My son is coming out of prison this February. He became mentally ill the 5th year after being imprisoned. He is psychotic, listens to voices, has Hep C, etc, etc. and he is totally different from the one who went to prison when he was 18. He started level 2 and after being mentally ill they changed his level to level 4. Now they want to deport him to a country where he has no family there and where he will be killed immediately because of the mental state he is at this time. This prison system is such a mess. The worst thing is that I don't know anything about what to do to help him.

Looking at this video is not only powerful. But is also sad. Hearing how much he had to do too change his mind. But also his Life so he can move forward from his fears and the mindset that was created in prison. We Will never know whom do we stand next to that will speak freely and normal. We will never know because Society will not accept such a person that can one day harm thy. So the best thing for this issue is to keep it confidential meaning private.
Or is it like the sex offenders they have to let Society know by law where they live.

We need to fix our healthcare system and really improve the mental health care system, as well as our jails and prisons. It is so hypocritcal for the authorities to think nothing of causing futher damage to people who they are in charge of. Especially if these are people with mental health issues but even if they aren't. No one should be allowed to do damage to another. Prisoners should be sorted into groups of like crimes. They should also be using the time to improve themselves they should be educational programs and health and mentoring on making thier lives better not making them worse with stagnating torture. Help them learn life skills in coping and living life.

Obama and this guy could do a lot for the people with mental health issues in prisons. Would seem to be a great partnership if that is indeed still a Democratic issue of interest (prison reform). IDK if the Democratic party has any focus or interest in the mental health arena or if that's an issue of interest for them. I don't follow politics but this area (mental health) NEEDS much work/empathy/focus it seems

It would also be amazing if the Church got more involved in this area. Like priests playing an active and present role if the patient so wishes (having that option). We didn't have that option at the mental health hospital I attended
