hi Zak Withney, this problem was already solved by Precious Plastic team. They created coins with signs of type of plastic. You just heat them and then put for a while on a surface of your plastic-recycled product. So the sign will be there

davehakkens I have a very good idea for a lot of that plastic. Since most birds are having troubles finding places to nest why not create nesting boxes for various species? if sold cheap or even given away then people can go out on a mission and put them up everywhere and at the same time help rebuild the little bird population. you could make camouflaged colours to help beat off those nest hunters and plastic will last a lifetime :) just an idea

Good idea Dion, but I think there needs to be lots of thought put into which products people make - if things are not highly valued they will end up discarded in the environment, often ending up in waterways - thereby perpetuating the same original problem that plastics recycling seeks to solve. Do nest boxes meet these criteria ? Will they be valued and used? Perhaps. Would boxes made out of natural material be more environmentally friendly or better utilised by species? I don't know.
Plastic lasts 1000 years, we need to think long and hard about the most suitable products for recycled plastic.

This would be THE SOLUTION to our problems in Jamaica. This little island is drowning in plastic.... If one could recycle it, they would not throw it anywhere... or somebody would pick it up and recycle it. I'd love to start a little business but I am not a talent if it comes to building machines. I'd offer you shelter and food and pay you to build the machines.... how about that ?

How about trying to set up a deal with the vocational technical college in your neighborhood? or with the local government regarding waist management and disposal. i would like to hear if anyone of these might have worked? As I think about this plastic injection process: Might be much easier to use compressed air v/s metal screw compression method to inject the hot plastic into the mold. And once the mold is filled with plastic you can turn off the air pressure etc.

Nothing new, did this for a company been in business since late 90s back in 2005 but with more industrial extrusion machines and made lumber and some legs for picnic table and park benches.

OHH MY GOD!!! I was thinking about improoving my sculpture tecniques in plastic!! I live in Brazil, and here we dont have to many plastic recicling stations. Our government does not give a s*#! about this.
Im making a project about how can we use plastic as a material in sculptures and art tasks, and how can we make the methods accessible to any art class.
If you have any file about how to assemble, and more information about what type of plastic to use and what are the possibilities with soda bottles for exemple!!
