That and right before Gus killed Victor, Walt was begging them to just let them back to work so Gus is all like “ok, you wanted that so badly now why are just sitting around doing nothing?”

All Victor’s threatening aura stemmed from how little he spoke. As soon as he started yapping too much, he lost his value to Gus.
Victor was already doomed, the entire ruse was to get rid of him. Gus already knew Victor had entered a crime scene (for no reason) and got himself seen by multiple people. A later episode showed a police sketch of him. So he was a loose end and Gus had to get rid of him. And indeed, Walt was right: Gus couldn't yet get rid of him because he was the only one who could do a proper cook. (Jesse eventually gets good enough to do it on his own but this is later in the season).
@@drygnfyreThe fear from Mike shows that it was his realization that he was working for a monster who saw them all as expendable. He probably didn't know Victor was compromised when he killed him. Victor was practically acting like he was employed by Gus for his thinking skills. Gus is the only boss in that room. Victor was overconfident in value to Gus's organization.

I loved the part where Gus shouts “It’s Gussin time” right before slitting Victors throat. That part was so unexpected
Seriously the best part about this scene is mike instinctively pointing his gun at gus despite being calm and just waitjng for gus the whole time. Theres very few times i can actually remember mike being genuinely startled like that in bb and bcs
it's interesting how viktor's blood flowed back between the top and side camera angles. maybe he was trying his best to survive.

Everyone's dialogue and acting and dialogue is so great that it becomes seemless! Walt's panic and bravato, Mike's shock and Gus being the only person in the room to know whats about to happen, such a great moment

It was always just Victor. An earlier scene confirmed Victor had been seen (and it was completely pointless, he had no reason to enter the crime scene). Gus was indeed smart and knew he still needed Walt and Jesse. He couldn't kill either off yet. And it was also a veiled warning to Mike (as Walt successfully tricked him in the previous episode).

This scene is more brilliant when you piece it together, people made all kinds of assumptions on why Gus killed Victor, but the show made it clear it's because he was witnessed at the crime scene, what Gus did here is basically blaming both Walt, Jesse, and Mike for Victor's death, had them stained in his blood and then washed his hands as if to say "this is on you, not me", Mike is included because he was in charge and he messed up.
Gus did not find Victor's work acceptable
This is one of the best scenes of Breaking Bad, ever. You realize just how calculated Gustavo Fring is. He's so multifaceted, you don't know what he thinks about for at least most of the time. Was he going to cut up Walter White and Jesse Pinkman? Was he going to go through with it? You can't read someone like him. He's too smart. Also, I'm first!

It's ambiguous but it's either because he stepped out of line with the whole lab thing or because he was seen by the police or both also to intimidate Walter and Jesse of course
He might not have been a chemist but he sure was loyal to Gus. I've never understood this plot twist. Seemed very unrealistic and illogical. Gus was very pragmatic and logical. So this made no sense at all. Lazy writing looking for shock value. Doesn't work.
Victor was seen at gales apartment after he died. He had a reason.
It made perfect sense. He'd been seen by a witness at Gale's apartment. From Gus' point of view, Victor had to go. Disposing of him like this also sent a message to everyone else.

Fun fact: This was not in the script but Giancarlo wanted to improvise so he murdered Jeremiah Bitsui (Actor who plays Victor) in order to make the scene even more terrifying
