What a great movie, the ending is a bit of a puzzle but makes some sense if you get that the little girl was as insane as mama. Where the older one understood that mama was dangerous.
The little girl also spent much more time of her life with mama than the older one. Like growing up with mama instead of her parents like the older girl did.

no... It's because the little girl was just too attached to "mama" as she was with the girls since they were little, especially Lily. She grew up knowing only her as an "adult figure"... the older sister understands more because she is older when they got stuck in that house!

This film is a horror classic... I don't care what the critics say, this film has haunted me with it's story.. the "Mama" of the film, looking after those children, scares me and haunts me...the ending as well, makes so much sense, but after witnessing it I was in complete disbelief. One of the best horror films of my generation, and hopefully more directors will look up to films like this...

Hanna M good for you. I saw The Other Woman with my bestie. He really is funny (hated the character). If you haven't done so, please watch "A Thousand Times Goodnight" which is a sad but beautiful film. A war movie it is. Very well worth the watch.
I didn't really like this movie. It did have creepy scenes, but I just thought the movie was slow and I got bored. Honestly, the scariest moment during the movie was when, on the site I was watching it from, the movie randomly started glitching and all of a sudden a KFC ad started playing at max volume

I kinda liked the ending since I felt so bad for that poor mama ghost.
saw this movie many times great storyline the character of Mama was not like the other negative ghost character as shown in other movies she never hurts both the kids infact loved and cared for them like her own kid. Good story content really loved this movie. in the end instead of horror i just got emotional by seeing the climax great acting done by all the cast especially both the kids and mama
I just finished it, saw it many times. But it still got me, horror and made me cry many times. The story itself is unique, and the plot, acting especially the children acting is amazing.

Heartwarming?! The 4 year old girl was murdered by her "mother". Just because the mother missed her real baby doesn’t give her the right to make a spirit out of another one…..
They literally killed a younger child...yeah they made it look like she was that moth... but she was dead... i really hope she went to her real mother in heaven and not to that dangerous woman who would be able to kill her own child.... will never watch this movie again.

Mama was not a monster she was their mama. She wanted those girls to stay with them the 'mama" Gave those girls a life. The mama wanted to raise her own child but died befor she could of. the ending made me cry.
If she loved them she would never ever want them to go with her and literally die... so we agree to disagree....
I thought this movie had its scares and jumps. But what got me the most was the emotion this movie had. Never in my life have I seen a horror movie that made me almost want to cry (because it was emotional, not because it was bad...which it wasn't.)
I usually watch horror movies while I'm high as a mothafucker :D when scary shit happens, you get so scared, your heart skips a beat, and then you fuckin' burst out in an incontrollable laughter :D luv horror movies :D

Guillermo is always so brilliant - the contrast of the black and dark against the everyday colour of life, the poignancy of the Mama recycling the pain, the doctor who got what he deserved at the end and the aunt too. Jessica always ever so talented and so believable and Nikola so pleasant to look at as well as talented. The sets were eerie, scary and the timing of the moments Mama would appear were on point. This director is so creative and the look of the Mama was just enough to creep you out but your heart wrenches with those eyes of hers. Magnificent movie and definite 10+++++. Enjoyed back then and revelled in it just now watching again. Thanks.

I remember watching this when I was 5, the one scene that was stuck in my head was when the little girl ate the other’s hair 😱
It’s from when their ancestors had to deal with a scarcity of food so eating all they can, and it’s an important digestive additive in some wild animals. Plus, it also happens that for some it’s a symbiotic relationship by doing that.

Personally I really loved the ending. It felt fitting for the overall story. I really don't need a happy ending because sometimes happy endings can ruin a movie (eg. The Conjuring). Guillermo del Toro doesn't seem to fond of happy endings in his movies, either, because sadder ones serve better narrative purposes for his stories (eg. Pan's Labyrinth, Don't be Afraid of the Dark).
Seen this the night it came out and by the time the movie was over, my whole body was shaking. Really really great movie.

For me it was the greatest horror movie for the year 2013.
When I've watch the 1st 30 minutes of the movie I kept covering my ears because this got some really creepy, and scary stuff. The acting was awesome, there is ain't cheesy lines on the script. And the ending really made me cry like a baby.
For a horror movie rate I'll give it

I loved this movie, great ending, kind of an happy ending in my opinion, not happy happy but still a happy ending, it ended with a compromise basically, they all got what they wanted kind of, mama got some, Lilly got some, Victoria got some, Lucas and Annabelle got some, so none of them got everything but none was left with nothing either.

This film has a few serious flaws -- mainly regarding the vibes around the adoptive parents, but everything else here is just wonderful. The girls are just fantasitc in it, and the concept is horror with a heart. The opening scenes are unforgettable.
