I have a dual battery Engwe M20. It is not very practical and has budget components but it is still a blast to ride and is one of my favorite ebikes.

Personally I wouldn't buy this style of a bike. It does look cool...but I prefer more practical bikes...and as you discovered this isn't one of those :) Thanks for watching

I also have an Engwe X26. I won the X26 in a giveaway. I really want to like it. But it is so tall I can barely ride it (I am 5'7") and certainly cannot enjoy it.

I think it is £300 fine to go with it on the road in UK. Electrical powered vehicle, should have MOT, Road TAX and Insurance Policy... 🤷‍♂️

Nice review. I'm not really impressed by the design. It seems like the lack of adjustable seat and the uncomfortable riding position means it just isn't suitable for pedaling longer distances. With the powerful motor maybe the intention is to predominantly use it like an electric motorcycle around town.
