
I like jelly 😊 4:04
Watching you do this whole enchilada is incredible, the way you design out a final placement in a jewel fitting for each opal is inspiring. Thank you for teaching us the whole enchilada of your process.
I love opal ruff. The whole enchilada is like digging for treasure...Some times ypu just dont find what you're hoping for...but then...there are times you are left speechless with your discovery.
Beautiful that there stone is, doesn't need another ench-ilada stones are too big as it is, yours is perfect.
Good for you giving back to your viewers with cuttings from your main stones. Black opal direct just grinds through what they don't think is perfect and waste a lot of opal us less fortunate cutters would love to have.
I don't know why they would say it is the "whole enchilada" when it is clearly the enchilada with the rice and beans...It's the enchilada plate!!! Great job. I like the rant section. You are very entertaining.
"Eating a bowling ball is harder than it sounds" is right up there with "If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball."
ROFL
I'm teaching my son to use a primitive sling. Every time one of us misfires a rock into the air, the words that pop into my head are, "If you can dodge a wrench..."
well that Mintabie peice bought 6 years ago, really had the whole Enchilada of colours when cut. A beautiful stone..
Your videos are the "whole enchilada". Good job and thanks.
Well this vlog had the whole Enchilada of the preparation of a spectacular finished opal for setting
Lovely opal! And personally, I do like some of those horizontal designs better than the vertical ones. There's just something different and unique about them and they are just as lovely.
Thanks for providing us with the whole enchilada about opals! Your videos never disappoint.
Wow you definitely got the whole enchilada with that stone, 125 was a steal. Very beautiful stone
What a stunning stone, even the design looked great
Sorry, Vicky, I am just testing .... Nothing to worry about! dp
I wish I could capture the color of my Opals like you captured that cheesy enchilada. Great stone.
@@PulitzerOpal I need a good camera for my macro shots.! Good tip Mr P. I thank u once a again!
That's probably the best looking Mintabie Opal I've ever seen. Those colors will knock your Enchilada off.
ENCHILADA? Certainly the whole enchilada! >>> I am gobsmacked at the size and beauty of this Opal gem! You have a keen eye sir! Thanks so much for sharing this gorgeous opal. :-)
Not gonna say the whole enchilada, cos everyone else has. Just wanna say this weeks opal is stunning, just like mommas enchiladas
I know I should have read the comments first, oh well I’m sheep 🐑 😂

Great video by the way, real Cinderella story of a parcel...
This is a really underrated channel. Watched the whole thing and don't even have a big interest in opals (until watching your channel)
also enchilada lol
He's definitely not getting the views he deserves. Glad to have you here !
Yes it is, it really is. I send every single person that asks me an opal question directly here though. I'm so glad I found it early in my cabbing endeavor, the knowledge I have gained can not have a price put on it.
Eating enchiladas with my girls for lunch while watching you work on this incredible opal. Thanks for such a informative and fun channel.
You keep opening the door for me sir thanks lots for your information. We should feel so lucky to lurn from people with alot more Experience
BIG congatulation to the winners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe you only paid $125 for such an amazing piece! Great video as usual! Thanks
This guy is the whole ENCHILADA!! He creates beautiful gemstones.
The whole enchilada, love that stone is a beauty! The world's most beautiful 💎
It's 4:30am. Sleep or Pulitzer opal? Easy decision!🤣 Gonna heat up an enchilada pour a drink and watch Pulitzer!
3:33 in Boulder Montana. I was watching old Ancient Aliens episodes. And got the notification. Insta-pause for the Colonel.
Sleep? Im just waking up drinking my coffee.
St louis watching Riddick lol
2:52 AM Reno time - was just going to head off to bed. Would rather see Opal than sleep.
Now you can dream of opals!
Beautiful stone!! What a great $125 investment that was!!
This is a beautiful opal and will make a spectacular pendant. I really enjoy these videos- addictive, entertaining and instructive.
The stone you cut today is amazing. Would love to see what you do with it, using the whole enchilada!
The setting you drew will be amazing for it!
How will the opal be set to enable all its sides to remain visible?
You should make a Bolo Tie from that one, it is afterall the official Neckwear of Arizona, you could be well dressed when you come to Tucson for the Gem and Mineral get togethers. Put it on a black shirt with white slacks and turquoise socks and you would be the whole Enchilada.
He needs white patent leather shoes to get the whole enchilada effect. Nothing less....
I'm still sitting in the back row of the theater, clapping for you....
It "SEAMS to be what it was MINTABIE"👏🙌
@@PulitzerOpal💙
OPAL ON, Dr.Don....👋
That's got to be the buy of the century! What a stunning big stone! So glad you left it as the whole enchilada 😁
Everyone is saying how this opal is the "whole enchilada," and while that may be true, no one has acknowledged how ridiculous it is that you got this for $125! If I cut a piece this good from $125 rough I would have a party! I love enchiladas by the way. . .
I love enchiladas too, kidding aside NICE STONE
@@PulitzerOpal That is incredible. I was so envious of your purchase of that stone!
Hi. I’m glad to see you went with the whole enchilada on this video! Have a great time with it. 😁
Oh and the black gloves and black background...GENIUS!
OMG! I was just starting a comment to say congrats to Boston Joe, and then you said my 'name'. Thanks so much, Colonel. You're a gem.
Holy Enchiladas! That 39 carat opal is gorgeous. The giveaways are quite nice too.
Love your videos!!!!! You always give us the whole Enchilada!!!! I can't wait for your next video!!!
Sometimes I just watch your videos enchilada the time. This opal is really magnificent!
Im not usually keen on Enchiladas but i could always train my taste buds x brilliant video with a fantastic opal i hope to see it turned into jewellery

STUNNING BEAUTIFUL OPAL! TALENTED CUTTER. 40K 4 $125.... WOW!
@@PulitzerOpal that's what dreams are made of.
That is an incredible stone for $125 dollars & the video is just as good 👍
Me and my dad used to stay up late at night and make food when he'd come home from work. One time we made enchiladas, and even though we didn't eat them til around 2am those were the best enchilada ever.
I love opal a whole enchiaLOTa and these videos! Keep up the rants and these wonderful transformations :)
You did an amazing job cutting this stone Colonel! Hats off to you 🤠 🥳
Ive never tried an enchilada, but will definitely try one, or more if needs be, to get ove of these gems of opal pieces! I really like those opals. Thank you YT for recommending this channel!
That large stone sure is the whole enchilada. Love the jewelry design that you came up for it.
Enchilada! There I said it...always love to see what materializes from rough stones...
I just discovered you and it's been magical... Beats any enchilada! Gorgeous opals 💗💗💗💗💗
Talk about the whole enchilada! That's beautiful! Unbelievable price too AWESOME!!
I would totally wear that pendant. What a beautiful design
I've never had enchilada, never even thought about it til I watched this videos on opals :) That was a gorgeous finished opal, well done, I think you made the right choice with it horizontally.
Very very cool video, and a gorgeous cut stone you have made...
I so love your word of choice but an opal enchilada will be a teeth breaker for sure... ;)
I personally would love to see the process of your sketch come into fruition. It's been awhile since you made a really nice pendant. Well they are all very nice but I mean something worthy of the safe deposit box! 😉
Enchilada Enchilada Enchilada!! Very enjoyable video and stunning stone. You did well for the price paid, well done sir.
Great show, you do really good work. I love enchiladas. Thank you for what you do
I enjoyed your clip and learning a bit about Opal stones. They are truly exquisite to look at. Best regards to you from South Africa 💫🇿🇦
Wow what a stone for just 125$. I bought my first opal when i was 7 ( just a boulder opal with very litle color) great Video gonna watch them all.
Greetings from enchilada loving germany.
That is a huge enchilada of an opal! Beautifully cut, shaped, and polished. It was interesting to see how you considered how it could be made into a piece of jewelry.
Another stunning opal! I love the color play! And, another great video. Thank you!
I love watching your videos and I learn a lot from them to. I just started to get rate into opal mining and how to find the best stuff. Keep the videos coming please and I will watch all them. I also love enchiladas that my wife makes. Much respect
enchiladas give me heartburn. your videos are the salve.
My whole body tenses up like a coiled spring when I watch you do critical cuts! 🤣
Love seam opal of all types but mintabie black opal is super hard to find now as always great job Admiral.
You have a very good imagination for jewelry, I wouldn't want to cut it up either because it has color every where! And I would wear a huge piece like that, my only problem is that I would be constantly looking at it that nothing would get done!
This might be one of the most impressive opals I've ever seen
PLEASE "READ MORE"
I once managed a Weissfield's Jewelers store back in the mid-70s. We sold all manner of fine jewelry as well as enchilada(s). 🤗 But seriously...
Out of all the different gemstones, opal was my personal favorite.
Here's something you can do with an opal that is otherworldly and all you need is a regular no frills microscope.
Set your opal in the microscope and focus on the very top and enjoy the view. Then focus just a little further into the opal till new shapes and colors sharpen. Then go a little deeper. It's like seeing into another dimension that you can't possibly see from just the surface. The deeper the opal, the more opalscapes you will see. It's like having a 10-story building that you can look down from the top at and see through the roof into the top floor, and then into the 9th floor and then into the 8th floor and on and on except that the building is made out of moving shapes and colors. The beauty of it is way beyond words.
Borrow the microscope from your kids chemistry set. You will find yourself mesmerized.
That stone turned out to be one giant answer lada I got to say it's gorgeous
Hope Shiela’s doing well haven’t heard from her in a while. Thanks for all you’ve taught me about Opal’s
love watching you work. Such intricate work that you make look so easy.
Man, I absolutely LOVE multiple colors on a black background. ~drooling~
When I saw what you purchased for $125, I almost spit out my enchilada. That's one HECK of an opal - I would have polished it freeform and kept it as a specimen!!
I’m at the whole enchilada. Forget the little rocks ring on the big ones. That big stone you just cut it was just absolutely phenomenal the $125 one yeah. I think it’ll sell for a little bit more than that.
Started watching your channel not long ago but I'm fascinated by opal and what you do. Good stuff. Enchilada.
I have enjoyed watching you working with these opals. Finding the prize inside!
The whole enchilada is worth watching over and over and over
Such a beautiful stone you got there it looks like an amazing enchilada 😉👍🤗🤫
Great purchase for only $125. What a deal. Will look awesome in that horizontal setting. Now, I’m off to get lunch. For some reason I really want some enchiladas, even though last night was Taco Tuesday.
Hi Colonel. We are having green enchilada for supper tonight. Wish you were here. Gratz on that opal. I guess it was in the cards. *TYU*
Enchilada- my daughters birth stone is Opal. It’s a beautiful stone. Your work is awesome
Definitely worth going for the whole enchilada on this one! And that setting is inspired!
I’m glad you’re using the whole enchilada after all! I’ve been using a lot of E-W designs in pendants lately. 😘
What an enchilada. That Opal is., love your show....
So fun watching the opal emerge. Not as good as homemade enchiladas, but still good.
Well Professor, we meet again. You made one hell of an enchilada with (extra red sauce) out of that beautiful opal this week. I just finished watching (3rd time, slow learner) your video on buying rough opal. I do appreciate all the videos you create. I miss Sheila though, talk about a spicy enchilada, wooooo.
This was a wonderful show with an impossible to repeat bargain opal. My little enchilada will be wanting a stone like that now, thinking I can get one for a hundred and change. Thanks for another great video, your channel is a thing of beauty
Wow, glad you enjoyed the show! That opal was indeed a unique find. Opal hunting can be quite an adventure. Keep an eye out for those special deals, and your little enchilada might just get a stunning stone someday! Thanks for being a part of our opal-loving community.
Thank you for entertaining us with your very funny videos as well as being so generous with your give aways! Enchilada !
Enchilada lol think I spelled it right.Love opals .first time I watched your show ,loved it .Cant wait to watch more .
That was one beautiful stone you got out of that rough stone. You have a whole lot of talent...and if you ever come to Austin Texas, I know a really great Mexican Restaurant and their "Enchilada" plate is fantastic!!
