- repairing floor using a syringe ( veterinary ) and water-based glue ,diluted - 1 shot of water per 16 0z.
all wood floors need expansion gap to expand , check if
there is at least 1/4 inch between walls and floor - Jak na to + styl
Great video .....thank you for the tip about the syringe. I have a,glued down laminate flooring ....this is the perfect solution.
I'm so glad I found this video. Thanks for posting it...you are a legend!!!
I have been thinking about this method but every single 'expert' out there reckon the floorboard has to be removed! I guess they don't want use to do it this way.
Great simple tip and sounds like it's pretty cheap too! Thanks a lot.
I got one on e-bay -
veterinary syringe , it is old but it is made to last
all stainless steel and rubber washers
and once you are done - use cold water to clean
just suck water and eject like 15 times , and sometimes take it apart to clean it , or just loosen the piston
and dont forget to get more needles ,
drill 1/16 inch hole and it is best to vacuum the hole so it does not plug up the needle
I am repairing several laminate floors in a house right now. The first
thing to do with a floating floor is to relieve the pressure from the
perimeter by cutting it back to the correct gap. The problem is usually
someone laying the floor too tight to the walls. These floors are
designed to grow and shrink with the seasons and need the gap for this.
After it has a sufficient gap, make sure to dehydrate the room with a
fan and lots of cool dry air for a few days and put some heavy stuff on
your hump and let the dehumidification do most of the work. If after a
few days it is still there, I would relay the entire floor from the hump
back to the wall. NEVER nail or glue these kinds of floors, all you do
is move the problem elsewhere.
Freshwaterboy I have the ‘popping’ sound everywhere I walk on mine. The fitter didn’t leave expansion gap. Will taking off the skirtings fix this?
@@SlothyWoffy have you fixed this? same problem.
@@vlatkomafija yes the popping sounds are pretty much gone since making expansion but I have creaking in places
thanks for getting back to me where can i buy the glue and gun from will it be ok the walk on after as it is on a walk way where the bounce is
Can you still do this method if you have foam underlay
Hi...great video! Question - I have that red rosin between the hardwood and subfloor. Is the glue supposed to adhere the hardwood to the subfloor? If so, I can't see how the glue will penetrate through. Thx.
I have slot of water damaged boards throughout house. . my home is 2600 square feet and I applied a polyurethane coat over the floating laminate floor.. my home is 2600 square feet below this fake wood floor is real wood very pretty however 3 parts of the rooms are partial board.. What Is the best suggestion on repairing and how to fix a floating floor?
Or what would it take to replace with a new tile floor?
@House60910 I drill through all the layers , and I make sure the floor has room to expand
and I inject glue , or dritac under ,
it is not a cure for all situations , in many cases it helps to solve the problem
in some cases the floor needs to be removed .
under floating floor should be a foam , or cork and felt paper
Now I got to find out where I can find one of those syringes to add to the millions of tools to the tool Arsenal
Thank you so much
Question.
What about the moisture barrier underneath? Will the moisture barrier prevent the glue from going down to the sub floor.
I know this is a redundant question but I haven't seen a clear answer and my husband wanted me to ask again. He laid the laminate flooring over a waterproof underlay which is over an existing hardwood floor. He did not use spacers while installing the laminate and now were experiencing buckling. Were confused about whether the glue will be able to adhere to the hardwood floor because of the underlay? Will this technique work for use?
Does this work with the vinyl plank?
do you need to put weights on the floor until the glue dries
Where can I buy the syringe from?
yes .I use less now , this way it is cleaner and still does the trick
I’ll just have the one shot oh and plus the booster please dr. This is where the advice we have all had came from.
Hi could you tell me if this would work on laminated floor that is layed on concret if so where can i buy the glue from thanks
if the floor is lifting like that is because that floating floor has no room for expansion the side the only thing he is doing is solving the problem for a few moths that floor will buckle again .u cant glue down one plank and the rest is a floating floor.but good solution if you dont care what happens in a few months
uzywam zestawu Dri Tac,bardzo dobra rzecz ,jednak kosztuje $55 a wniektorych sklepach widzialem po $85,jaki inny klej moglbym uzywac do strzykawki?Dzieki i i pozdrawiam
usually when I do this I drill through the moisture barrierr , it is hard not to
I was taught to drill at the "T" of where three boards came together not in the middle of the board so as to minimize having to repair a noticeable hole. I was also taught to use 1:1 ratio epoxy to glue a wood floor back down to cement. Floors glued to cement will lift if the cement was not completely free of residue such as dry wall mud no matter how thin it is, moisture in the air (NO A/C) will cause the glue to lift the mud from the cement and pop the floor.Start with a clean floor..
Have you ever had any problems with natural solid hardwood (maple) flooring when using regular watered down carpenters' glue? I have heard that the seasonal expansion effects can cause a problem (like floor cupping, splitting, etc) unless the glue used is some sort of polymer / urethane product.
So how is this going to work if you have the padding/moisture/sound proofing layer under the floating floor?
Just do it anyway
first you need to provide space for the floor to expand .
second . a little movement of floating floor up and down is fine , after all it is not a glue down floor .
third - the glue is just filling an empty space - gap in beetween the floor and subfloor , so it is helping to fill the void and at the same time help to adheare to the subfloor , but if you drill hole , you will apply glue ( dilluted 50/50 ) to under the membrane and it will also go in between floor and membrane
2 holes is fine
You could use the yellow foamy stuff that expands too. Just attach an air needle which is normally used to air up 🏀 🏈 ⚽️etc, the straw which comes with the foamy stuff fits perfectly inside the air needle. Just tape around it for added security. Then drill the hole or holes, squirt the foam in and it fills in nicely!! Added point, drill between the boards rather in the middle of a board. It’s easier to hide than in the middle of a board. Then get matching caulk or nail filler to fill the hole. No one knows the wiser. Haha
I have a solid bamboo floor installed over concrete on the entire first floor of my home, approximately 1,000 square feet. I had it installed the first time and ended up with separations in 5 or 6 different places, mostly in the middle of two rooms. I paid another contractor to take up the entire floor and relay it and now a year later, I have separation places again in almost the same identical places. I used a 3 in 1 underlayment and the first time it was installed I had T moldings at almost every door way and still had separations in the center of the room. The t-moldings were incredibly annoying and wouldn't stay down so when we had reinstalled we left the pesky t-moldings out. This is bamboo uniclic floor - not T&G. Long story short - would your video on how to fix a floating floor Parts 1-3 work for my situation or will it cause other separations somewhere else. At this point I'm ready to throw a rug over it and call it a day. Please advise.

it all depends on the layout
and the bamboo over concrete ,- problems - I saw many ,
the bamboo ( grass - not wood material ) is also susceptible to moisture , so it is best to maintain the same moisture level , around 30 % through out the year ,
in heating season especially ,
I have seen bamboo come open in winter time , since they shrink or contract in width and it will brake off the locking , and pull right out especially in doorways where there is the most tension
I always stick with natural oak hardwood floor if possible , or LVT over floor muffler for the concrete in the basement
Just not a huge fan of bamboo in general
I am not thinking my solution would help
Floating floor does not float , if you glue it down
It appears both your first and second contractors did not have adequate skills or knowledge. Remove the baseboard trim to find where the flooring is binding and cut the required clearance. I also hired and fired an incompetent contractor. Now you know what questions to ask.

I have the same problem and trust me a rug won't even help. I hava a rug for decoration and the floor buckled and now it looks like my dog is hiding under my carpet. Funny yet Sad I spent so much money and now I am stuck with this problem
it might work for you , just remember that laminated floor needs room to move ( expansion ) is the floor is laied directly on concrete ???
there should be a foam , or cork , , in any case , you can try it at your own risk , but I would not put any weight after injection , just fill the hole with a toothpick
Could u use gorilla glue under floor
A lot of viewers think they are professionals who have ridiculous responses and most doesn't make any sense. All hardwood flooring on concrete is urethane based adhesive and it's glued to presumably clean concrete surfaces. Urethane base adhesive is impervious to water and moisture, therefore should not delaminate. It's all in the preparation folks. A dirty floor will cause the adhesive to unbind from the concrete. Additionally, the wood plank may be warped, twisted or bent, in time it will add pressure/stress to the area of the floor that are not leveled or poor adhesion which ultimately causes it to lift. A dirty floor or floor that are not leveled or properly prepped will delaminate from the concrete. So, take the time to repair, wash, mop the floor if needed and allowed it to dry completely before gluing if you're doing it yourself. If not get a contractor that KNOWS what they are doing. Do you best to select planks that are not bent or twisted. I installed hardwood floors to my house in three rooms 9 years ago and have yet lifted from the concrete. Floating floor on concrete should have moisture membrane to prolong the life of the wood flooring. Floating floor on wood should have sound barrier to help soften the walk and noise but not neccessary. Follow the manufacturer instructions and leave gaps around the wall to allowed wood expansion. Gluing method in this video is not the correct way but it would fix the problem that this owner has. ..temporarily until it manifests to a greater problem in the future.
You should never glue down any part of a floating wood floor. Sure it will look like it works for a while but you're just treating a symptom of the real problem.
+William Martin Do you have better solution ?
well then how do you fix it?
The floor is binding against the wall somewhere because it was installed with insufficient clearance for expansion. Remove the baseboard trim and find where it's binding against the wall. Cut to the required clearance and reinstall the baseboard. Simple.
you can not glue down floating floor with carpenters glue. all he does is to glue two planks together. not sure if it will hold without side pressure
I'm having difficulty finding a similar syringe. I looked on Ebay and Amazon. Any suggestions?
I am thinking a Tony Chachere’s marinade injection kit for $3.44 at Walmart might be what I use 😂
Does this work if I have a concrete foundation? If so, what glue would I need to use?
Dean
Sure, try it
ever figure it out? i have engineered wood floor glued on concrete, I'm wondering if the wood glue will bond to the glue used originally for the concrete and floor
Hi, did you try it out? Did it work? We have floating vinyl tiles on concrete that are popping due to uneven sub floors.. Wondering if this would work..
@@neilsison7109 if you have vinyl tiles wood glue will def not work. Go with a product called "fix-a-floor" they have an original formula and one made of polyurethane. You can go for their original product with your application
Geoff Li i see. Will check that out. Thanks
Where can you buy that syringe?
go to a tractor supply store and buy some needles and a syringe it does not have to be that one - or go the the vet in your area and ask them for the stuff they may not give it to you or sell it to you if you dont have large animals and use them just saying
wierd this guy looks and sounds like my installer..who said "you need to re-do the whole area" i am having a wierd flashback...this may work on my tiny corner buckling up?
Where can I buy that syringe ?
I am going to try my meat injector syringe - it's about 3/32" in diameter. Lots of choices on Amazon. If the needle's hole is not at the end, cut it diagonally above or at the hole. My flooring is engineered hardwood on concrete - I just hadn't leveled this one area well enough in the hallway and it's been driving me crazy.
no problems , usually this is working fine
but in some cases the floor must be removed
all depends what is the problem
and all wood floors need room to shrink and expand
my solution also works , dritac is ok too
try e-bay , or amazon , and this type here I put it in caulk gun , needs to have the metal wings
How do you replace boards that were glued together?
What about Brad nail
Where do you tie your horse while you're doing this type of repair?
I would use regular carpenters wood glue - that is what he appears to be using
Good repair but way too much glue. And yes,I am a master carpenter.
he's going to turn that floor in to a junky😂
That's a Real Hack Repair ~ Over 40 Years in The Business ~ Don't Do What This Guy Does
Really helpful response jackass
Needs to be polyurethane based glue or an epoxy resin. Water based glue doesn't have flexibility and will eventually fail.
Do Not do what this guy does on the video
W in T HECK IS THIS GUY DOING?....
I cant hear shit and my volume is at max...
Not one of this clowns tells you where to buy the syringe and tips
where do you get that syringe?
@@tyler530chico What exactly does that mean?
