The older I grow, the more I am convinced that if "rock is dead" it's because people keep on complaining+sticking to the past (read: Queen in 2019...) instead of paying attention AND money (I mean: concerts if anything else...) to great musicians to bring them to the next level.
Rock needs only one thing to stay alive: people to support artists! Don't you hear them? Rock is fucking alive, folks. Thank you for being here.
Perhaps rock is dead, but metal.. nothing can kill metal ;)
hell yeah!
Any music that dies deserves to die. Rock wont die, so long as bands/people keep innovating.
well said!
i totally agree!
Can we just take a moment to appriciate how insanely in sync both drummers are?
@@Digity. you can clearly hear both
so, basically, the term "quantum teleportation" was first applied to those drummers
You should check out the band the other drummer (Tobias Ørnes Andersen) plays in now, Aiming for Enrike, just him and a crazy good guitarist
They are listening to a click track.
Yeah, it’s called a metronome, guy.
When the live version is miles better than the studio version!
1000% agree. I tried listening to the studio versions and just find them lifeless and flat, before seing them live I just couldnt get into them.
When I saw them at Techfest they were one of the best bands of the weekend. When I got home I listened to the live versions and just realised how much better they were than the studio recordings.
This entire show is
there solid live..like watching pure magick in your eyes!
It's insane, it's perfect! Perhaps the growl part is better on the album, but this has more energy. This is just so damn fu€€in good.
Any decent band will give a better live performance of a song than the studio version, it's all about the energy they put in on stage.
Who wants to see Drumeo make a drummer try to play this song withiut ever having heard it?!
MMMMMMMM de la manera en que se cruzan los tiempos no creo que ninguno acierte
make them play the sky is red....
Wait are we just going to ignore how masterfully this was mixed?
No we're not!
Live performances are not mixed down, just balanced at the board.
@@stevemartin7937 Steve Martin is wrong, this was mixed by David Castillo.
That´s impossible... A Masterpiece by everybody involved!!!!
@@stevemartin7937 live mixing? Anyway, many times post mixing is done for these recordings if all instruments are recorded individually, I guess? I don't know much but I think this makes sense xD
There are many things that lie within my comprehension. This band is not one of them. The beauty breaks my consciousness into a million pieces. Why are they not more popular?
God that singers voice is so HAUNTING!
Reminds me a bit of Devin Townsend
@@pipegris Better than his!!!
@@flavy1000 matter of taste I would say
@@flavy1000 that's a pretty big statement...
@@flavy1000 Devin's is more operatic/bombastic. This guy's got much more raw feel to it. They both are great at what they do :)
Best live Prog metal performance i have found. The Riff, the vocals, and Baard being inhuman.
You should listen to Opeth, or Tool live.
@@Dwendele Porcupine Tree with those, even though it's prog rock. Oh well so is Opeth after Watershed.
@@Dwendele I listened to The track "The Wilde Flowers" from Opeth back in 2018 i think, its a good track and the vocalist has a great vocal range, but Slave has been my go to track for 5 years now. I have experienced it Live at Royal Albert Hall as a warm up for Devin Townsend, and on Sentrum Scene in Oslo.
Leprous Live is a great experience. Maybe i should go to an Opeth concet aswell.
@@DwendeleYou should listen to Between the buried and me Live ;-). I just heard Leprous play this live last Thursday in Groningen the Netherlands. They still rock and this number still sounds awesome. Opeth an Tool are also so amazing, but let's also give the newer prog metal artist the credits they deserve.
The ocean was really good too
Wow. Just wow…
Sound guy deserves as much credit as the band holy shit. Prob the best sounding stage recording of any band of any genre I’ve ever heard
this song is freaking epic
Check out Gojira live stage recordings. Especially Hellfest 2019, sublime mixing.
I cannot in all honesty call myself a fan of Leprous but this may be the most stunning performance ive witnessed in this millenium. This had it all, the big fat sound, the passion, the production and oh fuuuuck the vocals just burned me from within. Here i sit completely exhausted without lifting a finger, i couldnt have if i wanted to . Mesmerized, stunned and aching for more.
Have you become a fan of theirs now ?
@@futurebreedmachine9302 Well.. Yes, I think it's fair to call myself that now.
They make some questionable music imo, but they have some insanely talented musicians in their band... Baard Kolstad is one of the most technical/best drummers I can think of... I am not a huge fan of some of their music (although the other half is brilliant) but I would pay good money to see them live if the opportunity ever arose.
What the hell was that? It's like a religious experience, the singer is incredible, surprising that he has much more power during his clean singing, the harsh one being a little thin, from my perspective. The intensity of the entire band is pure joy to witness, main drummer is insanely good.
Only If they could bring Ihsahn for the growl part. Still awesome Performance
"It's like a religious experience"...That is exactly what my brother-in-law said about this when he saw them play Boston a few weeks ago. A beast on the drums!
You can find a Reddit AMA they did some years ago where Einar said his screams aren't really that high in volume. For studio stuff they probably have to mix them higher
He doesn't do much screams in albums (if any).
I was just thinking that. This transcends a normal musical experience...there's something deeper
3:24 I started banging my head so hard that my glasses just literally flew away. Just frickin WOW !!! I think i have new favorite band
I've been listening to this for 4 hours straight on repeat, still can't stop.
You can't stop me
This drummer is a killer one
which one? :P
Baard Kolstad?
juan cardona Baard is one of the best drummers I've ever seen.
Check out the other bands he is a part of:
Borknagar
Gaahl's Wyrd
Rendezvous Point
I could literally just listen to the drum recordings of the Congregation and nothing else and still love the album
Despite listening to them over the last few years, I still love how small details like Einar's voice crumbling down in emotions in "Cloud Of Dust" and other gritty touches in (@2:17 ) ; such a performance. The instruments create such a space for Einar's vocals and space around his voice so well. Kudos to all the artists.
just realized, that Einar did the screaming vocals on "The Architect" from Haken. Now my prog music circle is closed^^
Really?! 😍
Or r u joking?
Yea ikr. Feels like everything is connected.
"And now his watch is ended"
his voice is absolutely out of this world. beautiful
The guy is a musical genious. He achieved in uniting in one all the influences from the 90's starting from black metal like his friends emperor intelligent riffs and compositions combined with prog , feeling and high voice , introducing a new style that will give a new musical reference in the future!
Who is "this guy" ? Einar ? Tor ? Baard ? The band ?
Being that the sentence included "high voice" it's pretty clear that he is referring to Einar don't you think?
@Toxic Potato You'll get no disagreement from me.
@Toxic Potato Einar and Tor are the founding members and main songwriters. While yes, it's ridiculous to chock up a whole band's talent to one person, there is absolutely reason to compliment and attribute the band's songwriting to Einar. He's not just there to "look pretty and sing well", that's equally disrespectful and assumes he's akin to the majority of other metal/prog vocalists.
Again, it's not like he's the sole songwriter, but a large amount of the riffs, motifs, and storytelling that makes Leprous Leprous is Einar's doing.
@Toxic Potato But really Einar is a musical genius... so, What's the problem?
Not only as a vocalist (he is one of the best rock singers nowadays and that's a great merit) he is keyboard and songwriter too.
The production here is nothing short of insane. Most live productions of this kind, despite how great the performance, sound stripped of what makes the live experience so great. This, though...this is something else entirely. Not only does it almost feel like I'm there (thanks to some really masterful mixing), but all the musical elements have come together in a way that I've seldom, if ever, heard before on a live recording. To say that I'm eager to listen to the rest is an understatement.
Agree'd, very rare live mixes sound great, especially when you have a BIG sound like this- Hats off to their sound engineer and the man at the venue behind the tables.
Notice how bad de-esser gave him a weird lisp though
What's crazy is this blows the album version out of the water. I'm not a fan of the album mix at all. But this sounded sublime.
Yeah it's astounding. Perfect in all ways
WELL FRIGGEN SAID M8!
This is seriously the best shit I've ever heard. I haven't met one other American like myself who know this group. This is next level shit
American here. Seeing them tonight in Dallas. Was going for Haken, then started listening to these folks and discovered something awesome.
To quote my brother-in-law, "fucking animal on the drums"!
American 🤙
Kyle Robins I listen to this almost everyday
Nathan Stone as someone in Dallas just finding this band and Haken (the last 2 months-ish) i am full of regret not seeing these two together
and then music evolved again
My love belongs to this drum symmetry.
who's the second drummer ?
@@poiles1 Tobias Andersen, the band's drummer from their first three albums.
When I saw them live they had the cellist plugged into a harmonizer pedal to make it sound like a quartet was on stage with them. Soooo badass.
This is something special. The dissonance and tension is so intense and the resolve is like the sweetest honey on the planet. My new favorite band now. No wonder they're one of Periphery's inspiration.
That was without question, one of the most incredible live performances I've ever seen.
This is one of the best damn live recordings I've ever heard! Such an amazing band!
Imagine a band so FUCKING metal, you need not one, but TWO drummers. That's LEPROUS.
I just got to witness the amazing work they do LIVE and it's even more powerful than you can imagine 😭❤
I feel so fortunate to have experienced them live.
already had goosebumps in the final chorus then Einar hits 6:16 and my goosebumps got goosebumps
When you're the main drummer in a big band but mom tells you to take your little brother with you
I heard this song for the first time yesterday. I have now watched this video at least 10 times. It's incredible. I have yet to find the words to describe how captivating this performance and the song is.
I hope you will find the right words...Because after years of trying I still can't. Can I give you advise: don't waste your time trying, this song (and performance) is from other dimension, where words not exist...
Same here probably 25x in the first week
You should watch the vocal coach reacts videos 😜
im on roughly 10 times in two days, and wholeheartedly agree with your statement.
4:14 JAR JAR BIIINKS!!
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
thanks for pointing that out :D:D:D:D
lmao i hate you
4:29 SANS OVERTAKING ME
Bruh 😂😂😂😂
There are millions of music videos on CZcams. I myself have seen thousands.
This one is the best I've seen. Ever.
Absolutely stunning.
@vasudevananda lol, mediocre
I'm screaming like a 14 years old fangirl.
OMG.
I'm 30, but we are all in this together, buddy
This type of "Broadway/Drama Metal" as i call it, SO deserves to be heard by a crowd of 100,000.
Oh my fucking god.....this seems even better live, they really seem to enjoy what they're doing... can't wait 2017 to see them in Bordeaux, France
I can assure you it is, I had the time of my life seeing them live.
Ce sera la 3eme que je les verrai à Bordeaux après le Hellfest 2013 et Le Ferrailleur l'année derniere. Ya pas mieux qu'eux live :)
+Anthony Verdier 100% d'accord! En janvier 4eme fois, je suis impatient
Devin Townsend + Leprous + BTBAM = Orgasme auditif
They're about to go into the studio to start working on their next album. FUCK YEAH!!!
I used to have problems to cry, even when feelings were devouring me inside, even when I was in a considerably bad place of my head
But today I've listened to this song first. And now everytime I listen it again it tears me apart.
I believe I'm healed.
This is one of the reasons why I love music.
In my room
Where I lay
Demons tend to rise
Make your move
End it all
Cloud of dust
Caught in storm
You lie there silent
Justified
In the dark
With no worthy eyes
Shed a light
On your slave
Reveal them now
Reveal them to us all
Scent of fear
Reaching far
Cold-blooded tease
Shades
Overtaking me
Craving for release
Let us know
Where demons are
Einar and Baard are on top of the metal league now
Tor and Oystein are very underrated, intelligent/insanely talented and dynamic guitar players
Omair Sheikh I don't know if I'd say underrated exactly, but they definitely don't get anywhere close to the attention they deserve. Which is almost metaphorical for the band as a whole. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
"they definitely don't get anywhere close to the attention they deserve."
I believe that's the definition of underrated :)
Omair Sheikh haha touché. I meant that no one who plays the guitar and knows who these guys are could possibly underrate them. I think "undervalued" is more apt a word. But I also feel that the band as a whole is horribly undervalued. I sometimes refer to them as "the greatest band you've never heard of" to my friends.
i agree with you.
That transition around the third minute was absolutely insane!
Einar's screams around 4:23 sound like a winter wind that bites to the bone, I am eternally astounded
Ihsahne.
@@deciocupramin7106 Einar
This video popped up on my screen at about 10 past 2 in the morning and I must say, I'm glad I found this band.
I've listened to this about 5000 times since CZcams first recommended it about 10 months ago.
Are you me?
One of the most unique and talented bands on the market today. And their live shows are unrivaled.
4:15 this was so black metal.. I need more. Please.
The outro of Rewind from the same album is black metal inspired too. Also check out Pleistocene by The Ocean
Well this is yet another band I just stumbled into on CZcams, and now I have to buy the entire discography after hearing just one song! Thanks CZcams, you suck!
It takes a phenomenal band to make their music sound better live than in studio. But damn Leprous does it effortlessly
Baard is undoubtedly one of the best drummer in the scene.
Kinda, maybe, THE best.
I posted a comment two years ago, and it still holds true. I often find myself returning to listen how incredible this song is.
We're on the same boat still hooked on this video/song since the first time I heard it years back
I became a Leprous after watching this live performance many years ago. What a masterpiece 🖤
Can not believe my eyes! They are so good! Loves from Turkey...
Usually i pick a band base on the guitar riffs but that Voice is crazy
Dude this drummer almost rivals Mario Duplantier. This band is one of the best things ive ever heard.
bostion they’re both great but I think this guy puts a lot more effort into writing his songs
Very different style to compare
@@polymorphing9195 Mario is almost an athlete before he's a drummer. Like the other guy said though, so diffirent in style why compare.
i totaly agree. Baard Kolstad, Mario Duplantier, Blake Richardson(BtbaM) and Raymond Hearne(Haken) are my top drummers
Don't forget the second drummer guys!!!! He does an awesome job!! I agree Baard is a fenomenal drummer , also Mario is!! Keep up the good work everyone!!
What a remarkable piece of music. The first full song I've heard from Leprous, it nearly had me on the verge of tears. The atmosphere, the voice, the power.... it's all there. Brilliant. Can't wait to dive in and find more.
I'm late to the party. I just recently found this band. Looks like I got some catching up to do. These guys rock.
Michael same here! Check out the song Rewind, what an ending! This song just floored me!
@@MaXaNoMaLoUs Mary Z brought me here.
No regrets.
Fukc . . . This is by far one of the best and most mesmerizing stuff I've heard in years! ❤❤❤
How the hell am I just now getting to know this guys!! Holy shit!! No band has make me feel this way since I listened to pain of salvation for the first time!! Bravooo!!👏👏👏👏
i feel the same first time i see this on youtube.
Im going to sleep at night with this song in my head.. i tried nursery rymes.. but it didnt work 😴.. all i could hear was this song 😊
I'm so happy to participate to the crowdfunding. It will be great
The mastering is better than on your latest album haha sounds HUGE
Why have I only just discovered this band!?
Amazing band , my first time listening, it epic, like the first time I heard TOOL! Wow
You should listen to the songs: Phantom pain - White - Passing (Leprous)
They are great, best progressive band .
Lucmir Guaregua they are good. I really like Disperse. Jakub Zytecki is amazeballs. I'm watching these guys now too though. :D
Music just changed for ever, from my perspective. Thank you.
This is the only band that legit gives me shivers when I see them or hear their music. Just...so...powerful...
maannn they put one hell of a good show, amazing band, great song
That dude has pipes
Man, this Leprous era was something else. I keep returning here year after year and I still have no words!
This is nothing but 100% talent
Saw them supporting Devin Townsend in Bristol, just fantastic ! Love the album.
Oh fuck
Im seeing Einar live in less than 24 hours for the very first time
My soul can’t take the darkness
that voice is insane for live
Seen them live 3 times now. Best band I've seen live, would love to see them sell out stadiums one day they are that good.
Someday we'll open for a band like Leprous, what a live rendition!
So much Emotional 💔
...This keyboard sound with the super-low guitar tone at the very beginning reminds me of soundtracks at the beginning of original Final Fantasy VII game !
More seriously, I strongly recommend to anyone remotely interested in live metal shows to see those guys on stage, never seen such an energy, almost never felt such a thrill as when hearing their live performance of Forced Entry... And I've been to dozens of concerts over the last 20 years.
5:08 gives me chills every time
This song makes me cry. It´s just so perfect and beautiful!
Where has this band been all my life?!? Was watching a Neal Morse video and this was recommended. So great!
What a band and they are so well attuned to each other and the drums are so in sync. Wonderful to listen to and watch...
3:52 THE REAL MOTHERFUCKING HEADBANGING
Ive literally just watched this 5 times in a row.
Apart from musical achievements, will anyone agree with me that Einar is the most elegant vocalist in the metal world?
Maybe the best vocal entertainer of our times !!!
The like to dislike ratio is quite unbelievable, seems pretty much everyone agrees that they're fucking awesome
This is funny to me. When I first heard of Leprous I saw them live with BtBaM and hated them. Everyone seems to like them though. I don't hate them anymore but I still don't understand why everyone loves them so much...
The words amazingly wonderfully perfect are too miserable to describe what I've just seen.
Leprous is not only a great band in studio, also it's the best band live(+ Agent Fresco haha). So badly want to see Leprous live!
You won't regret it... Best
It's been a while since I found a band that makes me stop what I'm doing and just be in awe.... My gosh!
me (47)and my son (26) were discussing new prog bands..he told me to look this up...I love it!!!
yesss, I discovered them just recently as well, so happy I did
Found this because an employee at the corner store I went to saw me wearing a HIM hoodie...thank you random Stewart's employee whose name I don't know🤗❤
Is...is this a thing? I was a huge HIM fan (still is tbh) and I love this music.
@@LortOfTheStones yes I have been a HIM fan for a long time though myself.
3:20 this man plays lead drums
I don't get why the they brought the other guy
Aris Gouvas Old drummer of the band, came back with the guest vocalist Ihsan for this show I believe
It seems like Norway is a nest of talented people, and they contributes so much in making this world interesting. :)
You know the song is fantastic when while listening you can feel all the veins in your neck and every hair on your arm is standing upright.
Uma das melhores bandas progg atuais... Pena não conhecer muitos que curtem por aqui no BR

Dois! =D
Mais uma aqui :)
ué
fode sim leproso!
I didn’t just listen to this. I experienced it.
Those double drummers fucking rule.
this entire song was just something to behold, it was truly a musical experience from the incredible drumming, to the guitar and bass and holy hell the Singer/Keyboardist god damn does he command an audience!!!!!
I'm so glad I read about them in one music magazine back in 2013 when Coal came out. I remembered them a few days ago and here I am, watching and listening this. This piece is just brilliant. Gonna search for more. Thank you for making quality music. You are a pearl in an ocean of rubbish.
