@@kimseniorb not really, they publicly said they're not fixing it. Also, been on 2 of their shows and going to third soon, they ARE that good and even got better these days tbh. What you hear on album is what you get on the show
Mixing this and preventing it becoming a muddy mess must have been truly a hellish job.
DPRA The hard part is engineering, mic choice, mic placement, gainstaging, live acoustics. Mixing well recorded materials is always easier than fixing terrible ones.

I got to meet Ihsahn and talk to him for a couple of hours.. he is kind of a distant friend of mine. The man is a master musician, it's the only thing I can say with absolute certainty about him.
Any decent vocalist can produce such a nasty snarl when the vocals are severely processed as in this production tons of effects here

Ihsahn is such a monster, he can even stand out with this group of absolute god tier, virtuoso musicians. This is awesome. Admittedly, I have kind of slept on this band....I think I really need to rectify that, like NOW.

@Crackbreaker Well, metal heaviness itself its pretty complex and ambiguous term. There are at least few types of heaviness, anyway try Humanity Last Breath for example :)
Definitely one of most intense moments in PROG metal
This has to be the most horrifying and awesome Song I have ever listened to. Sure Infant Annihilator may be faster, have more vocal technique... but they don´t have these feels. The way Leprous uses these bonechilling screams, the heavy rythms, the distorted violin at the end... It creates a desperation, a rush of adrenaline, like you were fleeing from a murderous beast, the horror just keeps growing until the world dies in fire and the sound fades into silence. This song is one of my alltime favorites, I bought the vinyl mostly because of this song.

IA is about how stupid faster, heavy and disburbing you can go if you have the proper technique and creativity, they don't want to sent tell us something, just making music for fun and i love them.
Leprous is trying to tell us something with this song, they can be faster or down tune even more but that's not how they want to tell us something.
Swallow the Sun did a song after Aleah died called Lumina Aurea (I think) that to this day is the most harrowing thing I've ever heard. This is a close second.
I saw Leprous in Syracuse NY in May of 2022. A small club with about 100 150 people. I've seen ALOT of live performances 90% being heavy and extreme metal bands. I would be very hard pressed to find a band that was better than Leprous live. Only one I can think of is that even comes close is Through Silver in Blood era Neurosis. Leprous was incredible and produced some of the heaviest sounds I've ever heard live. The end of the Red was crushing!

I'm really sorry for all of you viewers who are commenting your feelings about the music and then getting put down by a lifeless individual. You all have rights to enjoy what ever music you want. It is amazing how supportive the people in the metal community are for each other. Especially compared to other genres of music. But of course there is always people who have to spread their negativity unfortunately. This band's music is full of an array of emotions and it takes a certain level of maturity and open mindedness to understand it. Some people don't get that. Shame.

He has an incredibly gross-sounding harsh vocal style. It's grown on me as far as the Leprous cameos go, but I have no interest in hearing anything where he is the only vocalist. It's just not my style. It kinda bugs me that Einar's harsh vocals seem to be heavily influenced by Ihsan, because personally, I think Einar does it much worse (especially live). You wouldn't hear me complaining if every Leprous album going forwards has as many harsh vocals as Malina did (like, one part, faintly, and layered behind clean vocals).
