I love that Scott wrenches on his own Ferraris like this. Really demystifies these machines. They are, after all, just cars. Very special cars, no doubt. But still just cars.
Thanks Megan. Ive been asked to write a regular column for Forza Magazine and the first piece is why I DIY my Ferrari's. Part of it is exactly that, to demystify that these cars can only be touched by Ferrari dealers
Top man , your videos are just very informative to the secrets of Ferrari up-keeping. You are a credit to CZcams mate and to people that would like to service their own cars
I love the info, and you explain everything in such detail. I would love to keep you healthy and alive. Please put Jack stands underneath your cars. Those jack lifts, may not go out for you. But you are a leader now.
Can't wait to buy one of these. I'm looking for a good summer car for weekend dates with my wife. And I love these cars along with the 328 gts. Absolutely works of art. Just have to wait a bit. The wait will be worth it lol.
Less is more. The entirely analog 348 is the biggest bang for the buck. The 355 has brass valve issues. the 355s electronic adjustable suspension goes out. the 355 spider's roof is one piece and costs $60k to replace. its now or never for the 348 - the shrewdest sports car purchase in the entire Ferrari market.
Great video, content is very informative and presentation excellent. Better than mainstream TV channels! You certainly know your way around these Ferrari's, could I ask are you self taught or have you received any formal training / apprenticeship? Either way your work is superb and support for this great channel should continue to grow. Regards. Dave.👍👍
Hi Dave thanks for the kind words. I was in I.T for 20+ years and have had not formal training on these, its all self taught over the years and gradually I do more and more in depth stuff. There a great write up about me and what i do coming into Ferrari Ferrari magazine in Aug 2019 , heres one from a previous mag www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/features/man-who-buys-ferraris-you-really-shouldnt
Take the wheels off, take the tubs out, and the fuel filters are right there. No need to lean on expensive paint. I have a '94 2.7 motronic spider and it makes 312 HP. No dogs at my house. 348 convertibles are the only way to go. I love my car. my 2 cents
Great video man thanks for sharing I'm in the market for buying one it has been my dream childhood car what is your thoughts and opinions on the car reliability and flaws wise I know no car is perfect I'm just trying to get as much info as possible before I pull the trigger on one and what value price you think they worth in decent shape? I see all kind of prices I understand it depends on the cars conditions Just generally ?? Thanks again.
so cool to see someone work on Ferraris, especially being the owner. I love the way it looks but I've heard the 348 was a total dog to drive, what do you think?
Cheers Ross, appreciate the feedback. Personally I really like the 348 for its drive feel and feedback. Yes given its has a heavy clutch and no PAS so its hard work Parking or moving but once its going it feels like a Go Kart. Its got all the feel most of the modern Ferraris now lack
@@Ratarossa i have a 348 spyder owned for 24 years once you get these car proper warmed up and hot then the drive is magical trust me ....love these cars :))
Great Video! Have a few beginner questions: 1.) There certainly are a few things which can't be done without lifting the engine right? This is my main concern reg. the 348 holding me back from buying one. 2.) Does the value of the car fall whenever you do your own maintenance?
Yes a lot of things that should be simple like changing the timing belt require engine removal on this car. DIY maintenance can lower value because you don’t have receipts for the maintenance, but filming yourself in a professional manner while doing maintenance may help a bit as you would be able to provide video proof
Would like a life John. But I guess half of the appeal of these videos I shoot is that its basic everyday tools and garage setup, nothing fancy. So anyone could do it.
The video is excellent, however I have my doubts a car which runs less than 2000 km/year will get the engine oil so black and the air filter so dirty in a single year. And let's be honest the oil washer needs to be replaced every year? what happents with the metal it melts by itself in 365 days? These cars usually get 10.000 km in 5 years only. Put 100% synthetic oil and you can do this "annual" service from 5 to 5 years.
i just use a product to get rid of all the caked on grim that's called 'gunk' that with a paintbrush and lots of elbow grease. sometimes it takes a few goes to get it all off, but well worth it. Ive had an ABS light before a couple of times on my Ferrari's but it always goes away when i drive it down the road.
Great question. Here in the UK an Independent or specialist would charge between £450 and £900 + VAT for the Annual 348 Service. The cost of the items and fluid I used was £135.06 +VAT
Scott I’ve watched your video on how to replace the timing belts on a 355 by dropping the fuel tank to gain access space from below. Given the similarity in layout, would this technique work with the 348? Jon
@@Ratarossa Hi, I'm another huge fan of your work; the belt service has always pushed me away from even thinking about buying a 348/355 but having just watched your 355 DIY video, I'm actually thinking about saving up to buy one! I do actually prefer the 348 over the 355, so if you ever find a way of making the belt service as easy as the video I just watched, I'll be stoked. Looking forward to seeing an upload.

Ratarossa Love it. I wrench on my own, too. First, on my 308. Now on my currently sad but soon-to-be-fabulous 612. :D
I wish I had these vids when I owned a Ferrari, it would have saved me a fortune.

ACarCalled Mercedes thanks so much for the positive comment 👍🏻
I have no idea how this channel doesn’t have 100x more subs. Excellent excellent stuff.
Thanks Yasir, I really only started uploading content to it about 4 months ago, so hopefully it will gradually grow.
I agree should be more i try to pass word of your videos around you have taken out the mystery of these cars
no shit much better than that stupid fuck from @normalguysupercar
I'd be super impressed to see you change the timing belt on that engine :-)
you know you balling when you use your Ferrari 355 spider as a table while servicing your Ferrari 348 :)

This video is a gold mine for new owners holy crap!
That was great, thanks!!!
Nice job on the video, keep on making these. Thanks
Thanks Keith, I'm just finishing editing the FULL step by step process for doing a Timing Belt change on the 360
The 348 is coming along can't wait for more 308 video's..
Interesting video thanks. Very informative
Thanks for the video looks easy to work on the car I hope one day buy one

John Barnes cheers John, nice tip. I’ll add it to the write up
I was a bit nervous when you were holding your oil drain plug wrench/attachment over the rear fender of your 355.

What kind of cleaning liquid do you use ? Have you had ever problems with an engaged ABS warning light, any idea how to go about it ?

did u put the 355 bonnet on the 348?
good ++++++

Jon I believe it would work but a little more tricky as it’s a single belt on 348 … I’ve never tried it though buddy
