    Thanks for your videos of China’s amazing progress in hi tech operations such as this wind farm in Yunnan. In Canada where I live, no mega project can be undertaken because of the high cost of labor which is controlled by the Union. Even a mini one will take years. The local news media never ever print positive news of China’s advancement, so we’re grateful for your vlog.

The real fact for it is, China's mixed socialism and capitalism. Also The Chinese are not lazy and bullying. Most countries are yet struggling to deal with them to get the most benefits with this massive economy. Who ever has the equall knowledge and skills with China, can get success in geopolitics...!!!

    I'm moving to China in April.
    I'm both honored, excited, and a little nervous about moving to a country with the lowest % of foreigners on earth.
    As a Brit, it's so lovely to hear a British voice in China! And a West Midlands one at that!
    I'm leaving a warning continent under a perpetual economic slump. China is the future. China respects my qualifications and skills far more than my home country. Because they have the industry for it. But most of all, they have the ambition.
    PS: one of my jobs in China is related to wind turbines :)

    • @George123-bv7xq
      @George123-bv7xq Před 3 měsíci +9

      It depends on which part of China you are going to be stationed in. China is HUGE and very diverse in its ethnicities. If you are stationed in Shanghai or Beijing, you will find a larger percentage of foreigners there. Shanghai was one of the cities that had the largest number of foreigners there in the 19th through to the mid 20th century and was very mercantile. You are sure to find enclaves of Europeans scattered around the city. Beijing was a diplomatic city and once again, there are influences of European culture there but not as much as in Shanghai.
      In any case, have a look around and you will surely find what you seek. Don't, however, go in with any preconceived ideas from the rumor mills and gossip columns of the West but keep your mind and taste buds open. That way, you may find it even more enjoyable to experience the adventure of a lifetime in the mysteries of the Orient.

      I'll be in Deqing County (Zhejiang), basically the suburbs of Hangzhou! Although my company has foreigners (about 10, out of 6000+ XD), my area won't have many foreigners. Not that it matters to me.
      To be honest, one of my biggest thrills in life is going outside my comfort zone, and learning to adapt to new and unfamiliar places!
      Hangzhou is very metropolitan (so I've heard), with an international scene. It'll be nice to meet other expats and hear their life stories, and what bought them here. Because people who move to China generally have an interesting tale to tell!

      Our mainstream media in Australia likes to pretend that China is still under Mao Tse-tung and the Chinese economy is like North Korea's Stalinism. Consequently, they still talk about China being the Number 1 polluter of the world and concentrate on China's coal-fired power generators with hardly any mention - if any - of its wind farms, solar farms, pump hydro and nuclear power stations - nor that China leads the world (followed by India) in the re-greening of its deserts (NASA congratulated China in 2023 after its geological surveillance satellites saw how much greening has been steadily returned to China's deserts up north).
      The air in Chinese cities have all been cleaned of factory produced air-borne pollutants but our Australian mainstream media, following their buddies in the BBC, continue to use grey-sky and yellow-sky filters in their videos and harp on "how polluted the air is" as though China has not made one single step in cleaning the air up.
      How hypocritical when China has banned internal combustion engine vehicles but in Australia, the Government persists in taxing electric vehicles as luxury items and slow in setting up recharging stations, while allowing for the sale of imported inefficient combustion engine vehicles - and Australia is accusing China of not doing its part in cleaning up the environment!

    In China things are easier because once the national policy has been passed in People's Congress the central and local government will implement it.
    In US and UK everyone is given the freedom to objec. Any individual can dislike the national policy in favour of self interest like wind farm spoil the natural surrounding, subsidies not enough and why not try other alternatives. The government could take 3 to 5 times to get it done and in the mean time cost spirals out of control.
    In the 2023 published electricity tariff US electricity is 2.25 times, France is 2.635 times, Italy is 5.75 times, UK is 5.875 times and Germany is 6.5 times of China respectively.

    • @bobsmith3983

      If a problem pops up the tech team can remotely disconnect the generator from the grid, stop the turbine from spinning by feathering the blades and applying the brake. A maintenance team can then be alerted to the problem and with a log of the fault recorded by the instrumentation execute repair or maintenance on the turbine assembly to make it functional again.

    Wind energy, like solar, is only as good as the reliable energy source that backs it up. Human energy use is fairly constant, with some bumps. Wind energy is intermittent. Onshore wind has capacity factor of ~30%. Solar is worse Wind and Solar are feasible in China because it has high hydropower resources to back it up. It's a disaster in the UK where we don't and we need Gas turbines to sit idle, waiting to back up unreliable wind. Even in China, where they have hydro, hydro backup requires over-building hydro turbines so you turn many on and then turn many off sitting idle while wind has power instead of running a few nonstop. Additionally this means you run the hydro in a way to backup wind, not the best way to regulate water flow for the environment. I think that China will benefit from deploying wind power while they still have hydro capacity for backup and while they develop their nuclear industry, but the future is nuclear power, not wind.

      Wind energy sites are based on the areas with the most consistent winds. The selection of the site is critical for uptime and I'm sure the Chinese have chosen wisely unlike the Brits. Unfortunately for Britain it is a small island and there are limited sites where consistent winds are few and far in between.

    • @kavabean
      @kavabean Před 3 měsíci

      @@whatswhite110 Hydropower is not garbage power. If not backing up wind/solar it can be good quality baseload energy as long as you have reservoir with buffering capacity. Wind/Solar --> Hydrogen --> Electricity isn't great. Still has transmission issues, high costs, and inefficient conversion as all chemical processes like to be run at steady state. It's still good for China for energy sovereignty. In a war even expensive domestic energy is important energy. Nuclear is much better but renewables can be deployed faster. So that can be a factor in China's deployment of this bad energy.

    • @kavabean
      @kavabean Před 3 měsíci

      @@bobsmith3983 We have good sites for wind power. But onshore wind power typically has capacity factor 30% sometimes 35%. You can only make higher capacity factor if you build your windmills with extra capacity, bigger blades, bigger power electronics. Then you can get 50% capacity factor but with much more expensive windmills so expensive energy. Still have intermittency issues. Without hydro backup power it ends up being very expensive. But it does give China sovereign energy. And that's a win in this political climate.
