- I am very excited to share my impressions of the book by Cheryl Bruno, Joe Steve Swick III, Nocholas Literski "Method Infinite, Freemasonry and the Mormon Restoration." I am duly impressed, and to keep it on the level, I am THRILLED to have it and share it with you.
BYP you expand my universe. I greet the sun every morning and it's the most religious experience one could ever have. To be on a hill and see the sky 360 degrees with all the colors that a master painter could use. To hear the birds and wild creatures stirring to life, it overwhelms me sometimes. It costs nothing and I don't have to pay tithing to see it. It's where I experience the great spirit if life.
that sounds excellent! I am grateful to be a small part.
Method Infinite is quite likely the most important book on Mormonism this year.
I concur
@@TheBackyardProfessor Kerry, are Joe Swick and Nick Literski still believing Mormons? I seem to remember that they weren't typical orthodox Mormons 20 years ago on ARM.
@@randyjordan5521 No, they have graduated as well...
Excellent episode (as usual.) Can't wait to read the book. Yeah baby!
Yer gonna love it!
Thanks Professor for your honest review on this subject on the connection between Free Masonry and Joseph Smith. Your presentation style requires an acquired taste which I’m now starting to really enjoy. It takes a little while for you to get to the meat but worth the wait!
Well thank you. I am honestly not trying to make it hard to listen to what I say.
Thank you BYP your enthusiasm is infectious. Your UK NeverMo friend is really looking forward to the Book of Abraham & the Masonic angle YEAH BABY ! 😊
Love seeing your enthusiasm for the book!
Well I LOVE the books you are publishing!!! GREAT to see you and know you watched this. I will have many more promoting it since I am more than sure I will be disagreeing with a few reviews which are going to come out on it. You have become THE SOURCE to go to for wonderful quality books, and we all appreciate your work!
1:04:00 Thank you, Backyard Professor! This is a really good piece to have here.
I appreciate you sharing this tonight. You added perspective to masonry mysticism. I’ve recently watched a few videos on freemasonry on CZcams. All this secretive man club stuff.
Yeah but our sharing the esoteric views, symbolisms, and meanings on video without getting into trouble is also helping ALL humankind gain more understanding, so it works out.
Yes! You made it worth looking into. Thank you. Adds great depth and perspective.
My grandparents on my moms side were eastern star and mason. I thought it was just a club. After they both passed away I found a cross Masonic chart book full of pictures of holes in the floor and a bunch of odd stuff. What a rabbit hole this has been. I wonder if my grandparents loved long ceremonies and having to memorize. Did they put on little white aprons. I wish I could ask them! This is fascinating. This is the American History I want to learn about.
I have many more videos up on this for your persuing further light and knowledge that Father promised!
Are you familiar with Precession of the Equinoxes? My area of study is the symbolism and allegory of the Royal Arch, Hiramic Legend and Precession of the Equinox. I almost joined the Church but decided on petitioning Masonry instead and am really glad I did. I was just trying to tell the LDS missionaries that I believe smith was trying to reform Masonry and trying to turn it into a religion.
@23:00 This is just me complaining, I know... still: _cite these references_ in the back-flow/doobly-doo bit!
@17:26 Remember you gotta destroy the Legends you crafted for its decipherment, though. *takes off pedant glasses*
Your the man, BYP
Have you heard of the theory that Brigham and John Taylor are the ones who took Joseph out ? I will find the link and attach it, it makes allot of sense
Anything is possible, but it's not necessary to go beyond the fact that Masons killed Joe, and probably for violating his Masonic oaths and obligations, ripping off Masonic signs, tokens, and penalties, the Five Points of Fellowship, among other things I won't get specific about. Occam's Razor.
I did not know you were a Mason. I am a TBM and a Mason who has served as master of my lodge. If you would like my insight with this subject I am available.
I would enjoy very much having discussions with you on all this... thank you.
@@TheBackyardProfessorIf you give me a contact that would be great. E-mail or whatever works best for you. I live in mountain time
Growing up as a Mormon in the 1970s, I heard bits and snatches about Mormon-Mason connections, primarily the standard apologetic that Masonry was the ancient Hebrew temple rites, and Joseph Smith "restored" or corrected them to create his temple endowment ceremony. I never thought much about it until my family toured the Mormon sites in western NY in 1995. Driving into Palmyra from the east, along the Eric Canal, is this historic marker which reads in part:
"The rapid growth of villages followed completion of the Erie Canal in 1825. Incidents in this area raised social and religious issues of national importance. In 1826 the disappearance of William Morgan produced the Anti-Masonic movement. The vision of Joseph Smith on the Hill of Cumorah, near Palmyra, resulted in the Book of Mormon and the founding of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. The home of the Fox Sisters, near Hydeville, is regarded as the "birthplace of spiritualism."
That was my first clue that there must have been some direct link between Masonry and Mormonism, considering that this incident occurred right in Joseph Smith's neighborhood. I was just beginning to study my way out of Mormonism at the time, and reading that spurred me to further investigate. I guess the most comprehensive info I read in those days, maybe 1996 or '97, were in the Tanners' "Mormonism: Shadow Or Reality." Another enlightening document was the Mormon historian Reed Durham's 1974 speech archived here:
www.mormonismi.net/temppeli/durhamin_puhe1974.shtml
Soon after that, I learned from LDS historian Todd Compton's book "In Sacred Loneliness" that William Morgan's widow Lucinda joined Mormonism and became one of Joseph Smith's earliest plural wives. Needless to say, the plot thickened. :-)
@37:00 This is an area that'll get all kinds of ugly, though. I mean, there really was a little club in Bavaria that started as its own private, invited-members-only kind of Mason-esque club. It was also tying to teach its own version of "true path" of Masonry... and had to be stamped out of existence once the Lodges in Bavaria found out about it. It's worth mention here because the CoJCoLDS went through a similar extrication-type process after the Nauvoo kerfufflry went into effect, what with the polygamy and the run for theocratic presidency silliness.
From what I understand the final book is 1/3 the original manuscript. So sad that original isn't available for consumption.
1:19:00 This is a really well-assembled thesis.
I couldn't follow this conversation... I know nothing about Free Masonry, also the cards you spoke of?? I'm clueless, and if I read this book, would I learn anything? Sorry, I'm just not that familiar with all of this...
I am waiting for the paperback. Too pricy :)
Please decipher the cipher I'm a lazy learner!
@15:55 Dang it, man! Make me dust off my York Rite memory. *grumbles*
Sorry! I think... GRIN!
The decipher reads "Drink mor Ovaltine".
LOL! At least it didn't say drink more Kool-Aid!
What happened to the copy of William Morgan's expose that was allegedly in his possession (or his wife's) when he was murdered/kidnapped? Is this one of sources that JS used in his works? Did he perhaps take on Lucinda Pendleton Harris Morgan as a plural wife in exchange for Wm Morgan's book? Just my old-lady musings....
Morgan's book was published shortly after he disappeared. The book was popular, so Joseph Smith undoubtedly obtained a copy somewhere.

y-yeah... baby?
is that why they do child sacrifice...?
Is polygamy Mesonic?
No
Nice!
