What I love is that he isn't a shredder or plays speedy licks, but his hooks and riffs that he creates are so simple and catchy and they work well with his music. Go Tom!

It's funny that he says "punk rock ANTHEM" cause the beginning riff of Everything's Magic is super similar to Anthem Part 2. Before he adds the D string into play, it's literally the exact same thing.
Yet it's so different.

I'm not a huge punk fan but I like this guy's music and I respect his guitar playing. Very talented guy.
Tom Makes the Easiest songs with simple melodies that turn out to be the most amazing songs i have ever heard and he has become so famous, fuck those who think u MUST be amazing at shreading and solo's. This is why i love tom. he shows that ability doesnt matter when you wanna make good music, he is my Idol o nGuitar and song writing. now i know ill never need lessons to be good :)

Omg yes. thats exactly it. the whole root note thing he was talking about is exactly what i learned from blink and angels while playing along with the songs. now my song writing is 200% better. it helps alot knowing that simple little thing

He kind of explains it at 2:27 . Well ascending notes. Just know some scales, and move those shapes around. Use your ears.
get the scale and fool around with that, some things will sound weird.... some will sound good, just keep those... and put then on a blender :) when i becomes nice try some effects :) presto!

HAHA I am just like Tom. When I come home from school I plug in my guitar, play hardcore punk and get slower and more mellower and just pass out holding it on my chest. I literally do that everyday.

I've played guitar since I was 12 and these chords he's saying taught him everything I started doing on my own without hearing them anywhere out of need for a bigger sound as I always play on my own and it was my attempt to add a bass line to my songs as I didn't own a bass at the time or a mulitrack.

Nah it's definitely Everythings Magic. I see the similarity, and there's also a similar riff in Epic Holiday.
Tom is nowhere near the best guitarist out there........but he is by far my favorite guitarist.
