Nick makes a good point about the permanent adolescence thing. Yeah it's annoying to have to talk to a guy who's 36 and has a triforce tattoo and plays pokemon every day but soon he'll be 50 and nothing about his life will have changed. It's scary to think about. Good thing that will never happen to me, a guy constantly listening to videos from 2016 of guys singing songs about sucking and fucking their parents
they already know that. both have girlfriends and are sober, well Nick at least claims to be. I think the inexistence of God is actually the underlying reason. Knowing that life has no meaning and so do not traditional values, while others look forward to checking all the boxes, getting old and ascending to heaven, we just want to enjoy the things we know.. forever, having fun with no responsibilities is the closest we can get to fulfillment, but that doesn't come without shame from not fitting into a society built upon hundreds of years. being a man-child is basically a privilege of millennials and onward generations, which still doesn't save us from the desperation of imminent death, but it can make it better.
@mathias2277 its a theory, for sure. But I think God has been dead in the general population for roughly 100 years, after WW1 humanity saw through religion perminantly. I think to keep things relevant social media and politics took the place of God, with large groups of otherwise sound minded people literally willing to die or destroy their lives for a figurehead who confirms their beliefs and biases.
