29 million kids under the age of 13 are playing Roblox, but is it safe?

- To say Roblox is a game isn’t entirely accurate. Roblox isn’t a singular video game, instead, it’s a toolset to make video games and a platform to play those games. So Roblox is more of an ecosystem with thousands upon thousands of unique game experiences that are designed by the community - the other players - inside Roblox. Roblox self-reported that 47% of their playerbase is 12 or younger. Half of the people who play aren’t even teenagers yet. Beyond this, during the COVID-19 pandemic, half of all kids in the US under the age of 16 were playing Roblox.
In this video, we talk about the possible dangers that are within Roblox, and how even though many players never have problems with these issues, it’s important to be aware that these risks exist.

Thank you for this. I have a 9 year old who is begging me to let him play. I know the answer now. The risks are not worth it.

Thanks for the info. VERY informative! It certainly has the look of entertainment appropriate for younger players but, boy, beware for sure.
One of the best ways to tell if someone is who they actually are is to voice call/or be friends with someone from like school or something.

My kids have played Roblox - but we monitor what they play as much as possible and have banned them from a particular game I felt was inappropriate. I think knowing your kids and definitely monitoring how and what they play is really important . If your kid is likely to not obey your directions- then you may want to think again about how or if you give them access. We also have a six/seven year old who is not allowed to play yet. There is a CZcamsr called Crainer that showcases a lot of Roblox games. These are mostly tame and I would be o.k with my kids playing - if you’d like a better idea of what is on Roblox, this could be a resource. (There are definitely inappropriate games on there - these are just some of the more PG games.)
I thought I knew my daughter, who was obedient. However, when my daughter was 18years old I discovered that she had been exposed to porn at the age of 8 years old through anonymous men contacting her school friends via something like Minecraft and Skype group chats. At the time, suspecting something wrong I'd stopped her access; however it was only when she became an adult that I discovered the truth and the detrimental impact that it had on her child development and journey through life. I thank Jesus for bringing healing and restoration into her and our family's life. I would caution parents and children, there is real danger out there that you may know nothing about. On top of taking practical care we need to pray daily for our children.
I am an eight year old girl and I used to play roblox a few days and weeks ago. So, make that 30 million under age kids playing roblox. I have a classmate who is 9 years old and she plays roblox, same with my other friend, she is 8 like me. And another classmate is 8 and he plays roblox too!

It's not entirely safe as we explained in our video. There are people every day that play without anything unsafe occurring but there is highly inappropriate content that kids can access even with parental controls turned on.

It might be not safe cuz in Brookhaven there is still lots of scary stuff ghost creepy backstorys scary glitches and hackers
Roblox is safe in moderation without using third party sites roblox is not that much harmful but moderation is important as always theyre is always Lightness and darkness which means the bad aspects of a game can come to light very easily and even have some sexual innuendos. but it really matters on roblox moderation and many aspects
