9:13 According to a Desk video, in World Warrior Bison's scissor kick isn't even a special; it's a normal, so the CPU is throwing out one-button scissor kicks
@@withchrisandkeith508 That doesn't matter. The CPU does the exact same thing with other characters that have moves that are designated special moves. You can fight Guile and the cpu will do advancing sonic booms and flash kicks. It won't even pretend like it has to charge them. The CPU treats all moves as if they're one button moves. It's essentially modern controls for the CPU except it gets full damage and access to all of it's moves both special and normal and all as one button inputs.
In World Warrior, Balrog, Vega, Sagat, and Bison had a special where they take double damage. For Balrog, his Turn-a-Round Punch. Vega, his background dive. Sagat, Tiger Uppercut. And Bison, Psycho Crusher. This is why despite Smug's Shoryuken's doing lsss dmg than crouching HP, whenever he landed a Shoryuken against Vega after he jumped off the cage wall, he took considerably more dmg.
Ok, for those that don't know, this is how you beat CPU Claw: 1. Knock him down. 2. Safe jump so he backflips on wakeup. 3. Throw him when he finishes backflipping (or combo him if your timing is good, but you better stun him!) 4. Repeat step 2. OR 1. Air-to-air him with a heavy attack so that you land first. 2. Jump before he lands so that he will jump to chase you. 3. Repeat steps 1-2 until he is dizzy. 4. Hit Vega with your best non-crossup TOD combo. Please send the quarters you save to me. 😊
I remember beating Street Fighter 2 for the SNES only twice on the hardest difficulty back in my childhood. And I remember also only 2 moments of it: 1. Playing as Chun-li and doing the wall jump dance against Vega while using medium kick in the air and on the second playthroug using guile and air grabbing the shit out of Lord Bipson and he he was acting like he won‘t get command grabbed.
For each of the bosses in the original World Warrior version of SF2, there was an opportunity to do double damage if you countered a specific move. For Balrog, it was the turn punch. For Vega, it was the cage leap, for Sagat, it was the Tiger Uppercut, and Bison, it was the torpedo.
My first time playing through the game I had no idea how many final bosses there were, and I was convinced that Vega HAD to be the final boss he was so damn difficult.
In this game Bison's scissor kick isn't considered a charge move I believe. It's just a normal attack and its weirdly OP. Up close, you can block both hits standing. From a distance, the second hit is considered a low and it leads to a combo. Only charge moves are the stomp and the psycho crusher
Watching you get salty losing in this game, brought back so much joy and PTSD at the same time. Us older heads remember how the CPU straight up cheated with no real rhyme or reason just to win.
The best way I found to beat Vega and M.Bison was to back my ass up to the corner and hold up. The AI doesn't seem to know what to do with repeated neutral jumps so when it eventually walks forward press HK and kick it in the face. Repeat until victory is achieved. To beat Sagat, exchange a $10 bill for a roll of quarters and hope it's enough.
Desk made a video going into detail how the CPU cheats. Towards the end the CPU doesn't even try to hide it anymore. If you get guile as your first opponent the CPU will act like it's charging but it's really not. But if you get him at the end before the sub bosses he'll just constantly keep doing flash kicks and sonic booms with out charging. Yeah these games were made to take your money. Back in the arcade days I remember speaking to one of the operators and asked him why the CPU was so difficult and he told me that they put the difficulty at the hardest (he obviously didn't say why, but I knew). That arcade was mostly for PVP so he knew the regulars, fortunately he was a cool dude and lowered the difficulty on all the fighting game cabinets so that everyone that wasn't there for vs matches could have a good time.
In order to unlock the endings with the credits, you have to beat the game without losing a single match and/or losing a single round in a match, and considering how purposely difficult the CPU is in the arcade games, I don't really blame you for having such a difficult time fighting Vega and the other bosses at the end.
Thanks for the content! Man...I played SF2 Turbo, against the CPU Ken, on level 1 difficulty...I felt like I was playing an SNK boss, I don't remember it being THAT difficult or am I not as good as I thought... XD
The thing with M. Bison's scissors kick in the World Warrior; it's not a special move. You'll see it's input simply HK if you use boss hacks, so if you try to block it, you won't take any chip damage.
CPU controlled charge characters don't have to charge to do their moves. The worst offender of that is Guile, who can walk forward and then do Flash Kick
This game was intentionally designed with unfair AI. You notice this in a few things: their normals have greater reach than yours in mirrors, their attacks do slightly more damage, And they have ambiguous links that a human hand could never perform. So while this game is beatable It's still "rigged".
Fun fact. The reason why the AI spams jumps and backflips in arcade mode is because the ai for Claw literally can't block. I believe the devs had to do this in order to force the ai to actually play the way the character was intended.
