Met my wife in 1994 and this song was our number one 2 stepping song! Saw him in concert many times and there isn’t a week that goes by that I listen to my HK playlist on Spotify. At our wedding we played several of his amazing songs. Miss him greatly!
I just heard about Hal’s passing today of Dementia. He was one of the great country artist we forgot about . He had some great country music. Thank You Hal for your music and memories.
Broke my heart about Hal's passing - I thought he was the coolest guy to come along in country music with a voice like silk - R.I.P. Just This Side Of Heaven HK....
Greenwich wasn't far from where I lived in upstate NY at the time. I met him at my son's baseball game - such a humble and kind guy he was...... so talented...
@@kevinnoonan9238 I wish that I could have met him and seen him perform live. I was hooked from the first time that I heard his music. He really touched my heart and soul - and, he still does. What a beautiful legacy of wonderful music.
My husband, daughter & I would listen to Hal's Past the Point of Rescue tape when we'd drive from Phoenix, Arizona to Big Mountain, Montana. It was always on our 'playlist' on those trips. My husband still can sing along with all his songs. Such great memories. Was so sad to hear that he has passed away. I bet he's singing with the very best in Heaven. R.I.P. You'll be missed here, but your music will go on for ages.
I am such a fan of Hal's. This performance exemplifies his appeal. Also loved this band. Like many others, I am saddened by his passing, but I (and others) will always have his incredible music...
I remember when I was 13 this was on TNN The Nashville Network and I enjoyed his music performed. Although I wasn't much of a country music fan at the time, his music lefts it's indelible mark on my life. As I grew older I developed an appreciation for Country Music. Hal used his smooth vocal work and melodic music to create new fans who appreciated what he offered to all country fans. For this he will be forever missed! Hal we miss you for now, but will see you again in the distant future! God Bless you Hal!

I saw this beautiful man in Dublin 95/6.I counted 24 people at the venue. I stood right next to him.He gave me his guitar pick when he finished. I have never seen a more beautiful man, ever.
Check out Mick Hanley who wrote this song. He’s from Ireland and has so many awesome songs. Had an album called rusty ol halo which is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard.
I only discovered this amazing singer a couple of years ago. Don’t laugh, but I sing on karaoke, or did, and I absolutely love to sing Past The Point of Rescue. So sorry to have lost this singer, we must cherish his music and keep on singing. J x
What an arrangement! Best sound mixer on the side stage!!! God rest you Clint Black and Hal Ketchum! I broke this out for a karioke contest and it was a smash hit, THANKS Hal and group! Clap 👏🏻
Saw him twice here in Norfolk, Va....before that had told my friends in N.Y. Hal was GREAT....and his live performances proved it....at the now long gone 'Boathouse which was destroyed by Hurricane Isabelle in '03...well that show that night I rank high up there with the many I have seen....the show was spectacular
This song was actually written by an Irishman named Mick Hanley. He was a happy man the day Hal picked the song up. Great video of Mick and Hal singing the song on CZcams
I saw this concert! Thank you for sharing! So many good memories. From the way, my Ex would be spin me on the dancefloor to this son, to the day we traveled 75-miles to a hospital to deliver our baby, Tiny.

So I've never been a country fan, and had never heard of Hal Ketchum until a couple months ago. But for the life of me I can't understand why he was a "90s country singer". He had an amazing voice, but it sounds like his career slowed in the late 90s. How did that happen? I'm really curious. May he rest in peace...
Traditional country music has its roots in the music of the Appalachian mountain people...the majority of whom were from Ireland and brought their music with them.
I know there's footage of Hal duetting with Suzy Bogguss on the Beatles song 'I've Just Seen A Face' out there. Surprised it's never been posted on you Tube.
Wow I have recently heard this song just wow as another person said in there comment that song is awesome 😎 very sexy as all get out thanks 🤠 to my smart phone love ❤️ this song 😍 ma

PAST THE POINT OF RESCUE
Last night I dreamed you were back again
Larger than life again, holding me tight again
Placing those same kisses on my brow
Sweeter than ever now, lord I remember how
Couldn't get enough of kissing, do you know how much you're missing
No you don't, but I do
The days like a slow train trickle by
And even the words that I write refuse to fly
All I can hear is your song haunting me
Can't get the melody out of my head, you see
Distractions are amusing, do you know how much you're losing
No you don't, but I do
But I do, and I wonder if I'm past the point of rescue
Is no word from you at all the best that you can do
I never meant to push or shove you, do you know how much I love you
No you don't, but I do
I swore I'd never fall like this again
Fools like me never win, came to my knees again
Can't close the door on likely hood
Things might be just as good, I always believed they would
Gotta let your love invite me, baby do you think it might be
No you don't, but I do
But I do, and I wonder if I'm past the point of rescue

way to go Gary Nuewberg. You stuck with him to the end. Love you for that. LOVE AND MISS MYHAL.
And it is always interesting to me to see the cross-section between Irish folk music and American country music.
That's because country music has its roots in Irish music, especially Irish folk music.
Traditional country music has its roots in the music of the Appalachian mountain people...the majority of whom were from Ireland and brought their music with them.
