So, having watched all these highlights...did the Celtics intentionally stop running their, like, three best sets a month ago, so that teams would watch tape of them playing hero ball and and 5-out to prepare for the playoffs? Or did they actually forget how to do what works best? It's WILD how good they were at the start of the year, how cohesive, and things have been stagnant for longer than just clinching.

They 100% tried to not show anything after clinching first seed, those two TNT games were so obvious.

@@Zepdos Oh for sure after the clinch, but I'm talking the few weeks before that - the early season highlights of this team are crazy. And they got less crazy so gradually, I didnt really notice - until now, when Timi is putting all these videos together.

@@Mitch_Feral I don’t want to make excuses for multimillionaires, but its kinda understandable. If you don’t have to use 100% every game and risk injury, why would you? If 85-90% effort will still give you a winning record down the stretch, and no other team can really knock you off the number 1 spot, only makes sense to coast to the end of the season. I’m slightly worried about them turning on maximal effort. After losing in the in-season tournament, they showed early on that they can’t always put in playoff level effort when required.

@@Zepdos Oh, this wasnt a criticism. It's more that I've been wondering about it for awhile, but figured that was wishful thinking - like, the C's are playing lackluster ball for the last two months, but it's actually on purpose? Seems convenient. But watching the highlights of the season, it's not like these guys all forgot how to run a pick and roll, right?
Im all for giving appropriate effort, bc it is a long season, and in a lot of ways, a longer playoffs. But I'm worried, too. Honestly, mostly I'm worried that Tatum hasnt grown up enough to deal with his own shortcomings in the clutch, and the challenge it presents to the team - like, if I know he's not gonna pass, and that he's willing to jack up a terrible look late in the clock if you press him, I can hardly imagine the folks watching tape on him dont know.
