I would love to send you my Weather report so we could practice. I’m learning how to cut down words that are unnecessary, but I want to get it so that I can read it without tripping up. I usually do good about the first couple lines and then I trip up in the middle because I’m running out of time on 30 seconds, the script wrote about 72 words and I’m trying to get it down so that is like you say much more natural
That's totally doable, all you have to do is practice! Work up your script, record yourself reading from it, review the recording, note where you want to make adjustments, and repeat the process until it feels natural to you. You've got this!
Great video and great tips! Thank you for sharing your wisdom!
Glad it was helpful! 🎉
I'm so jealous of your delivery,! Currently I write out my scripts and put them on a music stand in sight, and try to quickly memorize and delivery it sentence at a time. It's very annoying. I have noticed that when I write my first script draft, it's usually using good grammar, but when I rewrite it, I always change it into my own speaking voice. But I still feel like not enough of my real personality comes through when I'm talking. It's still a character I'm playing. My big goal is to get it closer to me. Long story short, I just bought the prompter and haven't put it together yet. I stuimblied on your assembly video. Funny thing is, I didn't realize until watching your videos that I can also use it to livestream and see the chat window. Can't wait untiul tomorrow when I assemble it. Thanks for the great videos!
I just got my teleprompter setup yesterday and used it for the first time. I was laughing and annoyed at the same time. Even while reading out the script I was thinking - "who talks like this?!" I think today I'll try just using key bullet points and wing it - hopefully then I'll get more personality going on :-)
Glad you found this helpful! Just keep working at it, you'll there soon.
You will - it just takes practice!
Fantastic advice thank you Luria!
You're so welcome! 🎆
Amazing, you are the Very Best. Thank you for sharing this.
So glad it's helpful!! You're very welcome. 😊
Loved this video
I'm so glad this was helpful for you! 🎉 Hope you'll let us know how it goes!
LOVE THESE TIPS!!! Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
You are so welcome! ♥
Great video!!
Thanks!
I think you're right--I don't think I've heard tip #4 ever on CZcams. Great info, Luria. I'm recording in about an hour. I normally get rid of blank lines for paragraph breaks but I'm going to add them back in for tonight's recording. I'm also going to look away, which I've avoided to date.
One additional tip is to stand up while recording if possible. I'm more energetic that way and I think others are too.
Great stuff as always, Luria!
👍
Very helpful! Thank you! BTW I missed your live training. Another coming? Thanks!

And glad this was helpful!!!
Super useful!!! Thanks a lot!!🎉
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent tips. I stumbled upon most of them over the past few years of scripting my shows. For reviews I script the first part, but once I'm actually tasting wine, there's just blank screen until my outro. My laptop is my controller so I do use it to help with pacing. Or just repeating sections when I mess up. I do like the 2-sentence paragraphs tip. Mine are more traditional length, but I can see the advantage of that for editing.
Sounds like you've got the right set up for you, congrats!
Great info!!
I write my teleprompter scripts in google docs using my microphone and the voice transcription function - so it originates as a spoken script - I then edit for dictation errors/formatting.
That’s helped me a lot - and it’s a fast process.
Good tip, thanks!
I'm so glad this was helpful for you! 🎉 Hope that maybe you'll be able to stop by and say hey during one of our live streams someday! (Friday at 10:00am PT) 🙂
♥️
You are welcome
👍
i thought i was just bad at reading scripts but tip #4 genuinely makes me feel a lot better about myself knowing it's not just a me problem LOL, great video!
Love that!
One of the worst productions with a promoter I ever did was with a company who took the script I wrote, AND THEY EDITED IT DOR PROPER GRAMMAR. It was sooo challenging for me to seem relaxed and chatty when their script wasn’t relaxed. I tried to admin and “CUT.” They’d have me do over. In the final product you could see me reading. 😞 Being chatty and comfy is way more fun.
Oh my, yes!! ♥️ I'm sorry you had to go through that...
Just recently purchased the Elgato Prompter after watching one of your video's. Your first point, write how you would speak it, start a a sentence with 'And'. Perfect timing of you video as I have to create some videos over then next few months.
Cheers!
YAY!!!
Hi there , trying to use prompter for zoom but can’t drag anything onto the prompter screen as an extended monitor. How can I fix this? Thanks
Is it set to mirror maybe? If you don’t see it at all in your systems monitors, then go to the magnifying glass in the top right corner of your Mac, and search for Display Link (then hit enter to open). It’s not an app but an extension that will show in the top taskbar
I like the scripting tips. My tiny viewership on my tiny CZcams channel (I like it small - growing the channel would bring more hate comments) basically said they didn't like it when I read from a script. I didn't have a proper teleprompter it was just an app on my phone but was ok I thought. Except I didn't sound like me when I was reading a script. I still thought I sounded ok and let me tell you I was more on point and concise with a script - the comparison wasn't even close, but not one comment said they liked the scripted videos more than the unscripted ones. I didn't check the viewtime to see if people watched the scripted videos longer. I probably should - people may say one thing and do another or rather the people writing comments were much invested in the topic and willing to suffer through longer videos than most people.
I'm thinking of doing scripts again because I LIKE writing them more than the off the cuff rambling and was thinking I should try tweaking how I write to make it sound more natural. Your tips echo that thought and I was really impressed with the tip you were given to put the short prepositions on a new line.
Anyway, you mentioned there was a magic number and you could increase the font size so that you could be up close to the camera but didn't go into that. I guess I need to look for your other videos.
Some people like to write out the full script and others find that bullet points work best for them - you'll find what works best for you! 👍
Wow. You can really deliver personality effortlessly! I think you can make any topic sound interesting and engaging :-) It would be great to see your office setup sometime.
Here ya go! czcams.com/video/27USidXccBg/video.html
I know this is not the topic today, But several years ago I bought a countdown timer with Snow falling..is there any way to get that back and adjust the time like 10 minutes...?
Please contact support@livestreamingpros.com for assistance or questions regarding any purchase from the Live Streaming Pros store. Thanks!
Tip 4 was worth the wait. I was shocked. Can't believe they allowed you to say that kind of thing on CZcams.
🤣
I can't seem to get hold of an Elgato Prompter so I an gonna build my own by replacing the iphone with an HDMI screen!
DIY FTW! 😁 Hope things go well! 🤞
@@LiveStreamingPros thanks Luria I will give you some feedback!
But a lot of hosts or on camera talent are not the ones writing the scripts.....
What about the tip about prompter proximity to the lens?
Making an audio cue with a visual cue at the points in which a mistake was made for more easy cutting during editing?
Most of MY audience are writing their own scripts, HOWEVER - even if you're not, I would never ever ever step in front of a camera without massaging the script into my own voice, AND doing the things I know I need to to the script in order to make sure I'm successful reading it. That's always been in my contracts on professional jobs where someone else is writing the script - I get final script approval. :)
Yeah, that's one that will definitely be in my Teleprompter Mastery training! There are WAY too many to cover in this video LOL - livestreamingpros.com/prompter
@@LiveStreamingPros But you having "final script approval" is actually not how most of the teleprompter reading hosts have it.... You do realize that's abnormal for the industry that reads off prompters, right? That's a privilege you have which many many others do not.
