January 2012, Jokić was hanging out at our mutual friends birthday party. We went outside the bar to get some fresh air and talked about sports and life in general for a bit. It was my first semester at college, and he was still in Sombor playin ball i believe. He was super shy talking about basketball because he had zero actual plans on pursuing it professionaly, he was just "let see one day at a time" and "I would like to make a decent living out of it, at least for a couple of years". I hit him up with couple of "grown up" jokes, laughed for a bit then we went inside again.
And now i am watching this.
You have NO IDEA how CRAZY is to see Lebron talking this highly of our shy hometown guy 12 years later. It's not even crazy, it's just outwordly SURREAL.
And yes, he is as down to earth as he was a decade ago. Just a pure soul.
Favourite player of all time and his ability is only half the reason. Projects so much humility despite being the best basketball player in the world for 3 years now. No social media, flashy cars or eccentric outfits. Clearly just wants to be left alone with his family and teammates. A breath of fresh air from the ego’s we’ve become accustomed to.

Love seeing Bron and JJ say that Jokic is up there as one of the highest IQ players in the league. Jokic is also so damn hard to guard.
Bron will always respect Jokic. They both play the right way, they can score, but if their guy is open they are making that pass. They instill confidence in their team mates.

It’s why Anthony Davis has dropped a lot of spaces in my all-time list watching Jokic actually use post moves to score while having to watch Anthony Davis throw up some stupid hook shot or throw throw his body into the defender for an easy foul. It just makes me realize that Anthony Davis doesn’t have any basketball IQ.
@@basketballgod2791 that's literally not true. He's still one of the highest IQ players in the league, he just isn't that good of a passer when compared to Jokic but he's still better than most bigs.
@@basketballgod2791if you don't think he has any basketball IQ watch him play defence. Would still give jokic higher all-time for sure. But ad can average 25-12-4-1.5-3 which is insane. His defence is when his IQ becomes apparent

This was the kind of talks that Kobe was doing before he passed (RIP). JJ and Lebron doing this is so awesome. Honestly I was hoping Chris Paul was going to step into this sort of analysis talks when he retires.
Like Paul, Wade, Melo, Bron, and JJ would be awesome if they did a whole analysis series with guests.
It’s crazy coz when I thought about them having a guest, Cp3 name came up as well. Hope they can make that happen.
Hopefully Bron and JJ bring guests on and in the future increase the number of episodes per week and possibly add new segments. The opportunities and potential is endless.

I want to like this podcast more than I do. I want to learn the game better so I can enjoy watching it as much as I enjoy football. But one area it would help me with is if you could show the teams bringing the ball up court too. And watching the early movement and spots guys are running too.

Jokic is the best at doing it since he can make any type of pass, while Giannis and Embiid are mainly threats to score off this action.
The thing is during jokic's early years that's the case. But now, he worked hard in his offensive game that currently he could be that much of a threat scoring the ball like joel and giannis using the pnr.

Brons basketball IQ is absolutely unbelievable. Not only his understanding of the game but he remembers everything. When he is on the court he is literally seeing everything crystallize around him so he knows exactly what is about to happen.

I remember watching the couple of high school games of Lebron's his senior year and thinking that despite obviously being an insane athlete he was just such a great passer and teammate even at that level when he was worlds better than his teammates. He is definitely a basketball genius paired with a truly gifted athlete all wrapped up in a world class work ethic. Currently #1 in scoring and #4 in assists and he is averaging more assists/year than Chris Paul now who is #3. And this year he is shooting better from the field than his career average, his career best from 3pt range, better from the line too. That is just insane at 39.
You sometimes hear players say the screen roll action is the hardest action to guard in the game. Five minutes with LeBron and J.J. and you see why. There are actions, defensive reactions, and offensive responses that are just poetry in motion. I love basketball! ❤

They're such a good duo, JJ also communicates so well so it's like he can breakdown what Lebron says in a way that's more digestible to a non-player, Lebron talks about basketball more in tongues. JJ can speak the tongue but also help ask questions to get Lebron to explain better for mortals lol
No matter what, the offense has the advantage of being able to create space either for the ball handler or the screener. So often that third defender becomes key at reading the angle and spacing.
Bron’s already great at this, but once he gets some of that polish as a podcaster and media personality that JJ’s already mastered, this thing is gonna be straight 🔥🔥🔥
