If you have a basic understanding of geography, science and history and read the BOM, you know it is not what the church narrative presents it to be. Who wrote it is irrelevant to me.

Presentism is useful by saying how could I make the better choice if I were born back then. I believe racism to be evil now, how could I have thought that same thing back then when it was more common to be racist? The answer is not listen to the prophets, or the Book of Mormon or the other leaders of the church. Well if it could have led me astray on such an evil state of believe why then would I use those same tools today to guide my morality?

Can we also call out that Haydens wife gave birth 2 days prior to this, their baby is in the NICU, and he decides its a good time to come out here to debate mormonism and promote his podcast?? And THEN brings up a womans childbirth being "gross" and relating it to mormonism and being "stuck in the afterbirth"? My jaw was on the floor. That poor woman, recovering alone and hearing her husband refer to what happened to her as "gross." Jackson seemed really unsure and nervous, but that Hayden is a pig.

They call themselves Stick of Joseph based on Ezekiel 37, which is a complete misinterpretion of that passage. It is talking about uniting Judah and Israel into one nation again. NOT two books! That alone proves they are ill-informed from the start.

After the Mormon Stories interview I went to the Stick of Joseph channel and asked them to point me to the video with the strongest evidence for the Book of Mormon. They pointed me to a video discussing pseudo-linguistic "clues" and "hints" in the Book of Mormon with a couple of guys that do not have credentials. I feel like someone in the church COULD put forth a much stronger case. It seems like they're just resorting to ignoring issues or just being completely confrontational (aka Cardon). I have much more respect for someone like Jim Bennett who understands the issues, but still wants to believe.

The whole point of being a Prophet, Seer and Revelator is that Heavenly Father and Jesus will appear and Reveal the One True doctrine. It’s definitely odd to have Jesus Reveal a policy in 2015 and then revoke the policy 4 years later. Also odd for Ordinances and Oaths that will never change to change with the passing of several decades. But, if you’re in your early 30s, you might not have experienced enough changes to notice.

What you're showing here are two brothers who are so into the church they fail to see its flaws. We used to call those members Desi-Mormons. They are worse than TBMs. Desis will not accept anything negative about the church. It's as if their rational thinking was never developed. All is well, the prophet never leads us astray, the church will never be taken from earth, etc.

No one can know what Heaven is but it'd be nice to think if you believe in Heaven that it's a beautiful place without earthly levels and where we reunite with our families without having to pass through million dollar temples or being excluded because I've had my double espresso.

Prophets I always assumed saw a glimpse of the future and were ahead of the posse regarding changes that needed to be made . I'm not a Morman but looking in from the outside as a historian I see that the churches prophets do not forsee rather they react. Is tgere one instance where any of them predicted anything ahead of time? The ten commandments of the Catholic Church never changed they remain the basis as does the life and words of Jesus. Yes other things changed the Latin mass etc but the basic foundation remains. The problem here is that the Morman Church is built on an ever-changing foundation where the truths are constantly modified and changed not from divine inspiration but from man made convenience. These boys are full of youthful arrogance hot air and 21st century lds male superiority. You have to live to learn. They did stun me with their utter disrespect for John and giraldo. If tgey don't have basic respect for older and experienced people or people without their views then it's sad. I've lived and learned and see my own religion now as flawed yes but it's foundation remains solid and Jesus not the Mormon Jesus remains the same. And thankfully I can pave my own way with life experience critical thinking and keeping it simple. If these pair came to my door I'd be forseeing a loud bang!!!

There is nothing that Mormons won’t redefine in order to keep their belief. RFM was pointing out the logical inconsistency with God being omnipotent, but even that is not too core of a belief for Mormons to change. Last week Jonah Barnes (Ward Radio) was claiming that God actually is NOT omnipotent, or omniscient according to Mormon doctrine. Didn’t think I’d ever see that.

I will say that Catholics believe the Pope does not receive revelation. Mormons believe that their prophets receive revelation directly from god.

Searching for objective truth using your emotions and feelings is not standard practice in either the hard sciences or social science. Neither of these sciences claim to hold the final truth, only the explanation given the currently known data. Claiming to possess the eternal truth through divine revelation would mean that that truth is infallible and made perfect. There should never be a revision or change if that truth is eternal.
