- Short lived but fun musical game show hosted by accomplished singer Adam Wade - who, fun bit of trivia, was the first African-American to host a nationally televised game show.
The episode also features soap star Mary Stuart in a singing capacity. - Zábava
RIP Adam Wade. I remember watching this game show as a little girl. I saw that he passed away on FB. I enjoyed him on Good Times as a love interest to neighbor Williona.
I can't believe I discovered Adam Wade as the first Black game show host! #BlackHistoryForever
And he had THREE top 10 hits in 1961.
RIP Adam Wade, he was a one in a million host hosting a one in a million game show.
Did you know a CBS affiliate station in Alabama refused to air this show because the host was Afro-American?
I used to love this show. My memory is saying that on earlier episodes they had fewer guests - I remember the Tokens being on a lot - and I think they originally sang the whole theme song at the beginning of the show. On this episode, they sing some of it under the end credits.
RIP Adam Wade!
As of September 23 the only performer that is still with us is Henry Farmbrough, the man singing lead on ‘if I didn’t care’
He sadly just passed away on February 7th :'( .
R.I.P. Adam Wade
I was living in New York at that time and was visiting my relatives in Los Angeles when I was watching this show in 1975. I remember when one of my relatives walked into the living room and saw me watching this show and said "Huh? The host is a black guy???" Shows how dense we were back then! However I will concede that it was very unheard of that an African-American would host a game show.
No one was dense. The shock was due to the fact that Adam Wade was the first Black game show host.
live music in a game show? fantastic idea
RIP Adam Wade
Elements of Don’t Forget The Lyrics + Name That Tune + Split Second + MTV’s Remote Control
One of the very few CBS game shows of the 1970s to be taped in New York City...the vast majority were taped in Hollywood!
Adam Wade, 1935-2022
Watching this tv show in the year 2020
I had to check out this show after seeing an episode of Tattletales on BuzzR that concluded with “Stay tuned for Musical Chairs on most of these CBS stations”
Shame they didn’t get to the bonus round in this episode :-(
A couple more episodes have surfaced, not much to the bonus round: the contestant had 20 seconds to put ten parts of the lyrics to a popular song in the right order at $100 a pop or $2,000 if they got all 10.
Match Game 75 had MC after as well.
I remember this!❤
I would like to see an episode of this show with Dee Dee Warwick as a special guest (July 21-25, 1975)
Much love for sharing this!
Thank you for posting i truly enjoy this
"We gotta scoot for the loot." Interesting pitch to commercial break.
Very smooth
He had other ones too they all rhymed like: "we gotta dash for the cash".
@@marcpower4167 And how about "we gotta take a pause for the cause."
@@NEPatriot that one would be great if your local public or community radio station were in fund drive mode. And that includes any and all PBS TV stations.
I love adam they was so jealous of him they yank him off he was the first black game show host thank you for posting
That show debuted on June 16, 1975 till October 31, 1975. I saw The Tokens (who became Cross Country in 1973 & the 1965 Wilson Pickett song "In The Midnight Hour") perform "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" on that show. I was 10 years old in 1975. My late grandmother hated that show because she told me that the old game show (July till September of 1955 on NBC) was better!!
MARY STUART from Search for tomorrow here on CBS
Irene's hair looks so good and thick.could not tell if that was her.
I could’ve played this game, but with songs from the Spinners, Dionne Warwick, Patti LaBelle
Do you have the other episodes with Sister Sledge?
Too bad the game show was short-lived or that he didn't host another game show. He had such a stage presence.
I am in with phippie may he rip
Could've worked a little better if Ralph Edwards became the showrunner and it got moved to TV City in L.A.
Looks like Irene Cara but doesn't sound like her. I'm 54 but don't remember this show, kinda odd actually trying to get into it Rest in Paradise to Adam Wade and the others deceased on here.
Fred Sanford sent me at 14:50
How is it that we are more "systemically racist" now? When will we figure out that we all matter?
name that tune is way better
whom ever made this show must have been desperate
no wonder i never heard of this game show its awful
Yea, I’m right there with ya.
This game show really sucks!!!
RIP Adam Wade.
Thank you so much for this!

I notice an optical illusion circle during the ''going in circle'' number
I thought this was the inspiration for "Don't Forget The Lyrics". They look similar in format.
Personally, I'm glad to see someone besides Filipe Wynne sing lead on The Spinners. 😊
14:42------Fred Sanford's favorite song.
Fun fact-- the returning contestant in this episode, Gerri, later became host Adam Wade's wife. And IINM, the two are still married.
I'm not so sure about that. His wife has the same name but I think they spell it differently. But he did meet her on the show.
@@gameshowfreak2007 His still-current wife (whom he married in 1989) spells her name Jerre. He's now 85 and still with us as of when this was written. I can definitely see where the confusion is if it's someone other than the contestant in this particular game.
Andrew Schroy, Not sure how you came to that conclusion since Adam's wife spells her first name "Jeree". The contestant spells her name "Gerri". And besides the announcer said that she was a homemaker meaning that she was probably already married.
I’ve known Gerri for 30+ years she’s never been married to Adam Wade
