Absolutely. First time I saw him fronting Montrose in 1973, I could tell this guy has got "it".
He actually took a cut in pay when he joined Van Halen because their contract was so bad and Hagar had great management.
My friends would actually get into arguments on who put on the better live show, Van Halen or Sammy Hagar (Before Sammy joined Van Halen of course)

I remember Sammy talking about him getting 115 million for the sale of his tequila and he was like "I'll never be able to spend all this money and I never dreamed I would have this much money!" He stays grounded which is good. You got some people though that need all the money they can get!!! I dont understand it. Give me a couple million dollars and I am set for the rest of mine and my families life!!!! If I had millions upon millions I would give to childrens hpspitals and open up animal shelters in every State to protect abused and unwanted animals!!! To much is given much is expected!!! Dont know if that is exactly how that is worded but its the truth. Some rich people forgot that!!!!

Met Sammy at a record store I was working at in 1978 in Fort Worth, TX. He was in town for a show opening for that crappy ass band Boston and stopped by the mall with Gary Pihl to pick up some 8 Track tapes (Ha). I recognized him immediately as I was huge fan of his beginning with Montrose but one of the young girls working there whispered to Pihl "Is that Sammy Hagar?" to which he looked over at him and replied "Hmm, I don't know..." and everybody including Sammy laughed their asses off. He is truly a straight up good dude and in person exactly what you see him like on TV shows, interviews, etc. A ton of fun!

Sammy really brings the fun to the music of Van Halen...DLR used to be able to convey the message of this band but at this point Sammy is the man! I can't think of anything more rock n' roll than going to see Sammy at the Cabo Cantina. Just pure fun, sitting in the sun with beautiful girls drinking and smoking which is what Van Halen is to me! Thanks to Sammy the spirit lives on!

I ran into Sammy in Marin, Ca. coming out of a Organic food store back in the early 90's I asked him for his autograph and he was nothing but nice to me. To this day I still have that paper he signed for me.
