    I used bright tone once....liked it but ran out and my funds ran a little low and delivery was gonna take a few days and I had orders to fill so I used Minwax Polycrylic and it worked perfectly at almost 1/2 the cost....so I now use Minwax polycrylic and if I run low I can just run to my local walmart or any of the 20 hardware stores and grab some.

    Gr8 video & tips regarding BT!!!
    I been using BT almost a year now and recently have been notified of 3 cups that I made for fam/ friends that the bottoms have started to crack or peel off. Now I did give care instructions for each tumbler and they "say" have followed the instructions. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that they have...they have stated the cups were for toddler of age 3-4yrs of age. Other than the possibility of the cups being placed on a wet surface, what else could cause the cracking or peeling after each cup cured for 12 days b4 shipping and was shown pics of each cup after they received them in condition as when shipped them?
    Apologies for the short novel lol. I wanted to be as clear as possible in explanation.
    Looking forward to more of your videos & tips!!! Til next tyme...keep those cre8ive juices abrewing!!!

    Hello there. I’ve been making tumblers using crystalac for 4 months now. I’m noticing in my squeeze bottle, my coats of BT get tiny little gummy wads of BT that hinder the smooth finish. I’m trying to decide how to explain it. Like little pieces that are drying or trying to dry. But I keep the squeeze bottle tip meticulously clean. So I finally decided to just replace what was in my bottle with more from my quart supply. What was in my tiny dispenser bottle had maybe been filled 2 weeks prior, so it wasn’t old but i cleaned out my squeeze dispenser and opened the quart of BT and it was FILLED with HUGE pieces of what looked like jelly. The lid was secure so it hadn’t been semi drying. So I got a paint filter and got every tiny piece out possible. All seemed well for a few coats after refilling the squeeze dispenser. However, I am now, again, beginning to see the tiny wads of jelly like pieces within my top coats again. What could be causing this repetitive problem? Have you experienced this?

    Is Brite tone more economical to use than resin? Or more expensive because of how many layers you need to use?

    • @PeriodSixDesigns
      @PeriodSixDesigns  Před 2 lety +1

      theyre actually about the same in price when you look at price per ounce versus how much you need per cup...with brite tone you pay in time

  • @itsawetrain
    @itsawetrain Před 2 lety +1

    now i'm wondering if you could use minwax polycrylic on a cup like brite tone...i know some people use it as a sealer for glitter, but i wonder if you could use it for the whole project. and since it is only on the outside of the cup, I *personally* wouldn't be worried about "FdA aPpRoVE"

    • @itsawetrain
      @itsawetrain Před 2 lety

      I actually looked it up and you can use minwax polyacrylic! you would just have to wait 28 days for it to cure completely for it to be food safe!

    • @amberlindsey7112
      @amberlindsey7112 Před 10 měsíci

      They are also food safe once they have fully cured. So there isn't a problem using it. I did a lot of research trying to find a difference between the crystal act brand and just a polycrylic and can't really find a difference lol.
