As disaster movies go, this was one of the better ones.
aye...it kept its speciall effects budget for what it needed and focused on what it could do with acting and story instead of how sparkly the explosions could be made.
That Camero ragtop in to the crevasses was a real shame
And they all lived happily ever after.
I watched it all the way to the Finish . I rarely watch movies anymore . Even I was able to see through some of the bogus science, but the acting and special effects more than made up for the plot holes. A really good Disaster Movie, with a low death count. Thumbs up

It is not rogue scintist, good scintist save humanity, but rogue scientists in the government aids it's distruction.
Well Fauci has gone rogue but he'd never put his life on the line to save humanity. I don't see this guy as going rogue bc if he's government contracted he owes his loyalty to the people who are citizens of the country he serves, not tyrannical or incompetent governmental Superiors. He have a huge problem in America. Dumbing down society, especially minorities (all minorities, including any race who's poor), feminizing men, destroying everything good about being a bio woman, governments gone tyrannical and indoctrinating our military. In 10-15 years we're going to be so stupid, people are going to follow the government without questions and those people will begin to enter government and further destroy us. I wouldn't be surprised if Islam takes over and hangs their flag above the White House, as they plan to, all bc they must in order for their "Savior" to return.

Shutting off the vehicle doesn't protect it from an EMP. If it has a chip or IC, it's fried.
He said the battery and starter needed to be replaced. He replaced the alternator. LOL
Being a back yard mechanic? And I saw the alternator called a starter?...I'd hire that guy to BS customers so I could make more money repairing cars.
I would also sell winter air for the tires. You'd be surprised by how many people think there is such an item.

I enjoy scifi fantasy and this one was enjoyable, you need to suspend disbelief and sit back with a bowl of popcorn and just enjoy.

seconds that....its more or lees why i find netflix and all those ''server access'' services useless....just mainstreash tash...and you never know when legal fuckery sudenly remove something from the list of 'avabile' movies..... thankfully having a book or a movie on a physical storage at home solves that!

I'm 60 and a 13yr veteran of the US Army, I AM BY NO MEANS A PRUDE. BUT I THROUGHLY ENJOY movies without the bad language. I was taught that you could tell a man's intelligence level by his language AND SO that advice from my dad has not failed me.
I GET GREAT JOY with my grandkids sitting on my lap while we watch movies.
MOST BAD LANGUAGE is totally unnecessary, just look at the LOTR series and the Star Wars movies. They are by far some of the greatest movies ever made and just look at what is missing.
The above is just my opinion. I know it doesn't count for much
in this vulger world we live in.

It only shows that you were brainwashed into believing some words are nice and some are not. You're from a country where you execute prisoners, have mass-shootings monthly and you're offended by a few words? They are words only, the context only comes from the current meaning created by society. Words change meanings, words mean different things in different countries/groups within society. Just because you think it's a "bad" word, doesn't mean other people do. You probably think words like "feminism" and "gay" are offensive too. Fantastic movie about an event that perhaps could happen -- Who knows ??? However this movie is worth watching more than once. Kept me sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time. Not bad for a relatively low budget movie !!!
The above "leaders" doing thus, and not the weather itself. Watch movie "Ice Twisters" and you will understand who is controlling people and the weather on our planet.

Not so far fetched at all when you know about the tropicus drift that happens to the sun .. we are actually seeing exactly this pole reversal thing going on right now.
Far Fetched? ..I suggest you research the plasma apocalypse resets that happens , roughly every 250 yrs..perhaps more or less .RESETS are Real as Hidden History

@@OsirisVas he's probably referring to the idea that an additional 10 degree tilt caused by a meteor impact could be exactly reversed by letting off nuclear weapons down the bottom of the Marianna Trench. Or maybe it was the jump starting of a truck using the EMP attack. Or possibly the part where everyone in a running vehicle or talking on their phone gets completely fried to death, and everyone in a non-running vehicle and with their phone off is completely safe.

Thanks... for an excellent movie. Fiction apart, it shows how fragile our existence is on this planet ! Thanks to the determination of "Dr. Mayfield" and the resolve of his family that imparted them the courage to ace a global catastrophe. Polar reversals are a reality but they occur exceedingly slowly. However, if a fast-track one is triggered by a comet's pass-by...the movie is the answer to what would happen. Again, we LIVE by accident !!! Great upload...thanks !!!
Well its 4/2022 and the poles are shifting, the planets not rotating at the same.
Definitely worth watching. I especially liked where 2 men were able to lift a hydrogen bomb in its crate into the truck. Also great was when they were able to take the battery and starter from a gasoline-powered car and up it in a diesel truck and it worked. Finally, a Russian diesel submarine went to the bottom of the Marianas Trench--far past its hull-crush depth. But hey! It's all in good fun!
One of the better disaster movies, which always begin with the "experts" ignoring a scientist. Sound familiar? Rather like real life.
Notice the Martial Law reference, it's part of the brainwashing that these disaster movies are made to do. So when they declare real Martial law, people will be docile.
Pretty much everything here is backwards. Magnetic reversals happen, but they're not correlated to extinctions. The magnetic field is not in line with the rotational axis. Makes for good drama, though.
Because its fiction, anything goes.

I actually went to Lindenville two years ago. I got some pictures taken of me doing specific character positions, such as the guy whose face and right hand were charred. I was even holding the fried cellphone.

I enjoyed this movie much more than reviews elsewhere would suggest I should. Critics seems to forget that movies are supposed to be entertainment and that should be the goal, and overanalyzing it deprives the critics of enjoyment.

Definitely some bogus science in this movie. That said, special effects were decent. Story and character development were good. Casting was good, and there were some excellent performances. Enjoyable movie.
Oh, and Hollywood always prefers to get the science right over things blowing up!!!
Just curious since I'm wondering now: Is there even a gram of truth to the idea that stopping your car in an EM field will prevent you and everything getting fried, or is that fully movie stuff just to make it more interesting?
@@MirceaKitsune Given its been a year since you asked, you most likely already know the answer (provided you researched it that is) but in case you haven't: no there isn't. This has actually been tested multiple times, and it doesn't matter, an EMP hitting your vehicle will fry not just the vehicle but also any unprotected electronics inside.
Keep in mind that an EMP is a wide area effect event, this means that unless you have something that can absorb it (like, say, a Faraday Cage) anything unprotected it pretty much useless. Now, you can get a car custom made with a Faraday Cage installed but you're talking about a hundred thousand dollars and a significant increase in the cars weight (not worth it for the average person) you'll pretty much only find world leaders and so called "celebrities" who can do this.
So if you want your electronics to be protected from an EMP, the only way to do so is to create a Faraday Cage and make sure they are in that cage *before* an EMP is set off. Otherwise forget it.
Also, if an EMP does go off, you do NOT want to be in an EV (Electric Vehicle) when it does. Tesla, as well as other companies, ran tests to see what would happen if an EMP were to go off against their vehicles and they tried to hide the freaking results (results got leaked, thank you whistleblowers) if people thought driving through salt water in their EV's was bad enough (Lithium Batteries and Salt Water do not mix, they tend to cause a fiery death or at least serious injury) now let's use an EMP which will dump millions of volts into the battery, your going to have an explosion. It's why EV's that have been struck by lightning have had their batteries burst into flames.

I've been looking for this movie again.
There were many problems with the movie, although I enjoyed it. What I wold like to know is how that aging Soviet diesel sub went from the West Coast of the United States all the way the Marianas Trench, and survived crushing after it went below 300 meters, much less 6000-7000 meters. Why do I watch? Because I love B-class sci-fi movies, of course!

I get an incredible kick out of all the B-Class SCIFY movies.
They are cheap, cheesy with all kinds of visual and storyline mistakes BUT THAT IS WHAT MAKES THEM SO FUN TO WATCH.

This movie is terrific. If we are not careful though, it could still happen for real. Texas got hit in February of 2021 by a polar vortex, which caused a lot of power outages throughout this state. It isn't the same as in this movie, the movie shows us that it can happen.
GOD forbid all of us but it may happen or any other other natural or result of human scientific errors. This movie reminds us that it is time to unite all nations to save our mother planet earth.
What is called a Polar Vortex these days, we called a "cold snap", when I was a kid!LOL About 50 years ago.

Good movie. The script is good, some deviations, the effects are reasonable. Some actors don't express themselves well and others perform well. In general, for a production that seems to have little investment, it is a fiction film that manages to hold the spectator.
This could be our near future if everyone keeps obeying marazmatic men in power. 👋
