I love it when he looks back and it's as if he's asking whether I can go just a bit faster. My boy LOVES it and it's been very good for me as well both physically and mentally. It's our favourite time of the day. It's OUR time.

I love canicross. My Siberian husky used to be quite the escape artist from our backyard…I figured if I have to chase her we may as well make a sport of it. 😂 She is a wonderful running partner. We run together 4 times a week right now and walk on the other days.

Such an amazing feeling to run with your dog - both working as a team! Love it ! Great tip we were given is to give a joint supplement to prevent joint damage, we use Antinol, and mine increased his speed!

I have just seen a post on my local FB dog walking group. A behaviourist has posted about how bad it is for your dog and how they won’t enjoy it etc etc. I have just started running with my dog, small runs/walks whilst I get fit and build stamina (my dog is already an athlete!). I kindly questioned the guy as to why he thinks this (genuinely wouldn’t do it if I thought my dog hated it) but he was really vague. He has made me a bit hesitant about continuing.

My dumps his harness on my bed if I don't wake up for running. He loves it. If your dog wants it and you want it don't let anyone spoil it for you.

Assuming you aren't running on hot summer days and hot asphalt, the only time running would be bad for a dog would be if it had really bad hips or if it was a young puppy and it wasn't fully developed yet.

He's talking absolute crap. I live in a family of dog behaviorists. My parents met at the facility they gave lessons at. If the dog doesn't have any physical problems and actually likes running, than it's an amazing sport. As mentioned, just use some common sense. Don't run on hot asphalt or hot days, don't run pups, do other walks too where you let them sniff and be a dog and I would add, don't force a dog that doesn't want to. But if they are excited and actually want to run, it's a great hobby.
I have 2 dogs I was intending to run. But my female developed knee issues and she doesn't enjoy running. She is good for the start but quickly slows down and wants to walk. So I don't run her. But my male... He jumps up on all 4's in the air when he sees his running gear and screams like a maniac. He absolutely enjoys it! I had trouble making him stop running when we first started training. My tips would be to get your dog health checked before you start running especially the heart, lungs and joints. Support their body with joint supplements and a good diet (not high in carbs but good protein for an athlete dog) and if your dog likes it, go for it. Goodluck

You say anybody can do it as long as you have fun, we have 2 Huskies and we don’t have fun walking or using the Canicross belt, one in particular is too strong, they get tangled constantly and the prey drive is unreal, regardless of background setting what advice would you give me? To move forward.
I feel we are going backwards to the point we don’t enjoy owning the dogs, taking them out anywhere, it’s awful.
We also have a Jack-chi who comes out with the Huskies, he is not really the issue 😢

Hi, can a non-stop Line harness be used for canicross?

    • @non-stopdogwear

For pulling activities, we do recommend our Freemotion harness. If your dog is not a strong puller, our Line harness can be used as well
