Suzy It makes me wonder how the mum and dad ever hooked up. If it’s their home and not a vacation spot, they he should EXPECT bears there and take precaution. He should have made the child stay quiet and restrain/ remove the dog. Then weigh up the losses vs pros. Either he make the bests go from the outset or stay quiet. There is no danger. He should tell his family how cute this is but explain that moma bears are vicious if anyone approached the cubs.
I would send the video to the pool manufacturer with a congratulating letter on the quality of their product, so they could advertise it as bear resistant.

the children cared more about possibly losing their material things than the awsome miracle of nature and seeing real bears in their backyard . when i was a kid i would have thought that seeing the bears was way cooler than not losing one of my toys . their mom should have immediately used that moment as an opportunity to teach her kids that their toys are just material things that can be replaced but seeing the bears up close like that was something that they would rarely see in their life .

I didn't hear the Dad offer to step up and do anything but point out possible negative repurcussuons. Calling animal control at that point was probably a wise idea if the Mama bear was getting too comfortable, as they get very aggressive when they have cubs. She was looking out for everyone. From her deep sigh I bet she does a lot of damage control by softening Dad's negativity.
Whoever the lady is that's talking behind the camera is an amazing person..she seen that her stuff was getting ruined and was still more captivated by letting a momma and her babies have a moment together. If they were a couple years older they could probably see it for what it is. You're expecting adult (or at least higher-level) processing from a 3 and 5 year old. Don't be obtuse.

I didn't hear the Dad offer to step up and do anything but point out possible negative repurcussuons. Calling animal control at that point was probably a wise idea if the Mama bear was getting too comfortable, as they get very aggressive when they have cubs. She was looking out for everyone. From her deep sigh I bet she does a lot of damage control by softening Dad's negativity.

It's part of growing, learning, and normal childhood development. Nothing about kids' reactions to bears in their new pool says anything about the human race as a whole. The kids had a new toy with which to cool off in the summer, and now they don't. It makes sense that they're bummed and confused. If they were a couple years older they could probably see it for what it is. You're expecting adult (or at least higher-level) processing from a 3 and 5 year old. Don't be obtuse.

Yes, Mom was so cool with everything UNTIL her float started to get ripped up by the cubs then she said, “go tell dad to call animal control “ which is what dad wanted to do in the beginning.
Frank Daniels ....... Ikr then she definitely wasn't a happy mummy. I am so happy that mama bear didn’t electrified herself and the cubs in the pool, cause that would have been traumatising to the kids.
The bears enjoy it just as much as the children that play in it. may be more. Funny, glad they enjoy.

Yes and the fact that she was excited to see them is proof that there are still good people in the world her kids and her husband on the other hand they need to realize that people pay money to go to the zoo to see these animals all caged up but to see him in nature or out in just the wild or you know yeah I get you don't want them in your backyard but the fact that you get to see 5 baby bears and one adult is really cool people need to start appreciating the little things I think sometimes we get so focused on the negatives of life that we forget that there are so many positives so many good things out there that we haven't even experienced I've seen three bald eagles on the side of the road eating at carcasses now I've seen bald eagles in a nest baby bald eagles I've seen some pretty amazing animals out there and all you have to do is just look it's kind of cool

Poor bears? Looks to me like they're leading the life of Riley. They're clearly not starving and they have humans to provide a play pool for them and lots of chew toys.
That dad is the type that tells you you're life's over while the mom winks at you to let you know it's all gonna be fine.

A Marie indeed but non-human animals won’t hurt you if you respect them and don’t hurt them or are a danger in any way. And mama bear would just protect her cubs and herself. Also, these are black bears, they are scavengers not hunters. They get easily spooked off. And are even less of a danger. Not that others are dangerous.
