I isolated the snare out of Sad But True... on it's own, it sounds like a gunshot. Very powerful, but very high-end compressed. There was a lot going on with EQ/gates/mixing etc with the Black Album. I just wish the bottom end was more rounded out between songs.

I know it is so unoriginal, but if I could get that tone dialed in to an amp/combination of amps I would snap off the nobs and die happy 😋 I remember being 12 and waiting to hear AJFA for the first time when my cousin got it for Christmas of 88. We rushed down stairs and stuck it into my uncle's "boom-box." The second Blackened faded in I fell in love with that guitar sound (incidentally I also decided I wanted to be a guitarist instead of a drummer), and have been chasing it ever since.
I was exactly the same, I was about the same sort of age and ever since then I've been chasing this sound. It's sort of a bit of a life quest, thanks to this man my search is over although I just have to figure out how to do it for a live playback
Mercury, you need to do Fight Fire with Fire on Justice!

I've been watching your videos admiring your tone for a while and wondered how you got your tone. Turned out you use the EXACT same setup I do. Same DAW, same TS808 plugin, same amp VST, same IR loader with the same IRs. Tone really is in the fingers
@@StateOfMercury yeah, sounds awesome. Only difference is that I have a 3rd party equalizer called Ozone that has built in EQ matching, so instead of guess working the stock EQ, I can import the original guitar tracks from AJAF and it'll compare it with my tone and give me the perfect EQ profile.
If you want, I can use the EQ matching together with the settings in this video to create a perfect EQ profile so your tone will be exactly like the original album. That is, if you can make a video like this on how to get the Black Album tone hehe
But yeah, great stuff, just wish the latency was a little better so I could use it live

I’m super late but quick question, I downloaded both Bias FX 2 and Bias Amp 2 but for some reason only Bias FX 2 is loaded as a plug-in on REAPER and Bias Amp 2 doesn’t show up in the plugins, am I doing something wrong?
So like i can't have fun with the tone? Or do i just slap my own tone track in and mash it with tallica tones?

Can you play the guitar out of speakers with this sound "live", or does it only sound like this during playback of a recorded file?
it's plugins. you can play live with it if you are ready to rely on a PC for your live tone. but this particular tone, live, with all the bass and treble is gonna get hard to work with live, in my opinion. and as you can see in the video, the quad tracking is a big part of the "end result", hard to reproduce live if you are not 4 guitarists in your band, obviously.
