We have a purchased a pair that we believed to be real - the only thing that matches your fake detector video is when we connect to my iPhone for the first time it says Not my AirPods? Everything else looks real - serial numbers on each pod - charge indicator filled in etc etc - these are a very close to original AirPods copy

My case has quite a few of the fake signs as well as packaging, but my actual AirPods only had one. They were labeled as refurbished when i bought them so could it be a fake case or just a really good fake in general?

Hey pal, thanks for the great video! Im feeling someone sold me fake airpods and would be glad if you could help. Mine look really similar, but the most important thing I found out is that when I look at the info in my iPhone it says the model is A2000, whether it would be common to see A1938 i suppose.
I dunno if the group of products would have a different model number. The serial “number” is all filled out with letters, so it makes me question, too. The other point is that the microphone is kinda bad using whatsapp, and also the sound definition is not what I would expect for Apple products. And, to finish, they seem a bit thickier than should be. Are these feelings maybe some clues about being really fake, or nah? Thanks again

Tried out the fakes. Everything is exactly what this video said; however, after awhile you’ll notice that the fake ones have a more hollow sound while the real ones have more detail, more base and more crisps. Ex) I can hear background singers better with real ones while they are washed or not heard in the fake ones unless you crank up the volume. Also, when battery is low, it’ll give a very high freq. ear-piercing sound instead of the usual low battery melody.

So what about when you hit the information button? What can you find there? The print quality on my pair seems sus but the information section seems super real. How would it generate a serial number if it weren't real?

the airpods you got were two different version please do a updated one with old/new airpod gen 2 there were two made and slight upgrades like the hole in the case with the LED

I have some clones which are really good. Seems only cable in case is different. Also while trying to reset them the amber light never comes out. Definitely “not your airpods” appears

To be honest, I myself have fake AirPods and they were EXTREMELY cheap but they still work amazingly so I suggest buying the fake ones since you will save a lot of money and you will get fantastic sound quality and other features. But of coarse fake AirPods are sold everywhere so it depends on which fake AirPods u r buying

Very helpful. I bought some apple AirPods. Through amazon. What I do notice differently and I did my research, some of the AirPods charging case have the teeny dot that lights up and some of the charging cases don’t. The ones I purchased don’t have the teeny dot in front of the case. Does that mean I purchased fake AirPods? Could someone tell me????????

Bought a pair off the marketplace and they looked so real and had a serial number on it and manual and everything..even registered as AirPods ..apple even let me make a appointment cause they wasn’t working and figured since they was new they would replace them..me and the apple worker was confused lol.sat there for 20 mins and finally figured out they was fake..the serial number was someone else’s number..just buy from store lol
Alex the problem with these videos is that most people don't have a genuine set to compare them to and the fakes are so close now that without a real one to compare it too it's just too hard to tell. Even with your video...
That’s a good point. Because my airpods are a gift, I am thinking of taking them to the authorised Apple store to check there. I also don’t like the dull quality of sound of these airpods, in comparison to my Apple earphones with cable.

I just got these fake ones from ebay knowing that they will be fake judging from the price but I have to say they work perfectly fine, perform and look just like the real ones no wierd lights on the buds or the case, they work wirelessly pair even with my Samsung instantly upon opening im happy with the fakes as they saved me hella money thanks Mr. China

I got a pair of airpods from ebay, the case is the same as the real ones you showed, the airpods look the same as the real ones you showed in the vid but i cant see two holes on the speakers and when i pair them to my phone is says “not your airpods” but when i go to “find my” app it shows that i can find the airpods there but when i looked closely on on of the sensors on the left airpod i can see that its painted so its not a real sensor so i got scammed by ebay :(
There’s things in these videos that are contradicting. For ex you said whenever you pair them if they’re fake they will say “not your AirPods” I bought mine from Best Buy (I’m assuming they’re legit) and they say that. But the other details that you described about the real ones like the two holes in the ear piece mine have those. Also the charging contacts in the case are the same as the real ones in your video. But I don’t have light in the front of my case. It’s on the inside. So do I have a different pair then the ones you’re reviewing ?

Two killer tips for identifying the fake ones when they’re sealed and you cant look in
1: the real ones are perfectly sealed and there is no bubbles or crease
2: ya know that the airpods box has 4 corners, 2 corners with the apple logo, 1 corner with the information and the most important the corner that said “apple AirPods wireless charging case” Now listen close. The original apple arpods has a line in the middle of the sealed box and the fakes also have this but the original only has this on 3 corners and the fakes have it on all 4. And the corner that has no line in the middle is the corner that said “apple airpods wireless charging case” So if this corner has a line in the middle then its fake. And you can easily see this and you can feel it with your fingers.
Note: the line in the middle is the plastic wrapping around the box.

I bought a fake pair of AirPods on Facebook marketplace last night. I wasn’t aware that they had clones so close to the real deal, so when I checked them I thought they were real. Only when they wouldn’t connect with my other iCloud devices, and not activate siri properly did I suspect that they were fake.
This video helped me confirm that the AirPods I purchased were indeed fakes. :(

It is kind of ironic that the fakes are actually so good that sometimes it is perfectly reasonable to buy them just because of the much lower price.

I got $70 "Brand" AirPods 2 from Wish and it's weird, they matched some of the descriptions you made yet some didn't.
-- The stickers on the bottom looked like the real thing.
-- The "textured" AirPods picture on the top of the case, however, looked very washed out.
-- The back printing looked like the real thing.
-- The manual looked like the real thing.
-- Mines had a "pull out tab" as well, like the real thing.
-- The lightning cable was packed kind of messy like your fake.
-- The small light in the front isn't "molded" with the plastic so there's a hole when I run my finger over it.
-- The microphone on the bottom of these looked like the real thing.
-- The hole on the back of them was in the "right" place like the real thing.
-- But I didn't see two holes when I shined a flashlight into the earpiece like the real thing.
-- The AirPods 2 had serial numbers printed on them.
They're getting better at replicating these, but they slip up because they don't seem to compare it to the original product when they finish it.
I'm at a loss as to whether or not these are fakes since I did pay $70 for them, but I am going to lean towards them being fake just from the weird inconsistencies. Thanks Redskull.

The serial number will be different from the ones on box and AirPods. Also, L and R pods will not have their own serial number
