Velma Review of Season 2 Episode 2 on HBO Max, where we find out the serial killer actually just hates dudes. Determined to separate them from anything that makes them a man, Velma still doesn't see this as worse than the first series. As in the first series the victims were people she thought actually mattered. I've not seen the later episodes yet as I watch them as I record so I don't know whats coming. But so far this series is shaping up in the same escalating style of Series 1, which means I'm dreading the finale. But what do you think of what you saw? And then as they ran off the dog would drop his comb or whatever and come back to pick it up and laugh - that got me every time.
Honestly? In the Scooby-Doo and Krypto Too! movie (which is at least decent), the biggest laugh I got was when Scooby and Shaggy distracted the holographic villains (think like Star Trek's holodeck) by being Metropolis tour guides. It committed to the classic bit so well I couldn't help but laugh.
Remember the "I'd have gotten away with it too.." And unmasking the villain, the iconic moments? Yeh let's not do any of that.
"Velma" going on about being tolerant while literally being incredibly intolerant the entire show is hilarious and depressing.

ALL the main characters were pleasant and had a wholesome and caring relationship with each other. That's a big part of what makes most Scooby-Doo IPs appealing. They're a group of friends that look after each other and solve mysteries together teaching children good morals and problem solving skills with a lot of slapstick comedy thrown in. This is just wearing the IP as a gross flesh suit and parading around a bunch of hateful, bigoted garbage. This has NOTHING to do with Scooby-Doo.

Fred continues to be the only somewhat-likeable character in the show. Maybe because he's the only actor who feels right for the character they're trying to portray. He's also a paradoxical underdog, because the show does everything it can to portray him with zero redeeming qualities. It feels like he exists in a world that does nothing but despise him and try to undermine everything he is, but he powers through it.
They gave him the most pathetic sounding, whiny little boy voice. Wouldn't be surprised if the actual voice actor for Fred (who voices most versions of him to this day) was disgusted with this show and stayed FAR away from it. I would have.

Well, Fred is the only character who is allowed to have his flaws actually be flaws, every other character is just "misunderstood" because they are all already "perfect" so it all comes out as fake, meanwhile Fred is the only one trying to fix himself which makes him more likeable.

Well you see what she does is have board meeting with people like Harvey which many famed artists have called "God". Then they come out of that meeting with a new part and then Bob Iger needs a shower in his office for unrelated reasons. The problem is that doesn't transfer over to the big screen well. No matter how amazing well I'll just stop right there won't I.

What if the camera continued to follow the "copycat" Velma and Daphne, shortly after we are introduced to Scooby and all the real characters., all things leading up to that moment would have just been a nightmare fake out.

The success or failure is a factor in whether they renew the series, let it finish its planned run, or cancel it early and buy the people involved out of their contract.

And... how does the oiling count get done? How many pairs of students are out there working? Versus how many teachers even work at the school? Much less would be willing to follow their 'assigned' pair around to count their work? Unless the whole thing is on the honor system? In which case, what's stopping the students from just lying? How could the faculty possibly know? Or, as is my theory: The only two pairs that are actually doing any oiling are Daphne and... Freaky Goth They/Them... versus Velma and Fred, and everyone else just fucked off for the weekend?

It's cheaper. The first season of any show costs more, since everything has to be created for it, in the second you already have a lot of that.
Oh, and they expect a lot of h*te watching...
Animation is typically ordered in batches to save cost, so you take an initial order for 26 or so episodes and air them as two seasons.
It saves money on having to rehire the voice actors and animators, since they’ll already be contracted, which is very handy as they won’t be able to renegotiate for a higher fee if season one is successful.
There might also be extenuating circumstances as well: Mindy Kaling is a very well known and outspoken person, so they probably don’t want to offend her or her friends, to say nothing of the keyboard crazies that would descend upon them if they erred against the Progressive Stack.
