  • DA Federal council chairperson Helen Zille says the ANC cannot dictate terms as this has to be a power sharing arrangement in Gauteng. She was addressing the media on the outcomes of negotiations between the DA and the ANC on forming a government of provincial unity. She says despite progress in negotiations the DA and the ANC in Gauteng have not yet reached an agreement on forming a government. Zille says out of the ten provincial cabinet posts in Gauteng, the ANC wants to give the DA three executive council posts.

ANC was never ready for this. It hasn't hit home that ANC has lost in the mindset of its provincial leaders. ANC knows, once DA has it's leg in the door, Gauteng politics will never be the same again. It's a soft coup, I love it. DA should remain firm..

I see many negative impacts,,appalling education standards , collapse of services like electricity ,water ,sewerage, road repairs and refuse removal . Not to mention the collapse of the majority of the SOE's . All of this as well as rampant crime and corruption have led to mass unemployment and inequality. There is a superior logic at play. It was the DA who coined ‘Doomsday coalition’…and said it is prepared to do anything to avert that coalition. So the DA is prepared to be used in any way for as long as it holds back the doomsday coalition. If I am ANC strategist the position with regards DA is that it gets nothing, no cabinet position for DA, no ministerial position for DA, no deputies for DA…nothing. The ANC must take back all it gave the DA.
