Hi guys, this is a small video on why sleep was so pivotal for my software engineering career. Music massobeats - rose water: • massobeats - rose wate...
Hi bigbox, I was stuck in tutorial hell for 2 years and your videos help a lot. If I lack motivation for coding sessions I just randomly start one or two of your videos to get going. You are truly inspirational, thank you for your work❤
I miss the days where I could sleep for more than 6 hours at a time. Just isn't in the cards for me anymore. That being said, amazing advice. Sleep is very important for all sorts of things, including the mental.
Consistent good sleep was like taking steroids. After I got it sorted out, I starting really making very noticeable gains in the gym despite routine and diet staying the same
You bastard, you did it again. One of these days I will finally be able to say "Nah, this video by bigboxSWE is not that great", but today is not that day.
Nice tip,but to be honest not everyone needs 8hrs of sleep,my body wakes up after ca 6 to 6.5 hours of sleep and I feel well rested, then I go to sleep for 2 more hourse and wake up feeling like a truck ran me over
That moment when you spend 4 hours on 1 problem lol. This has been my dilemma when Leetcoding. Do I spend a (quality) hour on doing the problem to the best of my ability and understanding the solution after or spend a whole day on it? I think it's more efficient to choose the former but you should learn to struggle on problems since that's what you'll remember.
Time management is importent, you dont wanan spend more time sleeping either, sleeping 8 hours isn't an requirement for a healthy sleep, you just need to find your optimal minimum sleeping hours and adjust as its different for each person. And taking breaks is also importent, usually when i get stuck i just do something else to refreash my mind or take a walk and when i come back i feel stupid for being stuck 1 hour at which i now see as simple problem.
I work as a junior dev my first job, i wake up at 4:30 leetocde till 7 office at 9 home at 7 and leetcode till 11, my health is shit and i know it's bad but if i dont tyrannise myself i feel even more horribel. Ps- i have a shitty salary and am a very slow learner
proceed to ignore and continue with my 6 hours sleep schedule* yknow what I'm kinda feeling tempted to try the uberman sleep cycle if I could get away with 2 hours of sleep per day I would kill for it
Do not fell also in other trap that you can become SE with just "a 30 mins a day" of coding/learning. You need to put a lot of hours, work hard and smart, but you need to be well rested to process this knowledge.
I am newbie in tech industry as a junior software developer. Your video always clams me down and relief my anxiety.
istg big box is the best , he doesnt bullshit
yeah I can relate, his videos are actually amazing!

Same
solving a problem after waking up is the best feeling
bigbox isn't pregnant but he never fails to deliver
Excercise also improve my learning speed. When I don't excercise it is harder for me to understand new thing.

Thank you BigboxSWE
You are the best motivator
Your videos are short, concise and very insightful
Thank you

Great videos as usual, thanks man
You're awesome bigbox! keep up the good work 😍❤❤
bro even 6hrs is a luxury here
That's is true man.
I'm a University Student. So sometimes I choose to work on only those parts of code,
that I know I can finish in time I have.
just found out abt your channel and now im addicted to your vids and im waiting for you to upload moreeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!
Such succinct content. Keep it up!
There's nothing like going to sleep with a problem and waking up with a solution
I'm so glad that I decided to subscribe to this channel.
Thank you bro 🙂❤
You just shared my secret key that I think is super underrated
The feeling of waking up and immediately solving a bug is unmatched 😌
Thank you for the video ❤
Thank you!
Thanks, Mike. :)
Hahaha. Dropping truth bombs left and right. So correct. Good work my friend.
big fan of getting to the point at the start
I was expecting the opposite, but man just laid out the hard spoken truth.
Underrated tip
Thanks big box

Sure, it varies for everyone. But giving a blanket recommendation like that keeps the message of the video simple and easily actionable: sleep more.
Thanks
I get 7 and try to make time for a nap. I would also add that a healthy diet and exercise is important too
Love you
W video as always
Nice
What would you suggest for a beginner? I keep seeing that python is easy but Java has more opportunities
SIMPLE!
Man I wish my time allowed that. 5 hrs of sleep is already a luxury in Asian Colleges. I'm not even learning well even though the workload is loaded.
Also dont forget to breath air
👍
Oh no
I first watched this video while staying up
Really need to sleep tbh
Legit been sacrificing my sleep to code more but realized I’m just shooting myself in the foot
real.
just in time lol. thx
i wish there was a channel of this size because i really dont like the method of productions with memes every 2 seconds

similar issue faced by me when learning new concepts ,it takes time to learn then it eats up my entire schedule
I respect the “you can end the video right now” option lol actually makes people want to continue on to watch it’s almost like a reverse effect
Don't even try to sacrifice your health for this freaking coding, live in balance and be happy!

Read why we sleep by mathew walker
Y'all should read "Why we sleep" by Matthew Walker. Amazing book you will never neglect sleep again
You convinced me to go to bed now. Gonna get up for work in 7 hrs (Java developer)

Do you guys know any good programming books that are worth it?
wow, he has Stallman poster 00:13
I have been sleeping on average 5 hours per day for a long time, I don't have any idea how to go back to 8 hours anymore.
Maann!!! You slap me in the face! How do you know???
proceed to ignore and continue with my 6 hours sleep schedule*
yknow what I'm kinda feeling tempted to try the uberman sleep cycle if I could get away with 2 hours of sleep per day I would kill for it
make video about how you make your videos
Deep REM sleep is pivotal for memory processing. You want to remember and actually learn things? You need to sleep well
Let see, if it works
Do you have any discord server? I'd like to join.
i am relay good at codinh
watch rich hickeys talk on hammock driven development
Also dont forget to drink water
Also dont forget to eat food

Go to bed early. It is better 8 hours of sleep
Yeah, now tell me about solving a problem the moment you put your head in the pillow
I prefer sleeping at night
Don't code Java at 1AM, worst mistake of my life
please don't put background music!!
