  • First breakdown on our 2021 T@B 320 S
    After months on the road and 3,500 miles, the 2021 T@B 320 S Boondock Edition needed maintenance. We went through troubleshooting protocols to try to DIY our issues, but ultimately we had to take it in to a dealer. The following three items needed to get checked out.
    1. ALDE System glycol leak
    2. Bluetooth control braker
    3. Running toilet
    Special thanks to @Apache camping Center | Poulsbo for taking us in on short notice. Make Sure to check them out for Nucamp trailers!

    Welcome to the PNW! Fortunately you were stranded during a period of blue skies and found some great wi-fi locations.
    I'm 66 and wanted nothing to do with a blue-tooth/phone trailer braking system because I am VERY low tech. Unfortunately, the Jeep dealership (Jeep in general) was not helpful in wiring in an electric brake controller in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 Ltd, and they said my little trailer (2021 T@b 320S Boondock) didn't even need brake assist! Fortunately a very knowledgable young man named Cody at U-Haul was able to hardwire in a brake controller and I'm a happy camper. Your trailer brakes locking up was exactly the nightmare scenario I envisioned with a wireless system.
    I love Apache Camping Center! I purchased my unit from their dealership in Tacoma WA and stopped in at their Everett branch to have some questions answered on my way up to Bayview State Park for a 4-night camping trip. Take care and thx for sharing! Jody 👩‍🦳 Olympia, WA
    PS. Looks like your fur babies had a good time during the layover!

    Thank for the video as always. This heater problem is super nasty for those out of warranty. Apparently Apache/Nucamp will not do this gratis even though it is a known problem and the newer models have changed to improve. You were lucky to work out that kink under warranty! Bon voyage.

    I had one wheel lock up on the freeway, Caused flat spot on the tire, I unplugged the cable from the truck, the brake released. Plugged the cable back and worked fine and never happened again. yet. That was 3 years ago. I trouble shoot the connections but never found anything. I am using the F150 builtin tow & brake controller. Nucamp could not suggest any reasons for the one wheel lock up. No Glycol problems yet but don't use the heating much in SoCal.

    A blessed couple indeed. I have a 2021 4Runner and want either the 320 or the 400, well let’s be honest the 400 is my first choice.
    I took a solo trip to Moab twice in as many months I slept in the 4runner with the engine idling all night and had my $17 Walmart carbon monoxide detector for peace of mind. (Really nothing to worry about in that respect however) used 1/2 gallon of gas an hr. Maybe you guys in a pinch when it’s to warm could pile in to the Jeep.
    It’s awesome that you two can earn on the go and enjoy travel.
    Both of you are very natural on video too. 😂

    I have gone through 3 Curt Echo controllers. My first one worked great (with my 2021 T@B 320) for 7 months and then started locking up. It did that with both my 1995 Toyota T100 and my 2019 Volvo XC90. My dealer gave me a new one to try. Same problem. I took it back to the dealer. They tried a 3rd Echo and the service manager tried it with her truck and phone. She was driving with me and within 2 miles it was locking up.
    When I called Curt, the guy I spoke with acted like I was crazy because "they never break!". I can only say that the 3 units that I tried were total pieces of crap.
    The dealer swapped me a Tekonsha RF controller that works ok but it's very sensitive and will still lock up, though not as badly. I think I'm going to have to spend the $ for a normal wired controller. Or go back to backpacking...

    I have a 2020 and had warranty repairs before I even took it off the lot. After 3 3-4 day trips less than 10 miles from home, and never using the toilet not even once, I have issues in the bathroom and it's back at the shop for another few weeks. These are supposed to be much better than other RV companies, but if they were they don't seem to be now. For the money, the warranties should be much longer, and instead of fixing things they need to have better QC. There are so many visually imperfect things in mine, I wonder how it could pass. Sorry about your situation, I hope it gets fixed permanently for you.

    • @buickratrod
      @buickratrod Před 3 lety

    Question for you: with the braking issue, how were you even able to drive it in to the service center? I'd be thinking immediately about doing a flatbed tow! Also, thanks for this - we're new 320 boondock owners and are heading out on our first shakedown trip today. You were both so reassuring: if something goes wrong, we just need to roll with it.

    • @chrisgris6553
      @chrisgris6553  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Susan,
      Yes we were able to drive it around. It would only lock when we were going really slow or coming to a stop. It did not lock when we were on the freeways or driving above 20.

    With the faulty ALDE valve, other than the obvious leakage of glycol outside(any leakage inside the TAB?) were there any warning signs like weird noises(other from the ghost) or ALDE control panel messages?

    • @chrisgris6553
      @chrisgris6553  Před 3 lety

      Thankfully now leakage inside the T@B. Just the outside leak when using the heater. Alde Control Panel was fine as well.
