The bass pedals dislodged all my dental fillings! Superb live tune - so lucky to have seen the original touring band play this. Memories......

Spectral Mornings is a desert island album! Wonderfully uplifting.

Oh Steve, you're killing me with the sweetest nostalgia with this song. My personal memory is 1979 and 1980, Birmingham Odeon. Indeed those mighty bass pedal tones shook the auditorium. What an exquisite experience. To feel those notes physically in the body as well as hear them. That and the strains of the mellotron (novatron). I remember thinking to myself in that moment. This is more Genesis than Genesis. I'm forever indebted to you for continuing to bring us the 'orchestral' beauty and awe-inspiring music of Genesis and your equally beautiful music after leaving Genesis.

To my mind the best track off Spectral Mornings and one of Mr Hackett's best overall. The sense of unease generated by the opening notes and rhythms is very striking.

    Love thes segments
You have to love social media that you can get up close and personal to artists you admire and get in depth insight into their music.
When I was young you had to hunt musical newspapers like NME for any quotes or interviews with your heroes. It was rare, and really nothing on television. Even music shows Old Grey Whistle Test were not interview format. Rockstar seemed so far away and unreachable.
Fantastic song, saw Steve I. 1979 on Spectral Mornings tour, amazing. Several other times in 80s.
Clearly a super nice guy. What a treat.

😯Blew me away seeing this live in Liverpool ('79?). My first live gig!
Thanks for changing my musical outlook for the better.
Loved the acoustic set also 👌. So serene and etheral 😑.

Been a fan of Genesis since 2017. Funny, a couple of days ago I discovered the album Spectral Mornings. That album is blowing me away so hard. Thanks, Steve! from a young lad of 21 years!
Hope after covid you can return to my hometown Guadalajara Mexico to see you live!

Those pedals shook the HELL out of *my* foundations, as well as those of the Roxy Theater in Hollywood California - November 1981. To this day, it was the greatest, most intense & powerful night of music I've ever witnessed. I was a Hackett newb that night: Been a fan for life ever since.

Stuart yeah was going to post that sentiment. Glad you beat me to it. The piece is " O Fortuna" I think. I'm surprised he didn't talk about that.

I brought my daughter and husband along to the gig in Folkestone last year. Looking around, the place was packed with balding men in glasses. All of a similar age to me and my husband! ‘Am I really that old?’ I thought.
I was wondering what my son in law Chris would make of it as he was a lover of black metal in his teenage years.
He absolutely loved the head banging quality of this track and told me it was the best gig he’d ever been to!

Steve I saw you perform Clocks live in 79 with the touring band you talk of here and the whole show blew me away completely! Clocks on album is Earth shattering as it is but live it is the ultimate ball buster foundation shaker of lesser buildings I agree! One of your darkest yet most epic songs in your discography!
