Physical touch but I also HATE being touched most of the time so it's an interesting conundrum 🤔
Apparently I’m 30% words of affirmation 23% quality time 23% touch 20% acts of service and 3% gifts which I suppose is bc when I was younger people around me would use gifts to manipulate me so ig now I have that association.
Apparently Physical touch is my primary (29%) but with Words of affirmation quality time in a close second (26%).. acts of service under 20% Gift giving a big PHAT ZEROOOO
1) Physical touch, 2) act of servise and 3) quality time are relatively close to each other then 4) words of affirmation and last with 0%, gifts. I used to think, act of service was clear n:o 1 thing for me, but with current partner, I can trully flourish, and be touchy-feely person I truely am. As love is regularly expressed with my primary love languages, I have also learned to love more words of affirmation as they don't feel empty, but totally full of meaning.
My family used not to hug (before my grandma died). It took me time to learn to be as touchy as I want to be. I didn't know I preferred it as it was not very much part of my life. Also previous long term partner was not a touchy person.

Just the other day my friends and I were talking at lunch about what our love languages are. The topic of conversation had so suddenly swerved that direction that without thinking about it I blurted out, "I'm illiterate." 🤣🤣
(For context: I am actually on the ace/aro spectrum so it's the truest intrusive thought I've ever had.)

No joke, my actual gynecologist went on a very unprompted rant about how he believes China intentionally created and spread covid during one of my recent visits. The whole time my brain was like, "why are *you* telling me this?" I walked out with a lot less respect for the guy.

Same happened to me. Needless to say I changed gynecologist and I am not seeing her anymore. It was not just that, other things were wrong (man hating, condescending, weird boundaries etc.)

I would be interested to see how this interacted with NeuroDivergent brains, especially people with sensory issues, how do needs interact with wants, and if someone has physical touch as a love language but hates being touched by most people (trust/sensory issues).
also if words of affirmation gets knocked out of the running for people with low self-esteem who have trust difficulties and hear the comments as sarcastic/insincere/etc.

I only just found this episode. I took the test online and my main 2 love languages (with only 3% difference) were 1st: Quality Time and 2nd: Physical Touch
This topic makes a lot of sense to me now - my ex and his mother were REALLY big on promoting a love language to me, but they were very religious (I am not).
His mother would always nag me to take the test, even though I mentioned I like quality time. He would always do acts of service. No wonder it didn’t last 🤣
Lovely insight on understanding a bit of the psychology behind it more - despite it not being entirely reliable.

Love language depends on the person. My mother loves when I help her do a task, so when she helps me in that way I feel more loved because I know it’s hers. Make sense?

It’s so weird that people go to pastors for marriage counseling if they don’t have education in that area. Especially surrounding trauma and things like that.
Especially is some of that trauma is based in religion!!

Sorry to disappoint, I‘m cis and bi. My love language is DEFINITELY physical touch haha.
I think the issue of if it's scientific or not is more so about the need for social scientists to belong to the sciences because it is difficult to do it any other way to collect the first information sort of like gravity or the theory of relativity the first instance is often not scientific the issue I there is a more clear scientific method for the natural sciences I better defined an easier. The biases as well as issues related to the scientific methods being quantitative or longitudinal is very difficult to do especially as an individual so it's the job of the field to improve upon his work

Bell Hooks 'All about Love' talks all about these differences in giving and receving love between Men & Women (mostly because of institutional and psychological patriarchy lol).. but she doesnt rly talk much about queer relationships...
