Well said. Indeed. I prefer Cha Cha Cha so much more than "Rise like a phoenix". They do not understand the song and the mood of the real people's winner.
I think when u react to songs in general u should try to check The lyrics too as they r in a big role on songs as u know. And of course on this story he is telling!
Its like u r having hard week behind, and now u wanna get on going without worries or thoughts of tomorrow. You r fighting against your shyness(many of us has) with some Piña Coladas and one by one drink u r finally winning yourself and turning into totally new person that can do anything and is not afraid anymore!
I think its a great power song even if u r not a drinker. In some interview he said he does not encourage people to drink. U do it or not. Dont be afraid to be yourself.
UMK Live show(the one where they pick up Käärijä to go eurovision) was really amazing I think! and yes there is BIG Energy on Käärijä's performances.
I've been on his 2 gigs now and can say that he is one big entertainer(not only music but feels like he has a lot of fun on chats in between songs, crazy jokes I can tell!).
I am big fan of the lyrics they came up in many of his songs! Many relatable stories with Banger music!

I believe they're not doing research ahead on purpose as they really wanna guesstimate how well the song could do without being biased. If there's one thing we know about Eurovision, it's that most audience is not familiar with the songs ahead of the finals. Her reaction thus reflects better the reaction of the whole audience and not just that of the fandom

This is much more properly for a show contest not for a properly song contest where of course performance is important but only when It comes with a good quality and talented voice live and not with Auto tune what is nowadays more than a contender tend to do. Italy, Portugal, Spain, France and so more are bringing that quality voice, and in case of Portugal and Spain something really interesting on stage besides, bourlesque Portugal and ethnic Flamenco electronic sounds Spain.
ESC has always been about the performance too, its not a singing contest only. You can sing the best song , but if your performance is bedge, you won't win.
Performance has always weighed 50/50 with the vocal performance
